Having lived in Dunoon for 20 years I have never visited this gem of a restaurant before. Huge mistake. Attended today for the first time for a family lunch and was greeted by friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and tastefully modern dining experience. I can't fault a single thing. The menu was diversely different with the specials reflecting the fresh availability of the produce. The food was served beautifully and was mouth wateringly deliciously full of flavour. Inventive ways of serving beautifully fresh fish and I was informed that the lamb simply fell and melted in the mouth. The desserts were interesting and unique not to mention delicious. Could not recommend this restaurant more and believe everyone should enjoy amazing food from an amazing menu in beautifully amazing setting.
I have eaten in many, many fine restaurants around the world, my wife and I took a short break to the wonderful Knockdow Estate and the owners took us for dinner at a local restaurant they recommended, it was called Inver...
I truly had one of the very best meals I have ever eaten, so much so that if I was invited tomorrow I would drive the 495 miles from my home in a heartbeat, if you ever have the privilege to eat here, just hope they have the crab claws on the menu, as for the sourdough it can't be beaten anywhere, I still have two loaves in the freezer.
A real hidden GEM
Please try this superb gastronomic experience and live a little bit of utopia as we did that day.
Can you guess we liked it!!!

One of the most amazing dining experiences ever. The location and scenery is breathtaking, the warmth and friendliness of the staff is exceptional, and then the incredibly delicious, beautiful and creative food takes you on an unforgettable journey of pure happiness. It’s worth a drive wherever you are, but it seriously is a must if you are in the area. Thank you.
We found this place quite by accident. We were cycling, the weather was grim.Wet and bedraggled,we were given a warm welcome ,great coffee and even better food. Can't recommend highly enough.
What a delicious evening of treats we had with you.
Jamie's birthday supper started v promisingly with delicious, unusual cocktails, the beetroot shrub was a fab soft option.
Beer cheese nibbles, yum! We all poured over your fabulous menu and all of us were in raptures! Everything was stunning, halibut, rolled pigs head served in the most beautiful yummy way, razor clams, exquisitely moreish broad beans and peas, Heavenly rice pudding, super wines, excellent, friendly attentive service, relaxed, tasteful atmosphere with terrific views. Thank you Rob, Pam and the team, just bliss! X
What a fantastic restaurant !! Well worth a visit !! Amazing food and wine!
It's a hidden gem on the shores of loch Fyne !!
We had an amazing time at Inver. The scenery is breathtaking and the people lovely but the best thing is the food! Such an exciting menu, we felt privileged to be having such fine dishes. I would recommend this place to anybody who enjoys something special and I am sure they are not charging enough!!!
We had a fantastic meal, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the food was interesting and delicious! They were very accommodating to me being pregnant. We would definitely recommend the tasting menu - we hope to be back soon!
I'm nervous just writing this review, as any words I put down won't do justice. Simply put - this was the best dining experience I've ever had. From the beginning of our stay, the staff at Inver was incredibly warm, knowledgeable and inviting. At the beginning of our dinner, we were encouraged to start in the bar area, where we had a two sip martini which was a delightful (small) variation on a classic martini, infused with local herbs. Followed by a phenomenal Old Fashioned, with subtle additions of sherry and scotch, that really made the cocktail feel special and "of the locale". And then... the food. The food! From beginning to end: thoughtful, unique, and delicious. Rather than describe each course, I've attached a menu. It was exquisite. And beyond that... highly, highly recommend doing the wine pairing. The wine choices were amazing and really brought out the best in each dish, and vice versa. After our meal, we were invited back to the bar area for tea and a lovely conversation with the staff. We then departed to our rooms down the path, with a view of the lake and a delicious breakfast in bed the following morning. Inver - thank you for an incredible experience and stay. We hope to come back soon!!!
Best meal of our entire holiday!
Fantastic meal with interesting wine pairings, particular highlights were trout with pickled cucumber, the lamb and the sorrel palate cleanser.
Excellent friendly service, and special thanks for the chef for accommodating my food allergies. We stayed in the car park in our motorhome which was also appreciated.
We had an amazing dinner and overnight stay at Inver: super tasty food, incredible views over the loch and very warm and friendly staff that made for a wonderful experience. Dog friendly too (two tables in the bar area and one of the bothy rooms).
The location is stunning. It’s nestled in the countryside, off the beaten track with breathing views over the loch and old castle ruins. We did a lovely pre-dinner walk over to the castle which was easy to get to.
The tasting menu was fresh, delicious and high quality, with the pork three ways stealing the show for me, it was perfect!👌Having another meat dish would’ve made it even better.
The bothy was cosy and comfortable, with a huge bed and equally massive bathroom and walk-in shower. A huge window made for incredible views over the Loch. In the morning, we had a nice breakfast hamper delivered to our room complete with coffee, fresh juice and a selection of cold breakfast which was all really nice. A cooked breakfast would’ve absolutely hit the spot but this was nice too.
Idyllic location close to the Loch. First class service with extremely knowledgeable staff. Nothing was too much effort. The staff go the extra mile to ensure that comfort and satisfaction is experienced by patrons.
The bothy was very comfortable
It is the third time I am coming back to Inver and i guess that says it all. The is off the beaten track and you really want to come here but it is such a special place, i guess if you have been once, you just want to come back. Such calm and soothing place with excellent food and wine and the staff is super friendly as well. This time we stayed at the newer huts which are smaller but they are as perfect as the bothies. Already looking forward to coming back again. Well done Rob and Pam. Hope you will do this for many more years to come. We will be back.
Incredible food with the freshest ingredients in a beautiful, scenic location. Perfect service. Picking a stand-out dish is hard: from super fresh langoustines to the vegetarian parpadelle, everything here is a highlight. The place is still underrated; go now and enjoy this absolute gem while you can still get a table.
I can't fault anything about our experience. The vegetarian menu was undoubtedly the best vegetarian meal I've eaten, and I'm struggling to think of any meal I've eaten anywhere which was better. The matched wines were stupendous. The service was perfection, the surroundings immaculate. It's expensive, but you are 100% getting what you pay for, which is food and drink of the absolute highest quality. If you can afford it, I can't recommend highly enough.
Wow! Unbelievably good food - definitely the best we’ve ever had and that includes several one and two Michelin star restaurants. The tasting menu was sublime - each course was just amazing. And the breakfast was every bit as good. Such incredibly talented chefs. And the accommodation was lovely too. Thanks so much for a fabulous stay.
Fourth visit here now & it gets even better every time we go. A real treat. Outstanding service, outstanding & innovative food, beautiful surroundings and just the right amount of everything. Tried the new shepherd's huts this time, a great addition, very comfortable with an even better view from bed than the bothy we usually have. A greater experience every time, 100% recommended!
Probably one of the best meal I had in a while! It is a beautiful part of Scotland to begin with, the surrounding is just spectacular. A dog friendly and child friendly restaurant, with such experienced staff. The waiters were ultra polite, gently spoken and helped us throughout our dining experience. I was very surprised to see the kids menu as I was not expecting one, so that next time i will be able to take my kids too! I would highly recommend booking quite ahead as it gets really busy. They ask for your dietary requirements ahead and they prepare for everything. I had a surprisingly delicious dessert, a sorrow sorbet. I ordered it out of curiosity and I couldn't get enough of it, all that I had was delicate but full of flavour, exquisitely paired for a blast of taste. I had vino verde with the meal and it was such a nice wine, I had a very relaxing time and although I was fine dining, I felt right at home!
