Not for everyone but a delightful step back in time. A rare pub run by a lovely elderly lady who makes you welcome. Do not expect rapid service but starring into the open log fire gives time to reflect while she pours your pint from a barrel.
Lovely old wordly pub with a friendly landlady. Sure it won't be to everyone's taste but go for a pint and a chat with the old landlady for stories of the village and the history of the pub! Nice beer too!
Cosy little pub serving local beers. Friendly owner. Definitely worth a visit if going past
Went for a lunchtime pint while walking from Belstone, amazing pub time forgot. Great Ales, old world feel. Landlady very friendly. Lovely people, lovely pub 😁
I cannot gush enthusiastically enough about this beautiful, unspoiled pub. I had planned a day of pub exploration in North East Dartmoor (taking in Belstone, Sticklepath and South Zeal) and of the 5 pubs I visited on that day - all of which worthy of some merit in their own right - this was far and away the best.
Wonderfully preserved interior, with an open fire, full of nik-naks, and details of yesteryear there because they always have been (like soda siphon bottles on the bar). A main bar room, with quieter lounge bars either side, one of which has a bar billiards table. Deightful friendly locals and staff. Beer served directly from stillage behind the bar, and also a local cider on tap.
I can't really think of any way in which this pub could be better, and I hope it continues to stay exactly as it is now for many years to come.
Cosy, relaxed, authentic pub that time forgot. Big open fire. Great local real ales and cider. Hearty, simple, home-made food. Bar billiards for 50p!
Glorious proper pub with a friendly welcome, lovely massive fireplace, and fantastic local real ales. Make sure you order a pasty to soak them up.
very welcoming traditional devon pub.
with friendly landlady
