My absolute favourite place while I stayed in Sunderland. Service was top notch very friendly and fun, the food was fantastic, tasty hot and came out fast. The cocktails are amazing. I would definitely recommend here for food but would book as it was always busy the two times I went. Brilliant place!.
Came last year and it was fantastic. Back again and even better. Staff attentive and efficient and very helpful. Food amazing. Servings enormous! No booking but we were seated within a minute and the drinks arrived within 3 mins. Food arrived 5 mins later. Beautifully cooked and piping hot. Would recommend this place to anyone. Will be back next time we are in Sunderland. Thank you to all the staff xxx
We had an amazing time for our family night out! The staff was lovely and provided us with a speedy service. I cannot stress how delicious the food is and if you are a lobster lover like myself, then you have to try the Surf and Turf! The lemon sorbet was unbelievable too :)
Delicious Sunday lunch, all of the meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection, gravy was super tasty. Staff were lovely and helpful. 100% will be back again and 100% recommend.
I left one bar very disapointed and walked in to the rain. Next door I saw aperitif restaurant/bar place and decided to try it out. It was great! I mean everything! Its a very small place and this Is what I like. I got carbonara, 3 cocktails and biscof desert. I spent 30£. First of all, 30£??? How did I spent just that? Second of all omg the desert looked fantastic! The food in general was good. And I will 100% come back! I was served by 3 staff members all of them were lovely, its nice to see genuine smiles! I loved it there and I didnt want to leave! Thank you x
Wow a great little find and right next to Sunderland Empire theatre. The food we had was tasty fresh and plentyful. Great value for money the staff are fabulous so helpful they make you feel so welcome !

The staff were really welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Service was good, food was delicious and very reasonably priced.
We'd certainly book again if we're in Sunderland.

Great quality food and also very competitive price for a city centre restaurant. We had a great couples meal here. Authentic Italian cuisine and lovely drinks as well.

First visit to Aperitif pre show at the Empire.
Fantastic menu, superb staff and excellent food.
We both ordered starters and mains which were served quickly and looked amazing.
Chicken mains with different sauces (rosemary and a peppercorn)we had were both excellent in flavour with veg or chips as a side.
I would highly recommend the homemade chips.
Smaller place than many local restaurants which can be a good or bad thing depending on preference.
We found it was rather pushy after only 45 minutes at our booked table pre show.
If you haven't asked for your bill don't force your customers out by placing it on the table!
This was a shame as it could have been 5 stars otherwise.
Seph and Laura were excellent, good fun and very attentive.

Fantastic restaurant, excellent food, lovely staff, nice atmosphere and great cocktails.
Portion sizes are very generous but doesn't impact on the quality, I highly recommend the Surf & Turf, the best meal I've had in a long time.

Visited for the first time before a show at the empire. Food was lovely, service good only complaint can give is we were very rushed as it was busy. Literally came with the bill while we were having desert and started to clean the table while we were still sitting there.
Was there yesterday 17.09.23 and the food was out of this world i had seafood with tagliatelle will be coming back best food ive tasted 10 /10
Went here on the 20/4/22. For my daughter 30th. 18 ov us. Couldn't ov asked for a better place to go. Staff were great and on the ball. Food was absolutely beautiful. Defo be going back and well recommended.

Firstly I couldn't fault the food or service. The food was really well cooked and presented. Staff were incredibly friendly and always checked if we needed anything else. The only issue we had was that we felt rushed. We sat down at half past 7, and by 8 o clock, we had already fished our starter and main course. In the future I'd like a bit of time between courses to enjoy company or get another drink in. But this is only personal preference. Still would visit again.
Edit* Upon sitting outside with our drinks after food, a couple asked us if we should eat here. We told them the food is really good, and they went in. One of the staff heard us, and as a think you, he brought us out a baby guiness shot on the house. Nice touch

Wow! What can I say, absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch very reasonably priced, my only gripe if at all would be no parsnips, but there’s plenty enough food anyway. Staff are polite and friendly. Advice would be to book in advance and pre-order your roast when booking as they do run out. Will definitely be returning.
