Under new management...and the bar meals are fab, large portions of well cooked and nicely presented food at a decent price. Lovely to sit in the well tended beer garden with beautiful views watching the sunset on a sunny day.

Lovely pub ... sat rite next to the coal fire on a snowy day .. Sunday lunch was the nicest lunch iv ever had out and the staff are so very attentive .. I suggest the day you go avoid a large breakfast they are proper mansize portions .. Hence why iv given Charlie Bassetts 5 *...

Absolutely lovely food, great staff and brilliant atmosphere. Staff were very helpful and you get that country pub feeling throughout. Be aware the Mix Grills are massive, all the other food I saw being brought out was big and plentiful. We will be visiting again. . Thanks to all the staff and customers for a great evening.

I was coming up for the football and was struggling to find a campsite for the weekend, which had vacancies, (probably due to school summer holidays and locality being close to Alton Towers), a local friend suggested Charlie Bassets. I have to say a real pleasurable stay. The check in procedure was straightforward. I ate in the pub first evening and the liver n onions were great, the pub has a real friendly atmosphere. The pitch I was on had its own water point. There is a facilities block consisting of 2 toilets and 1 shower, but 1 of the toilets is within the shower room, so if someone having a shower means only 1 toilet available, if the site was really busy, I not sure how that would be? A great stay, I would book again, if visiting the area again.

Had a Sunday lunch here, portion sizes are generous, the main course was tasty but not exceptional, highlights were the goats cheese and beetroot starter which was lovely, and the others in the group loved the pâté. Bass beer on draft is also served here which is a bit of a rarity these days. We experienced great service on our visit and all the staff were very friendly, recommended. We also stayed at the Campsite attached and had an excellent stay enjoying the peace and quiet. Again all the staff were fantastic, friendly and very helpful.

Around 15£ per main. Standard menu but lovely views and family environment... Except the tattooed middle aged foul mouth loud chav by the door. It put off people going in. Other than that, it was really Nice 👍

We stayed overnight in the campsite behind and had food in the pub. Food was delicious. Very tasty. I had the lasagna and my partner had liver and mash and he said it was cooked to perfection 👌 we were advised to book a table for the evening meal as it gets busy which was easy to do via Facebook messenger. We did book for breakfast which was a bit of a let down after the evening meal, bacon was dry and overcooked. However that didn't spoil our stay. Portions were more than enough and we found the place very clean.

Can’t speak highly enough of this place. We stayed with our two dogs on their campsite for two days. Facilities great. Food was amazing, Friday entertainment was great. Staff friendly and accommodating as well as a great outdoor space with BBQ and Pizza oven.

Delicious food at reasonable prices served efficiently. We went during Friday evening and a big highlight was the acoustic live music - absolutely great atmosphere! We very much appreciated the impromptu frozen 'let it go' song (meant for the children present, but we thoroughly enjoyed it as well!) For food I can definitely recommend the liver!

Went a bit late after being a couple of other places first. There was a two person band on that we're really good, really interactive and sung really well. The bar staff were down to earth and professional. The drink were great quality and the atmosphere was first rate. First time I've been but would definitely go again. We didn't have food. Well done Charlie Bassett's 👌🏻......

Had the BEST weekend camping here, the owner and all the staff very hands on and constantly checking everything was ok. The atmosphere was amazing, shower/toilets were perfectly clean despite the amount of people. The food was outstanding. Thank you guys. 10/10 all round. Helen & Paul Barker

Spacious pitches, laid back, friendly staff (and locals who pitched in) lovely views walks short drive to array of shops, another park short walk away past the church. Plenty of toilet paper I think there was just once that that there wasn't Horses, donkeys, goats morning visit to our tent 😂 Down side but definitely not off putting to visit again if showers were added The 2 dogs kept stealing the children's toys and going into tents (they were friendly dogs who just wanted to play but worth noting if you have allergys to dogs) staff and locals came out to get the dogs in when told with no issue. No showers (which we knew before booking but was definitely missed) Friendly, spacious has plenty of potential ie showers. Overall lovely stay. Thank you.

What a gem, love this site and the concept, situated behind a village pub, this is definitely the way forwards. Great sized gravel pitch with its hook up and own tap, depending size & which way you put your van in, longer water and electrical cable may be needed. (Pitch 5). The pub was fantastic, cosy, warm & welcoming. Paul hospitality is 2nd to none, not only was he attentive really open to feedback and clearly proud of the pub and his staff. The food was amazing, great portion sizes and price. Draught beer a clear winner too! Daughter loved the small play area, the Halloween outside party and the small animal holding on-site. Well done too all the team, we will be back soon for another weekend of live music good food and drink. Graham, Cath & Sophie.

I think I've been hiding under a rock for years because I'd never heard of this place. Wow what a pub, the food was really good, beer garden was fantastic with great views over the countryside. Great for kids it has a play area, football pitch and animals. They have an outside kitchen serving pizzas and burgers on Fri to Sunday 3 till 9pm. Service was excellent aswell. I definitely recommend and will be going back

1st time at this pub, the pub and atmosphere were very nice and relaxing, staff were so lovely. Food was great, I couldn't eat al of mine neither could my husband. Well worth the money. Real homemade chips too which were worth the trip on its own. Will definitely be returning maybe have a small plate next time though lol.

We came here on recommendation, I ordered pie of the day which was steak and ale, we sat in the garden, when mine arrived the mash was cold, I tried putting gravy on it and it helped a little, the pie didn't have much meat in it either, pastry was nice, the veg was cabbage, 1 piece of carrot, chopped mini corn and mangetout, very different and not the normal type of veg associated with this type of meal and I was disappointed and didn't enjoy my meal at all, but we had no one come to check if everything was ok with our food. When I went into the pub, I asked the lady who was taking bookings whether it was the pub policy to check if guests are happy with their meals, but was told only inside, it wasn't busy and the server was just standing chatting, I really think this should be changed, I finished most of my meal and have now left this review, how different it could have been had they checked! Just to be fair I will add that the other 3 meals were enjoyed.

We stayed on site for one night and ate in the pub. Paul, the new owner, has done a cracking job of sprucing the place up and adding extra facilities. The site was gently sloping and we mentioned to Paul that we hadn't bought levelling ramps for our VW. He lent us some that a previous camper had left behind. The food was fantastic and the staff very friendly. Very chatty locals and a log burning fire made for a lovely evening after we finished our meal. Several different beers on tap which pleased my hubbie as he isn't a lager drinker. The site is in a lovely village and the following morning we went for a walk. It was a shame we couldn't stay longer as I would have liked to explored the countryside but that now gives us an excuse to return.
