Having been intrigued by the Mexican tacos and following their social media, a post online of the soft shell crab taco had me hot footing along for a tea time treat. We ordered loaded nachos to share and three tacos each from the extensive menu, the staff were very friendly and helpful making suggestions and checking for any food allergies or veggie/vegan leanings. I must say the nachos were delicious, freshly cooked and really really loaded. Five meat tacos and the aforementioned soft shelled crab came along when they were ready as everything is cooked to order, small plates, well presented and a bargain. Delicious. I'll have to return, the wings looked fantastic on the next table and the veggie options will delight the small child. I can't recommend this place enough.

Aw man, if you like Mexican food, prepare to be amazed; if you think you don’t like Mexican food, prepare to start telling people about how much you like Mexican food! I had three tacos - the pork carnitas, the Korean pork belly and the tequila steak - and all of them were amazing. My friends tried the baja cod tacos and the soft shell crab tacos and were raving about them too. The drinks are also great; I stuck to Micheladas - kind of like a Bloody Mary but with beer instead of vodka (sounds weird but tastes amazing!) - most of the night, but tried a few of the speciality tequilas and margaritas too. All good! In conclusion: this place is the best thing to happen to Sunderland since The Golden Virgins. GET ON IT, SUNDERLANDERS

Absolutely amazing bait. We sampled many tacos including baja cod, tequila steak, Korean belly pork, soft shell crab. All superb! The nachos were the best I've ever had. Padron peppers and the pork scratching are so damn good. Really enjoyed our visit, love the decor, music and the atmosphere. We will be back every chance we can get!

Had a wide selection of the divine morsels on offer and EVERYTHING was delicious. Super inventive menu, should have taken photos but there wasn't enough time because the food was so inviting. Really love the decor and ambience! The freshest place to eat and drink in town. The best of luck to Neil, Ben, Paul and everyone that works there!

What a fantastic, exciting, warm, friendly and welcoming place to eat and drink in Sunderland. The food was fresh and delicious. A sublime variety of meat, veggie and vegan delights to provide any culinary needs you wish to fulfil. Drinks you wont find anywhere else in Sunderland specially shipped in to Mexico 70. Lovely Continental flavours. The perfect place for a post work eat/drink unwind, while also a friendly, comfortable cool spot to have a little snack and drinks on a night out. Outdoor balcony and sitting area in the back for the smokers and fresh air types too!! Affordable prices and super friendly staff. So pleased Sunderland has somewhere like this. Highly recommended.

Something different and for the prices well worth a visit! Beef teriyaki, Pork carnitas and the Korean pork belly tacos were spot on and with prices being a couple of quid we'll worth a visit. Buffalo wings were spicy I added habanero sauce to spice it up a little. Tequila Steak fries were delightful with that home made guacamole all round good food will be back for more.

Possibly the best tacos I've had in my life - the soft shell crab is sublime. Its one of those places where you just go for it - sample a few tequilas, order a michelada and soak up the inspired music. We did just that and had a top top night. Highly recommended.

Staff were friendly and welcoming, they walked me through the menu. There is a good selection of soft shell tacos on the menu all with a fusion style twist. I ordered a Baja Cod taco which was really tasty but the stand out was the Vietnamese Beef. The meat was tender and well seasoned and every ingredient played a part in bringing together a well rounded dish that I'm still thinking about 2 weeks later. If I lived closer this would be a frequent visit

Very cool place to eat or have some cocktails. We got three Tacos each and some Fries, which was the perfect amount. The service was very friendly and helpful. Each taco is brought out when it is ready, which helps keep things fresh.

Really, really good food. Cocktails were excellent and interesting, and the service was spot on. The soft shell taco with pulled beef was unreal! Really good vegan options too. Only thing I'd not order again was the guac -£6 for a few nachos and guac when you can get more chips or another taco for less!

Delicious fresh food, brill atmosphere and great service. This is a Mexican Tapas style restaurant where 3 taco Tapas each is recommended. Theres a large variety of Tapas. I had muergez, prawn and the vietnamese beef. Each was generous and full of fresh flavours. We shared nachos with delicious guac and loaded fries which were cooked to perfection. Three tacos for £9.99 on Tuesdays is an excellent deal. The cocktail menu looked great too. I loved the fun but moody atmosphere. My friend and I relaxed for the evening chatting and nibbling. Great for foodies and fans of casual dining. Recommend!

