Loved this place. Great looking pub, with an olde world feel. Good beer selection and a very knowledgeable and friendly Manager. Will definitely be returning here next time I'm in Sunderland. Also thank you very much for the pump clips you gave me, very much appreciated. If I could give six 🌟, I would. Favourite place in Sunderland.
Been a frequent visitor for the last 20 years, service is always excellent with a lot of staff knowing their customers by name, love the chicken curry and chips!!!! (Update: Downside my most recent visit the fryers weren't working, but the jacket I had was still really nice!)

Good beer garden, great ales and beer selection, drinks and meals are varied. Good location in the city. Broad spectrum of folks visit there. Many happy times in my student, work and performing / busking days: 1995 to 2000s. Matt Dring
Lovely quiet little local pub with plenty of real ales & beers to offer, good selection of gins and spirits too
The are known for their chicken curry and chips for good reason. It's a great portion size, great taste at a fantastic price. Love to go there (earlier in the day) for a quiet pint of Guinness. Great beer selection also. I've been going for years as it has a relaxing, traditional pub atmosphere. If you can get a window seat, even better. They have a beer garden also if you'd like to drink outside.

The Ales are always excellent, the Staff are friendly and the whole establishment has a lovely relaxed atmosphere which reminds you how pubs used to be unlike the majority of modern drinking places which are full of music and TVs and you can't carry on a conversation because it's too noisy! It's a proper pub during the day.

A little quiet after 10pm but a warm greeting by the staff and management.
