A lovely spot with a winning view of the Thames (if you’re brave enough to sit outside in the chilly winter months) with a homey ambience.
The food was really delicious, good traditional pub meals that are hearty and flavoursome - we all enjoyed every bite! I had the beer battered fish and chips and even though I had to scrap off the batter because of my wheat intolerance, the meal was top notch, tender fish and crispy chips all with deliciously smooth mushy peas to top it off. I’d definitely recommended this dish.
The waiter was great too, quick and friendly, adding to the experience when he joked along with us.
The pub was however very pricey, especially for us South Africans!!! We were a bit blown away when the bill arrived, but put it down to a great experience! Not sure I’ll be able to come back in a hurry, but really worth it if you have some extra cash lying around!
A hidden gem, just off the Sunbury gardens, the best time to visit is on a hot sunny day. Remember to book at busier times. Love to eat and watch the boats sail by
Lovely pub, outdoor area is really nice to sit out on a sunny day and having the river there also!
Food was really nice, no complaints, only thing that was a shame the sandwiches are not served over the weekend but apart from that, food was lovely and would eat there again
We tried the Magpie for Easter supper, there were 10 of us. We had a private room over looking the River Thames. Beautiful and very bright and sunny.
Food was lovely. Even though they'd already run out of lamb, everyone found something to enjoy. Wait staff was attentive, I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Beautiful location for a pub facing the river. Really good service; average food (burger ok but fish and chips had way too much batter on it).
Lovely aspect of river frontage. A good old fashioned British pub offering a decent menu well cooked. Very good friendly service too. Good value and worth a visit as plenty of parking opposite. Not good for limited mobility as steps to access and interior area on different levels

First visit - Lovely atmosphere! Table next to the river , beautiful view. Excellent service and delicious food. Good size portions at a reasonable price.
Would recommend and definitely visit again.
Had a fantastic evening here last week with a friend. Started with a lovely glass of dry rose and as we were discussing the menu the waiter walked past and offered to take our order. We didn’t even have to stand up! The meals we choose were the fish and chips - classic and well executed (fat chips with perfectly cooked fish in crisp batter). Plus a fish finger burger (which didn’t come with bread and butter as the description suggested) but a delicious ‘home made’ chip shop curry sauce. So tasty that as I was praising it the waiter again walked past and asked if I’d like some more which she duly brought me. Such attentive service and excellent food. Will visit again soon before the cooler nights begin.
Booked a table, for three humans and a dog called Sherlock. Loved it! Food out of this world!
The barstaff was very friendly, even let us taste test what was on tap. The food was incredible! Highly recommend stopping in for a pint and the camemberet. Yum!
Stunning little spot to stop for a drink and food. We only had home made sausage rolls and chips, but they were delish and more importantly fresh. Although we didn’t have any, the burgers and fish and chips looked fantastic. Try and get a spot on the river and watch the world float by
Held my son and daughters christening at the magpie and had such a lovely day... The staff were so helpful and friendly they couldn't do enough for us. They even set up a colouring table for the children. The food was perfect and the whole day overall was lovely. Would 100 percent recommend this venue! Thank you for making our day run smoothly and everything you done for us :)
The Magpie is superb! The views, the food and the service were all excellent tonight after having not been for a while. The food in particular has really stepped up! We loved our dinner here, thank you!
Fantastic place. We were greeted upon entry and given excellent service throughout our meal. The fish and chips were spot on, crispy batter and perfectly cooked fish. Chips were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, a real credit to the chef. Cold hoppy IPA on tap and a nice view of the yoghurt pots moored opposite the beer garden. This was easily the best place I have been to on the river. 10/10
The Magpie is a traditional pub located on the banks of the River Thames in Sunbury on Thames. The pub has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a large fireplace and plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the beer selection, which includes a variety of local and national ales. The food menu features classic pub fare, such as burgers, fish and chips, and pies.
What a beautiful establishment this is and what a view. One can have a marvellous time sitting outside and enjoying the view, weather permitting. I did not have a meal but weather and drinks were outstanding.
Beautiful pub with stunning terrace over the river Thames. On our visit sudden heavy rain at lunch time (Wimbledon weather!) , customers in the terrace had to be moved inside. Because of that, we waited over an 1 hour for our food. Despite being quite annoyed, the staff and management were absolutely professional and very friendly. Thank you and we will be back. Food was great.
