Don't judge a book by its cover.... the unprepossessing building might not attract you in, but if you pass by you are missing a treat. Great quality and value menu that changes frequently and is all authentic proper food. No microwaved factory meals here, and please leave room for what must be the best ice cream I've tasted this century. The guest ale was not to my liking, but I just happened to choose a week when the Fyne Ales beer was a dark one. I'll just have to go back for a yellow beer one Fyne day! Shame it's a long way from Birmingham

We stayed the weekend at the Bellevue and wandered to the Strone just down the road for a drink with husband and 2 dogs. The weather was fantastic so we sat outside and listened and joined in the the locals conversations, what a lovely, friendly, dog friendly place. The dogs even got free treats, we had to pay for ours lol. It was that friendly we went again on Saturday night and went inside, the staff and owners are very welcoming. We did not eat there but the meal's they brought out looked really good. Great pub.

Had a lovely 5 course taster meal accompanied by different wines and a whiskey throughout each course and commentary on each wine, all for Β£35. Absolutely fabulous value for money and a chance to taste something more exotic. Norma (Aberfeldy)

Great food , friendly atmosphere , good ales and whiskies. Shaun and Stephen, the owners, back in front line tonight as Linda away. Good to see you lads. Your French menu was a big success as far as we were concerned. Enjoyed the fare and the Springbank Whisky. #FranceAndScotland #AuldAlliance

We always enjoy our Sunday Lunches at The Strone Inn, the starters are always tempting but we know the portions are large so we go straight to the main course, on Sunday it's a choice of two roasts, always beautifully cooked and served with fresh vegetables and tasty gravy; for dessert I usually have the one with the most double cream and last Sunday's Rasberry Mille-feuille did not disappoint!

Had a lovely meal tonight, fresh mussels to start followed by the battered haddock and homemade chips! And a few drinks round the open fire! Highly recommended for food out with Dunoon town centre, we chose the bus there and back which meant no hassles at all as to who would drive! Stephen & Shaun - great hosts!x

Really great food served by lovely friendly people. Not a big place so let them know you're coming if not local. Can recommend the beef pie, and the excellent vegetarian options. The cheese plate was delightfully controversial but might be the most generous we've seen in the UK.

You'll always get a warm welcome at The Strone Inn and Thur-Sun you're guaranteed wonderful homemade food using local ingredients, lovingly made by Linda. It also boasts an extensively stocked gantry! Booking is ALWAYS advised as demand is high, another plus is that well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area. Brilliant local pub!

OMG My son and I had a meal today. The service was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly and inviting and the food was to die for. I had the beef chunks and my son the steak and guiness pie. 20/10. We will be back. We live locally and also couldn't believe the portion sizes. Fit for a king or queen.
