We arrived mid-afternoon and were pleased to find that lunch was still being served. There was a great selection of meals available plus chef’s specials.
The atmosphere was very friendly and the pub is dog friendly.
The food was very good, wholesome and tasty.
Our desserts were somewhat delayed which mortified the staff. The wait was worth it though as they were delicious.
If we are ever back in the area we know where to eat.

We are regulars and often Visit for a fillet steak and a pint of real ale. The fillet steak is cooked to perfection and is of high quality. The choice of ale on tap is always great. The home-made cheesecake is scrummy. Highly recommend.
The Halfway House is not exactly our local but its certainly worth the 30 min walk to get there. Called by last night with my wife just for a beer, we love the fact that there is normally 5 hand pulled bitters on usually its Marstons Pedigree, Bass and 3 guest beers. If we are undicided we will have a paddle which consists of 3 one third glasses of the guest beers; its a great way to try them all without getting too drunk.
A spur of the moment decision, we decided to stop and eat in the small restaurant area and we were treated to a great meal with top class service. Highly recommend the black pudding starter and chicken curry.
Peter and Paul have built this village pub into a great business, it does sometimes get very busy but luckily the bar is still a haven for those wishing to just enjoy a pint and meet friends.

We’ve just enjoyed yet another super meal at The Halfway House. Fantastic home- cooked food, warm and friendly service as always. We can not fault this place, and since finding it 6 months ago it’s become our favourite pub. Thank you once again!
Was here last night for a friend's 70th birthday. We had a banquet type evening and the food was amazing!!! It just kept coming out. So much choice and every dish as delicious as the other. Also very attentive and friendly staff!! Highly recommend this place!! Definitely want to do that again🖒 very enjoyable evening. Thank you �

We had my mums wedding reception here and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could! The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and polite. My children loved the park area while my family and I enjoyed the beer garden in the sunshine, I will definitely be back soon.
We had our daughters wedding reception here on the 16th, Ash and all the staff really did us proud. The food and facilities were amazing. We couldn't have wished for a better day and everyone who came said the same. Well done to them.
Visited yesterday for 7th anniversary of the HWH opening. Great place and great set up for families. Fabulous live music and food and drink that won't break the bank! Must go back to try the rest of the menu!
I had such an amazing day from start to finish.could not of picked a better venue for our special day,to which every single member of staff gave us one hundred percent of there time.The food was delicious, our guests loved the menu choices,had very good feed back from them.
Evening food was delicious too,I was told best wedding food they have ever had.
I have a friend with food allergies ,and they was very accommodating and also had a choice of food.
We had a fare few children at our wedding so the play area was spot on,and happy parents not being bothered by bored children .

We held our Golden Anniversary meal at the HWH on Friday night and I couldn't fault it for one minute. We chose the banquet for 20 people and the food, the service and the atmosphere was second to none. So glad we decided on this rather than a huge, impersonal party. Thank you Peter and Paul and everyone else involved. Great night all round
The Halfway House has an older feel about it due to its decor but don't let that hold you back. The staff, overall service, and quality of food are brilliant.
The lady who worked there (not sure of her name) was very welcoming and always had a smile. She clearly knew people's faces and names of the regulars which was nice. She worked very hard and ensured that we had everything we needed whilst she worked the bar, served the restaurant area, and communicated with the kitchen.
The portions are MASSIVE! The price is also so good for what you get (quality and portion wise). The cheesecake is to die for and would be worth the trip alone.
If we visit the area again then we will be sure to come again 😁.
The pizza & pasta night was great, so much choice and only £10! My pasta dish was really tasty, took me back to holidays in Sorrento! Had a lovely meal with family and the beer was great too! Can't wait for the Tapas night next Thursday!

Had a pleasant rest whilst having a pint and a extremely tasty Chicken Tikka Curry. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Not very busy.
Real home cooked food,nice portions and the service was excellent.Comfy surroundings and a steady stream of customers on a Thursday lunch tells you that their doing things right.
Warm, welcoming , good food served hot. Christmas meal was very nice. The 3 small sweets were ideal, tasty ,served with decorated fruit. Staff were very helpful. I have an intolerance to certain ingredients. They took great care to ensure the meal was safe for me to eat. Can't praise them enough. Thankyou.
We were on holiday staying at a nearby campsite with our two dogs, we happened to find this amazing pub on a fantastic walk that we were on, we went in for a drink on the Monday lunch time with our dogs and the people were very friendly and welcoming. We then went back on the Wednesday for Lunch with the dogs again, it was a great lunch and even better it was a special menu for us oldies over 60. The food, quantity and quality was incredible. The staff were friendly and the place was clean and tidy. Would 100% recommend this pub.
We've had a fantastic Sunday lunch today. Steak pie was wonderful. Sunday lunch is excellent, beautiful selection of veg, tasty yorkshire pudding and roasters. Oreo and Maltese cheesecake fabulous.

It's been my local for years so I maybe biased but this is a traditional pub with great atmosphere, beer and superb home cooked food. The Bass on tap is incredible!
We had our works do here recently and the food was better than most top class restaurants if you take into consideration value for money .
There aren't many pubs left which have this atmosphere so have a visit and enjoy!
Lovely little country pub, you could tell the Sunday roast was home cooked, it was delicious - proper comfort food! All the staff were friendly too. Only downside is that the seating arrangements are a little snug but we’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends & family
Great location, excellent hospitality, good menu, delicious food and wonderful local ales. We tried this place on a friend's recommendation and were not disappointed.
Had a lovely meal. The food was great. Nicely presented. Well priced. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We was a party of 20. They was very happy to help us out with the birthday cake that we took in ourselves.

Great real a ales. Good beer garden and play area for the kids. Would have given five stars had it not been for the terrible language from some drinkers in the bar, can't comment on the food as I wouldn't subject my children to that kind of language.
Update:
Went for lunch which was excellent food. Very busy so a little slow coming out. Worth the wait though. Tried the beef stroganoff and gammon steak, both very good.
Therefore upping my rating to 5* as the foul mouthed drinkers in the bar must have been an evening issue.
