The Retreat - Stroud - Photo album

Friendly pub, old fashioned pub . Clean and well presented in a traditional style. No food available on a Friday evening although platters of cheese and passata on toasted bread were put out on the bar as a freebie. Some herbs and chilli worked really well in the mix. Just great with a couple of pin
Very friendly staff, good beer choices, dog friendly, small courtyard garden, some food but quite limited. Was put off a little buy the local drunks pawing at my wife but they were fairly harmless and not the fault of the pub which is nice.
My friend and I came here for a casual afternoon drink on a weekend. They’ve got a small walled garden that’s perfect for sunny days. There’s a good selection of beers and ciders at reasonable prices.
One of the best roasts I've eaten in a while, and reasonably priced too!
An excellent pub with a great selection of food and various drink, including wine, beer and spirits. This pub has a lovely area with a real fire stove which is very comfortable, this pub also features an outdoor covered smoking area with a log burning stove for the colder days. Overall this is an e
Delicious lunch accompanied by a well recommended red, from a small though well curated list. Staff are very welcoming and know their stuff. Love the location just off the High Street so quiet but with just the right ambience. The photographic exhibition added a further artistic element which was mu
Cracking pub, friendly service, cool industrial style interior with a little hidden outdoor seating spot. Worth a visit.
Great find on a busy Saturday lunchtime in Stroud. Easy non complicated menu, very quick service, which was handy with two young children in the party! Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere, just busy enough but not crazy. Thanks!
The Retreat is a slice of heaven down a little passage in the middle of Stroud's busy shopping centre. A roaring log fire and an excellent selection of beers welcome visitors to this delightful hostelry. The staff are always warm and friendly. There is an upbeat, lively atmosphere which makes it p
Great amazing. It's in a wall! In a lane Very easy to miss. Very big in side. And a garden I didn't see. The pub was full. We where running late. Just a quick lunch. Before we went to the mention.
Great food, great atmosphere, excellent house wines. Lovely tiny garden area, which now has a cover when it's raining, perfect on a warm day. Nowhere is really cool right now, but The Retreat was not too bad at all 😄
Felt almost like old times.. ie pre covid restrictions. Great selection of spirits.. Highly recommend the Botanist gin. Very smooth. Good menu of small plates and sandwiches. Menu was slightly reduced on choice when we went due to staff holidays. Not long reopened and seemed popular with a wide age
Gorgeous lunch in front of a roaring log fire. My caponata was spot-on but I had 'dish envy' for my friend's fish stew! This is such a cosy and inviting place to eat, with great service. A really special lunch.
Found this delight on Saturday, what can say but compliments to the Chef, the staff were welcoming and friendly, the back ground music just right, altogether a very enjoyable experience, please take a look.
Fantastic food, staff ready to make your day more colourful with wit and charm, and the beer is good too. It's now my essential stop every time I visit Stroud. Highly recommend any of the food, never had a meal anything less than excellent.
Good pub with decent beer garden and nice staff. Food wasn't bad but didn't really sample the main courses.
Lovely friendly atmosphere, great drinks and awesome people working. Thanks 😊
Cool atmosphere when it gets busy. Decent selection of drinks too. Slightly out of the way, but worth getting off the beaten track for.
Really nice pub. Bit of a good find down a side street. Worth a visit.
