Just off A34, with a car park, this is a busy restaurant. Most people head straight for the carvery, with selection of roasted meat and vegetables. Food was good, although it’s more
expensive at the weekend.
Some slight downsides, the car park was partially flooded (we have had a lot of rain), with what looked like an abandoned car with smashed up windows. Also some of the decor looks like it could do with a spruce up, the seat we were on was held together with tape. Also they seemed short staffed, once we sat down no-one came over to see if we needed anything, or if our food was ok.
We used to use this place quite a lot a few years ago. But we had had a few not so great meals. So we hadn't been here for a number of years. So we thought it was time we gave it another try. Happy we did. Our small group enjoyed our food. Few bits weren't perfect but on the whole it was good and we will be back again for more.
The food was excellent - lots of choice of veg and all beautifully cooked.
The surroundings were clean, comfortable, well presented and welcoming.
The waitress was very good and brought our water in very nice large glasses with ice.
All very good value for money to boot!
The carvery was really good and probably the best one I've had. All the meat was nice and the vegetables were good too. The service was good. Only lost a star as had no ice cream or cream for dessert, only custard.
We have had a family breakfast here today for 7 people and have really enjoyed it. They said we could push any of the tables together so we would sit together and couldn't have been anymore helpful. Their customer service was spot on and the food was amazing too. All really fresh and tasted beautiful. One of the guests was vegetarian aswell and they made her vegetarian sausages and scrambled eggs when we asked them to. They really were fantastic.
Food hot and tasty. Plenty of choice. Welcoming atmosphere. The only thing that could possibly be improved upon, is price of vegetarian carvery on Sunday is much higher than during the week, with no further choice than in the week. Therefore, I think that this could be a little cheaper.
I think the food was amazing and hot, the staff were really kind and attentive, the service was fast and efficient.
Listen to drinks orders more closely as the waitress got a drink wrong
Wasn't told I had to ask for children's plates for them to eat for £1, so when I went to pay I was told I had to pay for 4 full price carvery! We weren't even told about a child option plate, we had drinks and puddings too £68 bill and I was shocked, all I got was a sorry they should of had kids plates and too pay my bill! X
Brilliant atmosphere and excellent friendly service, with decent food for very reasonable price. Very relaxing environment and staff go above and beyond.
The carvery was beautiful, everything was perfectly cooked, a nice selection of vegetables, lovely large Yorkshire puddings, 4 meats to choose from. Quite a nice atmosphere, had to wait 20 mins though, but was told this before ordering our food, as maintenance was being done. Probably a good thing as it meant everything was freshly served and we were the first to be told we can go for carvery now.
As always, amazing food!! 👏 never ever had a bad carvery here, the meat is cooked to perfection, as are the veg. Service is impeccable too!!
Lovely food we did have a not so friendly, staff member?, she had no customer service skills and did not seem very interested in customer needs she did not give us full answers to our questions , spoiled a long journey so if you need questions answered I would recommend you go to Beth a more mature staff member thankyou for listening to our issues and having a word with this server who was listening in anyway.
Only one member of staff made my visit very stressful when going for a lunch mon 4th sept she was rude when i asked about the drinks only a slight delay she replied they were making them with attitude, i then asked if there is a smaller size carvery plate for my grandaughter and she said no so i said is there any thing else for her she said on the menu so we ordered from it and had 2 x only one size plates from the carvery, i then saw children with smaller plates and wondered why she lied so i asked why my grandaughter couldn't have the smaller plate and she said because they are for 12 and under i then said she is 12 and my answer back was she looks older so this staff member made her judgement and at no time asked her age, when i went to the bar to pay i reported this to the lovely Beth but unfortunately for me this very rude waitress stood there behind Beth starring at me and would not stop until i walked away my sister also felt uncomfortable, the waitress in this situation was named Caitlin , so after 2 hours on a motorway i did not expect that all the other staff we're polite and friendly and the food was lovely
I use this place regularly, if you like value for money then try this place, I go for breakfast which is always plentiful, hot and fresh, dinner is excellent to, the carvery is exceptional and the price is right, the staff are always friendly and efficient, it's wise to book specialy on a Sunday asit gets busy, tho they will try and accommodate you without booking, I've been in a few toby carvery s and I have to say this one comes out on top for value
Very tasty food, great staff and service.
Excellent value for money too.

Really good breakfast, large selection of products, only problem is the food goes cold quickly, so a good tip is get your toast and drink first , then get your food . Also they don't do poached eggs . The fried option never have runny yoaks. Also the price varys from visit to visit , only by a pound but it should be the same . That said its well worth trying.
