Ordered a chicken biryani. The biryani was fragrant, had a well balanced flavour and had a decent amount of Chicken. Only negative would be that it was slightly oily.
I hope I can stop raving. This has been one of the most surprising, satisfying discoveries of my time in London so far. A shady looking place with throwaway rates sounds anything but promising. We took the risk and went in to find this pretty well appointed restaurant. It was full, full of non-Indians at that! Our steward certainly knew his job well as he warned us that a curry would be sweet and he could adapt it to our liking. And lo and behold, it was very much to our liking. We had the matar paneer, chapattis, veg biryani and poppadoms. Each dish was just simple, non oily, delicious home food. I hope they are consistent.. and if they are, this restaurant is just a gem.
East India is a brillient place to go and have a yummy curry! The atmosphere is great the food is amazing and if you pay cash the whole meal is half price! Now that's a credit crunching deal!

Attended for a works meal, service was fair given the amount of people attended. The food was decent. Price was great, given we got a 50% off deal!

This is our default option when we crave Indian food in Surbiton. Food is good and value for money. Must mention Nihaad who provides excellent service every time we visit. He is the descent to even to interact with.

Great meal tonight, lamb bhuna, sag panner and garlic naan, for the price it can't beat in surbiton , prompt and polite service ,I was in and out in 30 mins ,which was exactly what I wanted.
I used to eat here regularly 20+ years ago and it's still as good now, nothing fancy just great authentic food !!
Really nice local Indian restaurant. Friendly staff, very welcoming. Prices are a must. Always go for the Garlic Naan and the Chutney Tray. Malayan chicken and Biryani.
A nice cheep place to go, with good quality food and they do half price on food if you pay in cash. Service was quick and helpful. Would have been five stars but they don't have chicken chat puri on the menu.

Best Indian restaurant in Surbiton, prices much cheaper than anywhere else in the local area. Great value for money as the food is very good unlike other places around there. Staff always on point whenever we've eaten in there. Always come out satisfied full up still with money in the wallet.
The food we ordered was delicious and the service was wonderful.
As a big curry fan I was surprised at how good this place was - everything was half price on the day, which usually is a warning sign, but the service was very friendly & humble, the food was great & obviously the price was too. What really impressed me was that I asked for something that wasn't on the menu (garlic chilli chicken) & they had no problem making it. The restaurant itself needs an upgrade, but if more customers came through the door maybe that'd be achievable?

First time ordering from this restaurant and have to say how good the food was. Really tasty with just the right balance of spices and heat. Will definitely be trying more of the menu in the future.
Love this place, been going since the 90s. Delicious food, great portion sizes, and wonderful service from the owners. The 80s throwback decor and furniture is slightly questionable but for me, that's all part of the appeal.
So glad to see they have a 5* food safety rating, now, too.
