A spur of the moment drop in to the Mayfly after shopping in Stockbridge. We had never been before but had driven past on several occasions. The weather was awful but inside was warm and welcoming. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender who was engaging and chatty. He convinced me me to try a glass of Frontier by firstly giving me a small taster. It was delicious so I had a pint šŸŗ. We sat in the window seat (table 1) and took in the beautiful scenery and wildlife whilst enjoying our drinks. We ordered a cheese board to share as a snack and we were not disappointed. Great variety and depth of flavour. Prices are really reasonable and the atmosphere was lovely. They were showing the 6 nations which was an added bonus šŸ˜. Definitely recommend this place for families or couples. I would imagine that itā€™s absolutely stunning in the summer but donā€™t wait until then to enjoy this little gem šŸ’Ž

The Mayfly is a beautiful pub in a tranquil environment. The menu needs to be increased as not a lot on there but other than that the staff are fabulous and it will do very well with more of a variety in the menu.

100% THE most PERFECT and lovely pub I've been to the river makes the pub and the best idea EVER building a pub there and one day I'll take my kids there. I'm from Southampton and its a lovely drive out there. I've been going here for 18 years and many more to come now

The food was excellent. All three courses. My glass of red was nice and soft as well. Will definitely go back. Spent a bit more for lunch than we usually do but it wonā€™t stop us going back. Wonderful lunch.

Myself and a few friends visited The Mayfly today as we wanted to get a nice riverside pub in before summer is over. It's a charming pub with a lovely, cosy, beer garden stealing the show. The food was nice and the normal price you'd pay for pub food these days. Decent menu as well and a lot to suit all tastes. I've knocked it down one star for service purely because no one checked on whether we wanted more drinks or anything extra throughout our 4hrs there. If they had asked us, I'm sure we would have ordered more and spent more, as it was table service.

Had a wonderful lunch. The Test running by the gardens was wonderful. Children were feeding the fish and ducks. The staff were very attentive. They do a good hot chocolate, something that many places fail on.

A really great Sunday roast - not cheap but tasty. Fantastic location on the river but very busy. Almost nowhere to park & had to eat inside, even though there were empty tables by the river & in the covered open area. Booking essential (try & reserve a riverside table), be prepared for problematic parking, but food was served quickly & the staff were excellent & very attentive. Recommended.

Amazing location by the river Test. Huge outside eating area. Friendly staff and good food. Only criticismā€¦. Barman on the day I visited was consistently serving short pintsā€¦ not just to our group, noticed other groups were getting short measures on pints (I was the only one to ask for a top up!)

Visited here last Saturday 5/8 at lunchtime. We were a table of 6. It was very busy. Service was brilliant and food was delicious, all empty plates. Would definitely recommend. I had the pie of the day followed by sticky toffee pudding šŸ˜‹šŸ˜‹

We sat outside and it was lovely being next to the river. It's a dog friendly place and the food is amazing. Attentive and friendly service too. No wonder it's a popular establishment. Parking can be tricky if it's busy, get there early!

Popped into The Mayfly on our trip home to Essex from Cornwall, it was a Saturday afternoon in mid July, it had been showery, so very busy inside. We had not book, but they found a table. Service was brilliant as was the food. The London Pride, was perfect. Highly recommended.

Great spot on the river. Nice food. Options for seating indoors, under a marquee or in the garden. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely pub by the River Test. The food quality went beyond my expectations! Particularly impressed by the beef burger as it was really tasty! Beef roast was also warm and hearty. Definitely recommended!

Absolutely beautiful modern pub right on the river. Perfect spot to sit outside in the sun and enjoy your surroundings. They had plenty of seats right along the river and inside a furnished marquee so thereā€™s a good chance youā€™ll get a seat with a view but would advise booking. We tried the pork croquettes and fried mussels to start and both were delicious and good portions. The real treat was the trout main course with locally sourced fish, samphire and baby potatoes. Definitely order an additional side to go with this, we opted for the tenderstem broccoli and Iā€™m glad we did. If there was an option I would have ordered some more of their potatoes too they were delicious. Great find in Stockbridge

Popped in after doing a stretch of the Test Way. Great location with the Swans on the river. Plenty of parking. The Menu top class and food we had was really top notch.

Beautiful location, we'll trained and attentive staff. The food was delivered in good time, good portion sizes and really tasty. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit and will definitely return. The only downside is summer is over now so there won't too many opportunities to sit by the river again until next year now.

Best Sunday Roast ever! This place is just magical. The location is stunning and the food is delicious. Last time I had Sunday roast at The Mayfly was right before Covid and I wasn't vegan at the time. Last Sunday I went for Sunday roast with my cousin, he came from Italy to stay with me for 3 week and I couldn't let him leave without a proper Sunday roast meal. I've booked the table online for 3pm in the marquee. The weather was lovely, sunny and not to cold. I had the vegan nut roast and he had the pork roast with crackling, we also got the focaccia as starter to eat whilst waited for the main and a side of pigs in the blanket for him. My vegan roast was superb. I didn't have to ask any switch because even the broccoli cheese and the Yorkshire pudding were made vegan!!! I definitely going back ASAP as my fiancƩ needs to have that delicious Sunday roast too! The service was also spotless, friendly and very helpful. Thank you Mayfly! Been there few more time after that review and every time is amazing, food is delicious and the service is spotless.

Nice visit, had pie of the day and mash. Seemed to have a lack of veg. Came out so very quickly but also tasted like it had been sat around for a while. Other meals on tables looked good though! Nice river setting and lovely atmosphere.

Good to be back again. The environment here is always wonderful and relaxing right beside the stream/river. Sunday roast was delicious but the veg were slightly burnt and the roast potatoes were a bit too hard on the outside. Desserts are slightly small. Overall it was still a great place to visit and enjoy the view.

Mixed review, I personally loved the food and thought was a lovely place to go with views to die for. The Moules are divine and the perfect amount and my husband enjoyed his steak. It is a little pricey at over Ā£29.00 in Andover but was okay as a treat! Please know like if like me you a mussels fan, they do not serve these on Sundays. Downside was that no cranberry juice is served here, which is a generally main drink especially with cocktails. Ā£8.50 service charge was added when we sat next to the kitchen and ordered only one main? ( Only two of us) This should be an option should you wish to add on, rather than the bill being made and then the poor girl asking if we want to take it off. Generally we tip in cash so this was frustrating. Respectfully this should be added to tables of 6 or more before being "Added" Food menu was ample enough for us, And catered perfectly to our taste in food. Pub was kind enough to swap the chips with the mussels to vegetables. A place like this, would be nice if a cocktail menu was available on the tables with the menus. Although we don't have dogs anymore, it was lovely to see a pub that was dog friendly! Lots of happy doggies everywhere and even an option to dispense food for them! Loved that. Overall a lovely pub, but not somewhere you would go every weekend. 8/10 experience and would recommend to my friends and family.

Lovely scenery, soothing river with lots of space outside and dog friendly too. It was a busy Sunday and I went for a roast with friends. The food was good but my friendsā€™ vegetables were fairly raw that we couldnā€™t get a knife through it, we were quickly compensated with new roasted potatoes and vegetables which were perfectly cooked and piping hot. Perfect spot for a pint with a view.

Stunning location and equally stunning food. Not sure about a previous review saying the menu was limited? Great mixture of different dishes, my partner and I had different choices on all three courses and everything was lovely Staff nothing but great. We tried the two other local pubs in the area and this was by far and away the best.
