What a little gem of a pub. The food was simple but so well cooked and tasty. The skin on chips are some of the best I’ve had in a long time. The sandwich was stuffed full and the bread was fresh and home made. A rare treat to find such good quality unpretentious food at a good price. Well done to you all

Lunch today was very good, very friendly staff and whole place looked lovely following recent refurbishment. Very different from the old Two Brewers. Also much better menu choices too. Will definitely make it a regular venue for lunch again. .

Our first visit back to this pub after several awful experiences with the previous owner/manager and what a difference!! Food was lovely. Decor has improved tremendously. Tentative service with polite, welcoming staff. We will definitely be returning and bringing the family with us.

Everything about this little gem gets five stars from us. The rooms were simple but immaculate and very reasonably priced. We had breakfast and an evening meal which were plentiful, imaginative and delicious.

First time here ... one night stay with our dogs. Room v. clean & has small fridge which was a plus. The staff were great fantastic service with a smile both last night in the bar and when having breakfast this morning. The food was excellent last night and this morning ... I'd keep hold of the Chef no way would I let her/ him leave. Lovely green open space 200 yards away for the dogs. Couldn't be happier and would recommend.

We needed somewhere halfway to meet our friends from Corsham ( we were coming from Wellington) and how lucky were we to decide to come to The King Alfred. The staff are really friendly and they made sure that we had everything we needed. The food (Sunday carvery) was perfectly cooked...2 choices of meat..it was beef and pork when we visited and a lovely choice of vegetables to accompany them. The portions are very generous..I failed to finish mine but doggie boxes were provided and my pack of 4 enjoyed the leftovers too. The desserts are not to be missed... even if you can't manage a whole one...share with someone so you don't miss out!!!!!. The prices are very reasonable too. If you get the chance to visit...don't hesitate...

Nice meal, ribs were substantial with quality salad and chips. Helpful staff and a car park, so good to visit in the pouring rain.

Slightly stale pub smell, it was very quiet only 4 customers including us . The food was very good and well presented, but the table was grubby and drink marked.

Booked a table for Sunday carvery with my family which was delicious but the real star of the show has to be a toss up between the malteaser meringue or the banoffee pie, both amazing!! Lovely pub with the friendliest staff ❤️

Fantastic hosts, and wonderful food. Warm and welcoming, Charlie and Nita make The King Alfred a pleasure to visit and nothing is too much trouble. All food is cooked to order, so you may have to wait, but it is worth it. We highly recommend the pizza!

4.5 Stars! Lovely, quiet relaxing roast with the young family. The bar tender was very attentive and accommodating for our children and there were lovely high chairs and activities for the 4yr old too. Portable baby changing table available behind the bar and the roast was nice too - just the right size.

Food was good for the price and simple but just what we needed from a local pub. Staff were very attentive. Glasses and cutlery mostly clean. Clean tables and seating, nice decor. Loos were lovely!
