We were coming to Stoke for a football match and found this pub online. We are so happy we gave it a go! The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great and the staff were top notch. It was lunch so we had sandwiches, but we also had the steak and ale pie! My English husband was thrilled! If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely come back!
We just had a steak dinner here after a recommendation from a friend. Have to say, the meal was excellent. Great portion and the fillet steak had superb texture and flavour. Well done guys. Will definitely be visiting you guys again... a little gem and so close to our home in Stone �
Although could I recommend putting your steak sauces in a sauce boat on the side perhaps. I only say this as the sauces I tasted on Thursday, incredible as they were, they were a bit rich in flavour and it did detract from the flavour of the steak. Oh yeah. Can the chips be a bit crisper please. That was my second visit, the first was for Sunday lunch. All I can say is. Amazing. 10 out of 10. See you in the new year.
Absolutely gorgeous food, never ate steak before, too lazy to chew, all i eat there now is steak, would and have recommended this pub to others, brill staff as well, well done everyone

Absolutely fantastic steak cooked to perfection home cooked chips were amazing if you like steak this is a must to go to place you won't be disappointed staff were superb as well.Cant wait to go back �����
Just had the burger special with a pint of lager/ale!! I can honestly say it was one of the nicest burgers I’ve eaten in a long time!!!!

Went for my very first mothers day with my little one and was not disappointed. Had bacon and mushrooms to start and steak with bullock sauce, both were delicious and cooked perfectly and staff were very helpful �
First time Iv visited the duke of York and definitely not the last.I highly recommend the atmosphere is great lovely service and food is spot on �
Just been for the first time. Could not fault it. The steak was lovely. Will definitely be back soon to sample something else from the menu. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Had a fab meal fathers day, great service. Steaks cooked to perfection cooked blue melted in ur mouth. Chicken Roast was delicious and the beef roast also looked fab. Children's meals are bigger than average and my grandson ordered a small steak off children's menu but other than the steak being 4 oz it wasn't much different in size than the adult meals. which by the way he devoured. Very enjoyable.

The food is outstanding coupled with a warm friendly atmosphere and very attentive staff who are happy to help. I would recommend visiting but in advance as its busy �
family meal this evening, steak with a cheese topping and onions and proper chips excellent value and beautifully cooked,
chicken was also lovely,we left feeling very full after squeezing in a lovely pudding thanks

Amazing food! Great atmosphere in the bar! A real local find! It was a little tricky to book in but once we were there the welcome from the staff, the ambience of the pub and the fantastic food made it all worthwhile. My Dad had the steak and ale pie (which he has tried in many pubs over the years) and he gave this one a 10 out of 10 (high praise indeed), my Mom had the mushroom starter (as a main) which she thoroughly enjoyed and my Partner and I had the steaks, cooked with sauces (Steak Dianne & Drunken Bullock), the steaks came with chips (hand cut - delicious), fresh minted peas, mushrooms & onion rings. The steak meals were outstanding! We shall definitely come back again! Dog friendly in the bar area and they also have a (non-dog) restaurant area. There's good parking and are set in a great location (right next to the Wedgwood Estate).

Well I said I'd go back and thus I have for Sunday Dinner and what a delicious beef dinner it was . The staff are soo helpful and do not rush you .
All I can say is its even better & taster than before. If you do want a Sunday Dinner then please book to avoid disappointment .
Food is excellent and served in portions that leave very little plate visible. The staff are pleasant and attentive. The choice of beers is very good, e.g. Doombar, Sea Fury, Bass. The decor is a little worn and not what it once was when this was just a pub.
Good old fashioned local pub but with the now expected food option.
Steak is always amazing! Always great food and friendly service. Good selection of steaks with choices of toppings. Highly recommended. Great steak menu!
Sunday lunch at The Duke of York, Barlaston was an amazing experience. The pub itself had so much beautiful character. The staff were attentive and more than pleasant. We booked a table for 4 and were seated immediately on arrival. The food we ordered was of excellent quality, fresh and cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend The Duke of York to anyone. Can't wait for another visit. 5*****
We booked a table for 3 at 12.15 but really it was quite quiet and we probably will just call in next time.
It was very open and pleasant where we sat and the staff friendly and attentive.
With it being lunch time there were two menus available. My wife opted for the 4oz steak on the lunchtime menu, I chose the same off the main menu and our grandson the New Yorker sandwich.
All the meals were served up quite quickly and cooked perfectly.
I must admit there was ample food on my wife's lunchtime menu steak and I would opt for that next time and probably put the extra cost onto a starter or dessert.
Both the the starter and dessert menus had enough to tempt the taste buds as well.
We'll definitely be going back again. Properly cooked very tasty food, great service and when went at lunch time parking at the rear was fine and you stepped straight into the dining area. Definitely a must go to eat out place.

Superb food. It was a kind of retro experience which we all enjoyed. Feeling just a little faded inside though. But we enjoyed good service and a good night.
Absolutely fabulous food. We went New year's eve day.the Fillet steak was gorgeous. With Drunken Bullock Sauce. My Hubby had the Ribeye steak with Onions and Stillon. Also Delicious. The Pudding was Apple Crumble. Also very nice. We would Definitely Recommend this pub.
Amazing quality of food, we ordered 2 steaks and a Sunday dinner. No complaints at all. Meals were really good and well portioned. Staff were all super friendly as well. Lovely atmosphere they split the food and the drinks only areas so it wasn't too loud when having a meal. Overall will definitely come again in future
Absolutely fantastic food. Best fillet steak I've ever eaten. Excellent service. I wish this was our local as its a perfect traditional British pub with top quality food. We where looked after very well. Highly recommend.

Had the take away curry last night....lovely. Excellent quality and great portions with all meals. My kids ended up fighting over the chips, traditional and to die for. Will be visiting more often to support these guys and will be booking a table again as soon as they can reopen. Lovely traditional pub,sad to see it empty at this present time but im sure they will survive with the quality and service they are currently providing to the community with the takeaway service they are running. So glad they were highly recommend to us.
Lovely food and lovely friendly staff. Unfortunately a smaller menu than the last time i went but all the same the food was beautiful. Three of us had fillet steak all done differently and all a lovely steak. The Lucifer sauce is a must to accompany your steak. Also a good selection of real ales and largers.

We had the Sunday lunch last week...absolutely amazing. Plenty of variety of vegetables to accompany the perfectly cooked chicken and beef and sides. Very generous portions and packaged for takeaway perfectly. Will definitely have this again, thanks 😊
