Called in spontaneously for supper. Staff were gracious and helpful, very friendly and made us feel so welcome. The food was cooked to perfection and was delicious. I noticed that they were very busy with home deliveries, when I enquired they very generous said they would do a delivery for us in the future even though we are outside of their normal delivery zone. We will definitely be back, what a wonderful find! Highly recommended to all.

Update 11/04/2023: Returned on learning that Zaika had regained its 5/5 hygiene rating and my husband and I enjoyed a nice meal...except for a selection of pickles which we ordered to have with poppadoms. It consisted of one small bowl of raw chopped onion and 2 yogurt-based sauces - one yellow and very mild and the other red and alittle spicy. Definitely not "pickles" and not worth the money...be warned! Update 13/01/2023: According to SNJ newspaper online today, "Zaika was handed a zero-out-of-five food hygiene rating after an assessment on December 7. "Food hygiene ratings reflect the hygiene standards which are found on the day of inspection by the local authority - they are not a guide to food quality." As a consequence it has dropped from an overall 5-star rating to 3 stars in my review. Let's hope it fares much, much better when it is assessed again! But poor show Zaika! Excellent Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine. Generous portions and I thought the meat was properly cooked as it should be in the individual sauces. Such a rarity these days where most Asian restaurants precook the meat which is then simply added to a particular sauce. The staff were lovely - welcoming and very helpful. The restaurant and loos were clean. It was recommended to my husband and me by friends and I, in turn, highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good curry! If only we had one like it in Stroud but Stonehouse isn't too far to go. It isn't licenced so if you enjoy a beer/glass of wine with your meal you need to take your own.

Amazing curry every time! Such lovely friendly staff and you get to take your own beer! What could be better. We went for the all you can eat which was £15.95 a head absolute bargain

Much more interesting Indian restaurant than is typical. Food fresh and varied with several fish menus and specifically vegan options. Staff very attentive and thoughtful. Changed my wife’s main meal as it was too hot for her though obviously not their fault. Will definitely be going back.

Great place. My mates and I decided to do a tour of all the Indian restaurants in Stroud and surrounding area and we stopped the tour as soon as we found this place. Outstanding quality, flavour and very attentive staff. I even needed to change a couple of things and also asked if they cod prepare me a dish that a) wasn't on the menu and b) made vegetarian. They did and it was heavily. We now regularly go and order our takeaway from here too.

Ordered food for delivery this evening. We chose Garlic chilli chicken and Lamb relish ghosth, rice, garlic naan and onion bhaji. The food was hot, fresh and full of flavour. It was clear that time was taken over the food. Would definitely be ordering from Zaika again.

Superb food, the vegan options are the best I've had in an Indian restaurant. Great to bring your own beer too.

We were staying one night at the local Travelodge, and decided to get something delivered via Just Eat. Confusingly, Zaika comes under Vegan Baburchi, but the food was excellent. I can definitely recommend the Bangladeshi Tofu Begun Bhoona, which was delicious.

Wow. A friend and I have been walking the Thames and Severn Way and we stayed in Stonehouse. Play a word association game: Stonehouse - hot curry now does it for both of us. We both ordered different Madras curries and were blown away - far from the usual insipid curry this was a burning cauldron of hot excitement. Fab-u-lous. This is the best and most fiery curry I gave had in many years. I'd you like spice (and flavour) give it a go. My friend Richard (in photo) has just melted and I will take him back to our accommodation in liquid form.
