Brilliant Sunday lunch with friendly staff make this our go to place
Every so often we try other recommendations but always come back to the Penny Black

Excellent value but also excellent care taken by the staff to give the best bits of meat; cutting off any fatty bits etc. Real care and attention. Also black pudding stuffing is a winner!
Great little pub, really nice food.
Food came out quickly and was nice and hot and good portions too.
They have a pool table (free on Saturday’s 12pm-4pm), darts and sports on the TV’s.
Will definitely go back for food and for a few drinks on an evening.
Had a great lunch from the Carvery. The prices are very reasonable and I was pleasantly surprised to get a proper ice cream dessert and not soft serve. Will definitely be back.
Had a lovely Sunday dinner here, the choice of veg was excellent compared to other places, the meat was spot on and they even have a load of pork crackling which you don’t usually get other places. The staff were spot on too, very helpful and the chef took the time to go round the tables and ask if everything was ok which again adds a personal touch. Overall the food is great, good value for money and great staff. Will certainly be returning.

People here are great, Phil the chef does an Amazing Cavery!
Gary and the staff are good people and love popping in a couple of times a week.
If your new? Phil does amazing food, highly recommended.
