Dined here over the weekend on Friday night, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning.
Their menu is adequately varied with a menu similar to weatherspoons basic pub grub, though the quality of the meat mains was superior.
Their breakfast, however, was great value for money. for 7.99 you can have an unlimited continental breakfast, including pastries, pancakes, crumpets, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, and I’m sure this is not exhaustive.
For just £2 more you can have unlimited hot food too! Beans, sausages, hash browns, bacon, mushroom, black pudding, the works!
The only thing I had and didn’t think was good value for money was the max and cheese bites. Unpleasant texture and very bland and expensive.
Visited here a few weeks ago in the middle of a work crisis and the lady who runs the place was an absolute angel- she helped me out so much, was so kind and hospitable and really went the extra mile. I was blown away by how lovely she was and how much everyone went out of their way- letting me stay there whilst I worked everything out and being super friendly and welcoming. Had a lovely coffee- would absolutely recommend this place it was a dream to find it ! Thank you guys for saving my day :)
The food in this place cooked by Richard the Chef has been absolutely brilliant the whole time I've stayed in the hotel adjacent for the previous month.
The staff are absolutely brilliant, how they provide such a service when the restaurant is so busy is simply amazing.
I'm currently working away and have stayed in hotels that have restaurants with a more premium price, the service received there with a smaller restaurant does not compare at all.
From the breakfast to supper, this restaurant is the absolute business.
Professional and personal, almost perfect you could say.
It may look tired, but you'll feel the energy when you walk in.

This was a great Brewers Fayre experience with good quality food on our visit (better than other restaurants in the chain have been to recently). The staff were friendly & helpful, a lovely location opposite the scenic Stratford Park, decent sized car park and set in an impressive building, at least compared to the more usual modern ones that the chain normally occupy. If you like visiting Brewers Fayre then this one is recommended!
All you can eat for £8.99 and kids go free, so considering this price, for two breakfast and drinks, it was an absolute bargain.
Due to Covid, it is table service, I believe it is normally buffet style, and there were only three servers, a fourth came on later as we were leaving.
Therefore, the service was a little slow, but not bad enough to get annoyed. The staff were friendly, genuinely apologetic for the wait, and no-one seemed to be complaining as you could see how busy they were.
Food tasted nice, I would certainly go again.
First time we have been here for years and we really enjoyed food. Staff were friendly and helpful. So good we booked for Boxing Day.
Good food cooked perfectly. Friendly staff. Minimal wait for food. Can not fault the service we received tonight. Recommended for a visit
Amazingly priced decent buffet breakfast. Well worth a visit. Staff super friendly, loos nice and clean and very good coffee. Didnt try the Guinness (it was breakfast, come on!!! :)
Food was ok but not special. The staff were fantastic. It is what it is a cheaper meal out. Don’t knock it 😀
Brilliant place to go for a meal and will always keep going back. The only downside is that if you order prawn cocktail, they do serve it with bread and butter but unfortunately the butter is solid as if its come from the freezer so it's absolutely useless and can't be used
We wish to praise one of the waiting staff, Louise. Always so cheerful and helpful. We like coming to the Old Nelson when we hear that she is on duty as she is so efficient and friendly.
Only stopped for a drink whilst waiting for a friend.......the lad behind the bar was very friendly which made me feel welcome.....the food smelt great and lots of elderly eating here which is always a good sign! 👍
Nice place to have a meal. Staff were helpful and friendly. We were a party of 15 and service was prompt even with our picky eaters.
Tried 3 different Brewers Fayres' in Gloucestershire and this one was the
best by far.The whole experience was
worth the extra travelling .Especially the
food which was spot on.
The other two were let down by cold
food and a bad experience involving
a disgustingly dirty disabled toilet.
Great Carvery on a busy Sunday..
Disappointed:- they REFUSE to stock NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER.. so as "duty driver", l drank .. WATER 😱😱
Food prices good if you use special offers. 2 for 1 mains were good value and tasty. We only go between 12 and 6 to get deals. Drink not as cheap as Spoons but reasonable.
Offers all you can eat breakfast with real value for money and really close the Stratford Park with lake which was lovely.