Third time visiting yesterday, basically tried the full menu by this point. Can't recommend this place enough. Food, drinks, service and atmosphere have been faultless every time. Impressive 3:2 meat:vegan taco ratio, without skimping on vegan options for sides and extras. In my experience, it's rare that a restaurant that has so many meat options that they execute vegan dishes to an equally high standard (my partner is vegan). The tacos themselves are well and truly the main event with each encompassing bold flavours, with every element balanced - no flavour or component being lost in the mix. The menu is definitely Mexican fusion, with alot of Asian inspiration, but we're here for it. We're always impressed, and will continue visiting from Durham when we can - it's worth the journey!

First time we have visited Mexico 70 and it certainly won't be the last! We have been desperate to find somewhere local that does great Mexican street food and this has not disappointed. From the second we walked in the door, we were given such a warm welcome and provided with recommendations of food/drinks we may like to try. The staff were fabulous and the food was stunning. Everything tasted so fresh looking vibrant and inviting. Just perfect! The recommendations were spot on and we can't wait to return. Thanks to everyone for such a great visit. :)

Visited here last Monday. Great food. Great drinks. Our server George was amazing- single handedly taking food and drink orders, bringing food out and doing check backs. Nice atmosphere and amazing margaritas. Will be back / although I can’t help feel the stress of only having 2 people on shift tinted the atmosphere a bit. Mr and other diners commented on how stressed the waiter was. We could not relax knowing someone was stressing to bits trying to do everything. In my opinion more staff needed

First time visiting here and certainly won't be the last. Lovely Mexican tacos and equal split of meat/fish to vegan ratio. I'm pescatarian so ordered a couple of fish and couple of vegan tacos. We shared loaded Crayfish fries which were lovely. Margarita cocktails went down a treat before the theatre and staff were lovely. Definitely recommend.

A must visit in Sunderland! Couldn't fault the staff with how friendly and informative they were. The owner took our food order and suggested complimentary dishes to what we were ordering which definitely upgraded our meals. We got 3 tacos each, 3 sides, 2 fries and extra bread between 3 of us which was way too much, I think 1 fries and 2 sides would have been better suited. Excited to visit again!

I rarely think anywhere is worthy of a review, so when I say this place is incredible I really do mean it. Everything we had was amazing. The Korean pork belly taco might be one of the most enjoyable bites I’ve ever had. Top notch service and excellent cocktails rounded out a wonderful meal. Don’t miss out.

First time here and first time trying home made soft tacos. First of all the staff are lovely and very friendly. My husband is a vegetarian, there was loads of choice for him which was great. You are advised to choose 3 tacos and sides. We chose 3 tacos each, pickled veg and 2 portions of chips. The serving of the food was a little strange. We got the pickled veg, then one taco. Then 5 minutes later we got the fries. Then about 3 mins later 2 more tacos came. Then 5 mins past and the rest of them came. I don’t know wether this is supposed to be how you get them but I would of liked them all to arrive at once. My husband really enjoyed his tacos, I enjoyed the fries and veg. It’s a lovely quirky place, however the toilets are a bit creepy. Being pitch black and only red bulbs on. Also the water didn’t come out of the taps at all so I was stuck with soap on my hands. 4 star is literally for the lovely staff and veggie tacos.

My goodness, probably one of the nicest most delicious meals I've had in a long while the flavours were amazing could have eaten more but that would just have been greedy and it would have spoiled it, my ice cold corona, lime & tequila cocktail with thyme was delish. The staff were excellent explaining anything that was required, polite, cheerful and very helpful even the owner was out chatting and serving people which you don't see very often. Great atmosphere, good music....I can't recommend this place enough, give it a try I will definitely be going back. 👍👍

Very eclectic street food menu. We really enjoyed all of our tacos, buffalo wings and dirty fries. It is pricey 3.50 for one small taco with no sides but it very good. We will be back.

Very nice. Surprisingly so. Still a tad too "cool" for me, but enjoyable nonetheless. Friendly service, good choice of food, outstanding margarita.

The rustic decor and friendly service make this a great place to visit before a show at the Empire Theatre. The tequila menu (get the Don Julio Reposado!) and tacos are tasty and help to get the evening (and the party) started.
