Lovely people behind the bar, friendly atmosphere and very cosy pub with a roaring open fire! They have a pool table and their KARAOKE nights are good fun too!

All of the ales were off but I know this is what pubs struggle with these days. The waitress was happy to change my ale to another ale. It doesn't matter the ale because the problem isn't the brewery but for context, it was Wherry to Maldon Gold. I don't mark it down because I know that pubs don't sell enough now. All I'd recommend is to go to bottles. You would save yourself the hassle. Back to the experience. The outside is gorgeous. We wanted to sit there the entire night. The chips tasted of margarine or something. I think if you want to go down the route of a food pub then you should stick to Tallow. It tastes so much better and is healthier for you but I can't mark down because of it. I think the pub needs to stick to tradition and cook in tallow. I'd come here again.

Lovely pub, fantastic outdoor area, with very nice staff. Very fast service. Best steak and ale pie I've ever had and I've eaten alot of pies in my time !!! Just wish I lived closer.

I liked it a lot. The sausage n mash with onion gravy was spot on. My fish n chip batter was very over cooked...but every one else's was fine. There is plenty of free parking and easy to get to

Visited this recently refurbished pub for Sunday lunch. Never went before to know what it was like but its been refurbished to a high standard. Very smart and modern while keeping what look like original features. As many other reviewers have said, the food here is good. The Sunday roast was hot, a good size and tasty. Some aspects of the service are still being worked out we sensed. Staff were friendly but we had issues with the right food being brought, what food was available and the bill. Nothing significant but again I think this chimes with other reviews. This should be an easy thing to address. There is a reasonable amount of car parking available and a small outdoor space.

We visited The Old Kings Head today before driving home, after being recommended it by some people who live locally. We didn’t reserve a table (maybe we should have) but the staff were very welcoming and found somewhere for us to sit. We had a pork roast each and a portion of cauliflower cheese, which tasted great. The presentation was really nice too. Service was fast and very polite. The only downside was the car park, which was nearly full - but I guess it was very busy. Great place for a Sunday roast!

Had a lovely Steak and Ale and my daughter had a wonderful Classic Burger with crispy fries. We sat outside in the patio area and enjoyed the wonderful sunny day and tasty good food. The staff is always friendly and since we brought our two well behaved dogs, they got a bowl of water and dog treats - not on the menu! If you haven’t already done so, visit this place.

The staff are welcoming, attentive and good humoured. The beer is good and the food is fantastic. My only concern is that space is limited, so if you want a table, book!

What a lovely English country pub with extremely friendly staff. I joined some regulars for the second dog walk 🐕 this morning and was treated to some fine weather, great views and wonderful company 😀 . The full English breakfast was pretty spectacular too.😋

We booked a table to head for a late lunch after a long walk through the beautiful surrounding countryside. Staff were friendly and a quick service was provided from start to finish. Was impressed with the vegan option of roasted cauliflower and hassleback potatoes which was divine!

Don't usually write reviews but for Old King's Head on this occasion it's a must!! After another venue cancelled on us on the morning of our birthday celebrations, OKH stepped up to the mark and went above and beyond for us to make our day even more perfect than we had imagined. Two hours before our guests were due to arrive, OKH arranged for us to have their outside patio, sorted all the garden furniture and organised food and drinks for all our guests. The day was even better than we had planned and all our guests were astounded that OKH had arranged this for us in a few hours, how lovely their outside space is and how helpful and friendly all the staff were - really couldn't do enough for us all day long. Drinks were flowing all day and the food that they arranged for us was so delicious, days on and our guests are still talking about how good the food was (especially the burgers and croquettes!!) - and all at such a reasonable price. OKH we can't thank you enough for saving our day and for making it so special. With hindsight we wish we had booked with you in the first place. Anyone thinking of arranging a small group event - OKH couldn't be more perfect, We live local and come down a lot usually for food/drinks and OKH delivers every time, food is always amazing and staff so helpful (and dog friendly :-D) Thank you OKH!!
