Today we had the take out lunch! Wow the food was amazing! Also the packaging was great and the food was piping hot when we got it back to work. Definitely recommend and will be back!
Had a beautiful meal with my other half and Angolo's has swiftly moved to top of my list of favourite places to eat. Staff were so polite and friendly, service was amazing and didn't feel any pressure to hurry, as we have previously in other restaurants. Will definitely recommend.
Lovely meal before the match this evening. Very welcoming and friendly. Our meal was tasty and the staff were so friendly. Will definitely recommend to friends bad family! Thank you to all the staff.
Nice having your own restaurant to yourself. Staff very attentive could not do enough for you very welcoming a very nice experience. Just opened on a Monday afternoon. Portion size for the bigger appetite extremely tasty.
The staff welcomed us very warmly and were very helpful, the place is beautiful and has a real warm family run atmosphere, the food was beautifully presented and incredibly tasty. There was a little bit of drama from a table behind us but the staff handled it very well and closed it down very quickly. Overall we had a very fantastic night and enjoyed every minute and would definitely recommend it for a romantic night out.
9 of us went after my daughter graduated. All of us found the food and service top quality. Great atmosphere too. Would definitely recommend the lamb shank 😋😋. And seafood pasta. Delish 👏👏
What an amazing surprise!
It's not hidden, but it certainly isn't in a frequently trafficked area. And what a shame for anyone who doesn't take the time to discover this charming and wonderful Italian restaurant.
I just happened to be walking by and the next thing I know the lovely co-owner has taken my name (with the "Italian spelling") and signed me up for 7pm. Good thing too because when I arrived, the front entrance was crowded. Of course it was with all of the 16 year olds that inhabit this city. Honestly, if your not between the ages of 12 to 17 or 58 to 79 Sunderland is not the place for you. Weird!
Anyway I digress... The waiter was a bit over the top with the "born in Sicily" persona, but it was fun seeing him correct all of my mispronunciations. As if...
His wine recommendation was spot on and I never got the sense that he wasn't genuinely enjoying himself. Always a contagious affectation in the restaurant business. Bless him!
The food was fantastic. My appertizer of mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto was delicious. And when paired with the garlic accoutrement it was incredibly satisfying. And my god! The entree... Lamb shank and mashed potatoes. Just heavenly! I was told that it was cooked for 48 hours and the way it just fell apart at the most delicate of encouragement from my fork confirmed that perhaps 48hours was an understatement.
This is why I love dining out. Despite all of the pressure from the chains (I just read that 5 Guys Burgers was opening a jillion more stores... Yayyyyy!) they are places like Angelo's still available for us to be seduced into experiencing a truly memorable meal. And why are we working so hard for our money if not to be pampered by an over the top waiter and a genius chef.
Absolutely money well spent.
Me and 5 others went for bottomless brunch, 5 adults 1 x14 year old. Fed and Christina were very funny and made the experience very enjoyable. We will be back
We came on a Thursday night and we were able to get a table quickly. Service was really good and the food is worth every penny and more. The rack of lamb they served is the most delicious one I ate and will reorder it when I come back. Awesome!
Delicious food. Lovely service. Music on the loud side, but that's being extra picky. I'll be back at some point I'm sure.
Me and a friend of mine stopped for a dinner and the bruschetta and pasta was delicious. It was only two of us at the restaurant as it was an early dinner. We also tried some Italian larger beer that was quite good I thought. Staff was all Italian and they were very warm and welcoming.
Stunning fine Italian cuisine. This little gem is hidden in a quiet and pleasant part of Sunderland. We have now had the pleasure of both lunch and dinner meals. Both times the food was unrivalled in quality and flavour. As soon as you look at the menu you can be sure you are in for a treat. Angelo's is the only restaurant I know of that serves pasta dishes with just as much variety as the other main dishes. I highly recommend the strozzapreti pasta either with the puttanesca sauce or the salsicce & friarelli. (Award winning also)
Bellisimo!
Not a fault! We always visit when we are in the area as we know we will have a great meal and experience! Its been a while but we revisited tonight and it was again a fantastic meal. The food is exquisite, the staff are friendly and professional, the setting is cosy, and relaxing, what more do you want!
We have visited this restaurant several times,
today again Angelo's produced an outstanding beautiful meal we called in for our lunch
For starters we both had mozzarella prosciutto, this was beautifully presented and tasted delicious
Our main course i had penne vodka and salmone this tasted delicious and well presented, my husband had penne boscaiola which was also delicious.
The restaurant is very clean and the staff are very professional, well dressed and polite.
We had a rose wine which was lovely and went well with the pasta ,the meal was excellent value for money and we will definitely visit again.
Best Italian restaurant in Sunderland.
Fantastic service. Excellent food. Highly recommended we will be back.
Visited for lunch, had the chefs special of spaghetti with lobster, absolutely amazing. Will definitely visit again.
Traveled from Newcastle to visit this great restaurant after some friends recommended it. Totally worth it. The food was fantastic along with the service and the atmosphere. Lamb sank is one the signature dishes and is a must try!
Thank you for a wonderful night! Anyone who hasn't tried the testing menu, just needs to! Every course was amazing, the service and attention to detail was second to none. Forza Angelo's e grazie mille a tutti
It's rare for me to venture out of paleo purgatory - but Angelo's swayed me with friendly staff and authentic, luxurious Italian food. I had the award winning lamb with homemade aubergine ravioli and roasted potato - an experience I highly recommend for anyone who wants to step our of the smoggy outside and into a little slice of Italy.
Out for my son in laws 50th birthday. Great service and food .1st time here but not the last
This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes and special menu, beautiful presentation, wide wine list and wonderful dessert. I recommend to everyone!
