We decided to come to the cuan for a meal for my sons first communion and can honestly say it's been one of the nicest meals I have eaten but the service and staff went well above and beyond to make my sons day the best they even bought him a football and put money in a card for him and when my little 4 month old niece wouldn't settle they held her so my sister could eat her meal. Definitely recommend the cuan I'll be going back :)

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding in nearby Old Court Chapel. The Cuan was perfectly located in the centre of lovely Strangford. The room was spotless with shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, tea coffee etc. It also had bucketfulls of charm from the surroundings and staff. Very good value rates and great food and breakfast. Highly recommend and thanks to Caroline, Peter and all the team who were friendly and helpful during our stay.

What an exceptional establishment, that provided the best start to our vacation that you could imagine! I would name all the staff that made it an impression, but it includes every single person there! If you're visiting, this is a must!

Stayed at The Cuan this week whilst on a work trip and can't compliment it enough! The staff, the food, the breakfast and the room were all fantastic! Will definetly recommend to family and friends and encourage our work to use it in any future occasions we need to be in strangford! Everyone went above and beyond to give us amazing service even getting up early to make us a breakfast before our very early starts! Thank you for a brilliant stay

What a wonderful place to stay. A must see for Game of Thrones fans. The staff were friendly, accommodating and full of knowledge about the show. You can choose to stay in a room that one of the cast stayed in (we stayed in Jon Snow's room!) Food was great and of course, the first 'door of thrones' is here too so don't forget to pick up your complimentary passport

The Cuan is a gem hiding in plain sight at Strangford's center. I had a late dinner opting for the seafood chowder as starter. It was a great choice with tasty chunks of fish, scallops, shrimp and mussels, a complete meal by itself. The main course, three slices of roast beef in a bed of carrots, broccoli, baked potato and yam, was superb but almost superfluous after the chowder. I had to box most of it to enjoy later at home. The Game of Thrones theme was an awesome bonus while enjoying my pint of Guinness.

We had two meals here. If you are visiting Belfast and can get here for a meal ....book and go. Do book or you might not get in. It's that good! The cooking is absolutely exceptional, the prices exceptional value, the staff amazing, and the location a jewel. Tie it in with the beautiful turn up and go car ferry trip across the mouth of the loch and enjoy a stunning circular trip from Belfast. They are kind too. I left my hat behind and they posted it back across the sea for me! You are a marvellous marvellous business. Thank you for the superb food and hospitality.

Just first class from start to finish. Friendly service from Sean and Cathy, both great fun and hilarious… the character of the service was so heartfelt that we were sad to leave them! Try the chowder, creamy rich delicious. Generous chunks of locally caught seafood and a sensational Guinness and treacle wheaten bread. This bread has to be tasted to be believed I’ve never tasted better… I had a sirloin steak, flavoursome, succulent and as amazing as the chowder. Generous size, comes with side and onion rings… I had 3 Guinnesses because…. well… why not. Creamy and beautifully poured. All in all we loved this as first time visitors, we definitely can’t wait to return and soon. Thoroughly recommended to all Cathy told me to come and stay in the guest room some day (recommended room 5) … and we will …

Marvelous food and staff. We hadn't booked but were promptly seated in the dining room at the back. Everything from the starter to main and dessert was exceptional. Fantastic staff who couldn't do enough for you and chatted away - felt very welcome indeed. The cost was very reasonable, also. Very easy to find location and seemed a lot less fancy than the other place up the street (Artisan Cookhouse). Can't comment on the accommodation as I wasn't staying. Highly recommended and I'll be back!

I went for breakfast Saturday. I didn't have a booking but there was plenty of space. I was allowed to take my dog inside and the staff were incredibly friendly. Mollie (my dog) was even given her own sausage which she was delighted with. Lovely atmosphere. Good variety on the menu. Definately recommend.

Stayed (2nts) recently to celebrate my 60th birthday. Lady on reception could not have been more helpful. We had pre booked dinner for our first nights stay. Skipped starters opting for main course and dessert. My wife had the lemon sole fillets special £17. Tender, flavoursome in light breadcrumb, with hollandaise tartare and baby boiled. Really lovely. I tried a rare sirloin with triple cooked chips portobello mushroom and onion ring. Garlic butter to side. The steak was beautiful, couldn't have been better - £29. We just missed out on the last portion of the special dessert, lemon tarte, and so opted for treble ice cream. All accompanied with a nice pinot grigio £22, couple pints of very decent Guinness £5.35 ea and a measure of Red Breast £7.50. Room was quiet and faced the town square. Bar was not too busy and tended to close early if not busy 10.30pm closing was a bit disappointing. Breakfast choices were plentiful, with self serve cold options cereal yoghurt juice, coffee and the hot service order provided quickly and hot. For lunch do give the chowder a go and the little Guinness wheaten loaf. Venue is pet friendly.

Late lunch -great Guinness, food & craic! Seafood chowder with Guinness bread, & salt & pepper squid, with chilli jam & garlic aioli, & still serving at @15.30 (apparently serve all day from @ 12.00 , 20.00/21.00, unlike most places over here that stick to the good oldfashionwd 12-2, then open again in the evening for a couple of hours.

The Cuan is a fantastic restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you know you're in for a treat. The restaurant is cozy and has a welcoming atmosphere. One of the standout features of The Cuan is its food. The menu is packed with delicious dishes that are expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and made from high-quality ingredients. I can't recommend the seafood platter enough - it was absolutely divine. In addition to the amazing food, The Cuan also has an impressive selection of mocktails that are perfect for anyone looking for a non-alcoholic drink option. They're creative, refreshing, and just as tasty as any cocktail. And, of course, it's impossible to talk about The Cuan without mentioning the door from Game of Thrones. It's such a cool feature that really sets the restaurant apart. As a fan of the show, it was a real treat to see it up close. Overall, I would give The Cuan five stars. It's a truly excellent restaurant that has everything you could want - delicious food, great drinks, and a unique atmosphere. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by for a meal. You won't be disappointed!

My daughter and I stayed for an overnight. We were greeted by very welcoming staff, Alison who brought us to our room. The rooms have all been refurbished, all are decorated differently. Our room was beautiful and had a very comfortable bed. Nespresso coffee machine was a welcome treat. The hotel is small and finished to a very high standard, a cute little library room to sit and relax with a book or a magazine, all provided We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant downstairs. There was a cosy bar with an open fire blazing. Busy atmosphere with very friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast had a plentiful choice of fruit, yogurt, cereal, cooked breakfast, tea, coffee, all delicious and served by lovely staff again, especially Sean, my daughter's favourite member of staff. It was great to meet Dolores was so helpful on the phone prior to our visit and so lovely in person. The hotel is in a beautiful setting, with Strangford Lough to the front, a village square, lovely forest walks. A perfect base to stay and lots of areas of interest to visit. The hotel also has one of The Game of Thrones doors in its restaurant. I would highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel. My daughter works in hospitality and the one thing that stands out for us when we visit a hotel or restaurant will be the staff, customer service and The Cuan definitely have that in abundance. Thank you, we will return. Kate and Samantha

Popped in a couple of days ago for an early evening meal. Starter of Seafood Chowder was superb. Main course, Salmon, was cooked to perfection and served with Baby Boiled Potatoes and some green stuff that I didn't recognise. All washed down with a lovely Chardonnay. I am not easily pleased but I couldn't fault the meal at all. Staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere, including a real log fire, was both pleasant and peaceful. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.
