Great food, would highly recommend if you're looking for food that tastes amazing... never over complicated, just great flavours - never disappoints
Wonderful family run pub, my favourite food to eat other than my mums ☺️ Will frequently come from Bristol just for the lovely warm welcome and such delicious food cooked from the heart. Couldn't recommend coming here enough.
Our lovely local village pub, have eaten here a few times, one being last night when we sledged to and from the pub with a 4 year in tow. Fantastic pub and staff.
Excellent food, the smoked salmon and smoked chicken the tarragon sauce were all superb, make sure to try the smoked oil with various breads! You can buy some products too! Awesome place and friendly staff
First time visit to the Wheatsheaf, but far from my last. A great modernised country pub with a great atmosphere and friendly people. The staff were attentive and served us quickly every time we went to the bar. Food service was speedy, and the dishes we had (including liver and bacon, beef brisket and the smoked crumbed haddock) were first class. Delicious! We look forward to returning soon.
After a long journey, despite the late hour and the closed kitchen, the host offered to prepare a warm meal for us and treated us to an incredible, delicious and tasty fish burger. We were invited inside as it was getting cold, even though they were technically closed.
Most of the ingredients are made on-site by the chef, which is a huge plus of this place! We will definitely return there! I highly recommend it.
A charming garden and a hidden gem!
We ate in the garden and it was gorgeous! (The pub is currently being refurbed).
The staff, and service were fab and really friendly!
Lovely setting amongst wildflowers.
We shared the beef brisket burger and the smoked salmon burger, both absolutely delicious! And topped off with a yum banoffee pie!
We’ll be back again, and to visit the smokehouse shop!
Incredible food. We got the mixed plate of smoked fish which was one of the best I’ve ever had. Then mains. Delicious. Also the place and staff are wonderful! What more can you ask for?
A very welcome return to the tradition of fine food at this most rustic of country pubs. The 'new' owners and staff do a great job of preparing a small selection of wonderful food (much of it smoked next door). If you love smoked food and/or fish, you are sure to find something you like; just be aware that many dishes would benefit by choosing to add veggies. To round-off the meal, we usually retire to the adjacent cafe (and shop) for a lovely coffee.
Cyclists are particularly well looked after with the provision of locking points, air pump and availability of some spares.
In conclusion, a great place to meet and eat.
Just WOW. Small menu, always a good sign, local drinks, all the smoked food done next door. Now our restaurant of choice in the area.
Gorgeous meal today, Haddock and potatoes, Chicken with Smoked Mash, friendly staff and dog friendly
As soon as possible you must try this place!! When it reopens in whatever format , high end or very high end, this is a gem you don't want anyone to know about!! If you can get on a guest list for any event here , you must attend!! You will not be disappointed!!! 10/10 ,👍👍👍👍👍👨🍳
A restaurant pub with small bar and nice beer garden. Small menu of quality smoked food and guest ales.
Very reluctant to share a review on this place because I want to keep it secret...... but thats only because its the best place we've ever eaten!! We got back as often as we can, the food is professionally prepared and presented to an excellent standard. The staff will do anything to make you feel welcome and the location.....well, just idyllic! Please don't go.....we found it first! 🤭
One must never do ☆☆☆☆☆ until absolutely certain, and my present withholding of a fifth is due to noise. For those seeking a place where conversation may revolve around Badminton dressage judging, this is your comfort zone. The place is clean and tidy, the staff polite, but not necessarily conversational. An interesting bowl of soup with quality bread - homemade, I expect - was very good, and equally pleasingly priced. The menu was modest, but varied, and includes some price options. Ah, the noise. The sound system wasn't very loud, and most likely unnecessary, but the 100% hard environment allowed an atmosphere devoid of sound absorption. In conclusion: I'll be back! ADDITIONAL: I have returned several times, sampling varied dishes and wines. Southwest of Bath it would be difficult to find a place as good as this for cuisine, and with a rustic atmosphere and pleasingly unpretentious family-run feel, it is almost deserving 5 ☆. The sound system is better, too.
