Really recommended!
About 15 of us descended on The Gainsborough this afternoon to celebrate our 1st anniversary in business. The service was great, all friendly staff and the waiter was really great about keeping us updated that the food was a big order and could take a little longer. Everyone commented on how fab the food was, big portions and well presented. Fab place with lovely outside area. Thanks for accommodating us all so well!
The quality of the food is well worth the money, plus the staff are also attentive & very friendly , would highly recommend The Gainsborough �

Have eaten there a few times there over the past couple of months and it is really fabulous. REALLY good food and the staff are very helpfull as well. Thoroughly recommend their cocktails
Organised a table for 12 my partners 50th birthday meal. I took all the balloons, banners and cake down at lunchtime ready for the evening. When we arrived the area had all been set up ready with the decorations and it looked really good. We all enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal, the food is excellent. The birthday cupcakes were bought out later all presented on the stand I provided. Nothing was any trouble at all. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening �
Visited again yesterday evening, 8 of us booked in for a Christmas dinner, and once again we weren't disappointed, lovely 3 courses, cooked and presented perfectly, plenty enough on the plate and didn't leave feeling hungry as I have done in other establishments, well done to the chefs and barstaff, we were well looked after all evening, will be visiting again soon, thanks again and merry Christmas to Darren and all of his staff �
Brilliant family sunday roast dinner. We all really enjoyed the food which was really well cooked and large portions. Great atmosphere in this well run family pub.😀
We chose the Gainsborough for an important family reunion. What a great team of staff! They made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The lunch was most enjoyable and the price reasonable. I have rarely had such attentive staff from a pub/restaurant and would most certainly visit again. My thanks to Philip, who made the booking, and all the wonderful staff who looked after us so well when we visited.
I have had several lunch meals here and am never disappointed. The food is high quality with a varied menu. I would highly recommend this pub. They are always friendly and accommodating even when we brought our dog in to have a coffee and cake. Our dog got a free doggy biscuit! We love this little gem.
Went for lunch with a friend. Friendly and speedy service. We both had the fish n chips - good sized portions but the chips were lukewarm and the fish although nicely cooked needed seasoning. Wasn't keen on the large wooden boards it was served on - prefer hot plates to keep food hot and more hygienic as can go through a dishwasher
Had a fantastic meal at The Gainsborough for my husbands birthday. The meal was delicious, a very generous portion size, there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. I would certainly recommend
Had a lovely Friday lunch with my mother. We both picked a vegetarian option and they were very tasty. The service was good and our waitress very helpful and pleasant.
We will be visiting again.

We have visited The Gainsborough tonight (13.06.2022) as we are visiting Sudbury from the West Midlands. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Thai Green Curry which was bursting with flavour and so filling. The spice was just enough to give it a kick but wasn’t unpleasant or too spicy! My mom had the chicken supreme with new potatoes and asparagus. The potato’s were so tasty and slightly minted, chicken had lots of flavour and was very juicy. The pub clearly uses local fresh produce as the asparagus sprigs we’re huge and full of flavour.
The staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We choose a table and a lovely lady polished it up and provided menus and took a drinks order. The drinks were brought to our table quickly and the wait for food wasn’t too long. The waiter checked back on us to ensure everything was okay with our meals to which it was outstanding! The waiter provided us with pudding menus and although we were so tempted by the Eton Mess we were absolutely stuffed.
In the background there was a great atmosphere as the pub quiz was taking place. The quiz master was really funny for fun me and my mom had ago at answering the questions.
Overall, we had a fantastic evening at The Gainsborough, fantastic quality food, good value for money, friendly & accommodating staff and great atmosphere! We highly recommend!
Just had a Superb roast here for 4 people and we all enjoyed it immensely, service and food all well above standard , plenty of folk in here enjoying a great atmosphere !

Nice pub. Asked for a little bite from the menu as only wanted a small meal. Told it was children's meals. Wasn't willing to serve ime at first., until said I'll go somewhere else. Then told could order if I wanted to. When food came, it was really nicely presented. Not like a child's meal as first told. The menu needed to be reworded to light bites, not Little bites. Was rather misleading, and nearly lost a customer.
A warm friendly welcome as soon as you enter and a good choice of beers/ales.
There are some great food deals, with the one we particularly like being the Pie and a Pint on Tuesdays (£14.95 @June 2023). These come served with mashed potato and vegetables and, unlike in some other places, they are full of meat.
Just been for the first time to this pub what a fantastic night , fanatic food and brilliant service would highly recommend this pub to anyone. We will definitely be going back ,and a great playlist too. Vincent Grist and family
Wow, what a gem of a pub. Great food, great music, great atmosphere and the staff were fantastic, so friendly. Having moved here recently, we will definitely frequent this establishment often. The moo moo burger was amazing, especially with the the homemade sauces.
A lovely setting for my daughters hen day, especially as we were made welcome with only a weeks notice after we were let down by another company. Great mud treatments, clean facilities, friendly staff and a peaceful atmosphere helped make our day one to remember.
We had steaks and a bottle of Pinot Grigio on the Tuesday deal. Brill value for two superbly cooked stakes. Thanks to all concerned.
First time at this pub ,really friendly, good live music, great cocktails..Nice outdoor erea as well, would definitely like to visit there again.
Incredible food, great service, they are very kind and it made for a wonderful lunch.

Great place. Visited twice during a 3 day visit. They sell draught Neck Oil! Fabulous!! I had a very pleasant and reasonably priced burger, with fries and salad.
