Had Sunday lunch al fresco here yesterday. We both had the roast beef. It was piping hot with a good range of vegetables. Others had fish & chips and they looked good & tasted great apparently. Our donkey friends enjoyed their chip butties!
My partner and I went for Sunday lunch pre booked.
On entry into the pub we were immediately greeted and seated ,choice of drinks selected, excellent beer.
We both ordered Roast Beef with all the trimmings and it was delicious.I succumbed to a dessert ,again soo good.
Great value in a brilliant atmosphere, lovely building .

Had a great meal, 14 of us for a family occasion. Lovely sat in garden in the sun, felt like a pub should!!
The food is always excellent but there can be a bit of a wait. There are often only the two people running it, Kevin in the kitchen and Kirsty front of house. We book a table and get there early. Lovey pub with good beer, nice garden and friendly atmosphere.
We arrived too late so I did not eat or drink at this place. However the chef told me that he'd just cooked 40 Sunday lunches, so it seems to be a popular place in a lovely setting for lunch.
Always welcoming excellent food
Chicken and bacon salad was excellent as everything on the menu 10/10
Had a really nice meal with family. Nice atmosphere and very cosy feel to the place in general. Food was really good quality and the kids portions were pretty big as well. Would definitely come here again
fantastic in every way. delicious food, excellent service. Beautifully clean.
Lovely to be back after a long period away from Stoke Abbott. Thank you for the lovely buffet .
Had a lovely Sunday roast . Was great . Lovely food nice staff will be back for more.
Can't praise this pub highly enough. It's a proper village pub. It has the decor and the atmosphere of a traditional pub with a modern menu. The staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. They help with individual dietary requirements and were very accommodating when we needed to make a last minute booking. Often fully booked so plan ahead! It'll be worth it.
Lovely lunch visit... Very friendly welcome. Highly recommend the steak and ale pie... Home made by landlord apparently.... Really like the suet pastry, served with gravy, which is a nice touch that too many pubs miss... Oh and great proper chips all served with a nice pint of Palmer's gold.
Hello 👋 seasonal greetings, a large group of friends and I met for luncheon today. we ordered from the Christmas menu..the friendly and hospitable atmosphere and welcome from the hosts was lovely a,real fire beautifully decorated interior..and fabulous hot perfectly cooked meals ,made it a memorable occasion. Thank you both..v pleased to recommend your excellent establishment.
Felt really safe here( in the current Corona virus pandemic). Everything was spotlessly clean, and systems were robustly in place to keep it so, and people socially distanced. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, the service was excellent and the food delicious. The roast beef on Sunday was plentiful and very tender, and great Yorkies.Couldn't fault it. A lovely experience that we repeated again later in the week. We both had the lamb and it did not disappoint! Really tender and tasty. Beautiful well-kept village also.
Fabulous lunch, the best haddock and chips I've had in a while. The Dorset Orchards Gold cider is great as well. We'll be back.
A superb christmas dinner on saturday night the 17th december with a group of six, top notch grub, excellent service, what a nice way to catch up with friends who we've known since primary school. Well worth it!!!!!
Friendly staff, good selection of Ale and Wine.
Dropped in for lunch.... very warm and friendly welcome, very warm and tasty food. Couldn't have asked for more. Dog-friendly.
The food and service were excellent, curry was exceptional, and the fish and chips wow.
