Always get a very friendly welcome, the food is extremely good value and I have tried several different dishes which are all delicious, including the yummy desserts. Even the wine is cheap. Will certainly be visiting again to try more dishes.

About 150 years old Pub in Symonds common. Nice open lawns for outdoor sitting. Children's play area. Good ambience and snacks.

The pub is lovely. I've been here a few times for a drink and light lunch. The service is often slow but the atmosphere is usually good. There is a pool table and darts to play. There is plenty of parking normally and you can go outside of the A1 for a nice country walk.

The popularity of this pub surely shows how well it is doing. As part of the Green King franchise, it is nothing out of the ordinary, but the staff are friendly and food is good. There is a good atmosphere inside the pub which makes you feel welcome and relaxed. We enjoyed declicous 8oz rump steaks, burgers and a kids meal all reasonably priced and well cooked. In fact it's been a long time since I had a steak this tender.

We decided to try this pub for the first time. We started with a meal 3 course the steak pie is delicious by all accounts we had the breaded garlic mushrooms to start and i had a banoffee pie for pudding which was lovely. and drinks which were really reasonably priced. We continued the evening with about 8 games of pool only 3 of which i won!. It wasnt too busy but this made it an all more enjoyable evening the food was great! We had a great evening and will definately go there again. Best pub we have been to. Since living in stevenage.

First time visiting The Crooked Billet, came here with my father for a quiet drink and we got exactly that. Very serene, peaceful and the bar staff are very nice too. This will definitely be my pub of choice for the future!

Monday and Tuesday it closes early and there is no food, but very friendly staff. I don't know whether the times change during the summer months. Lovely village pub, good atmosphere. Worth visiting.

Large pub suitable for family with a decent selection of pub grub. Brilliant in the summer with lots of outdoor space and a children's play area. The football is always on here.

Cheap and cheerful pub food with nice quick service. The staff were friendly too and didn't seem to mind we ordered deserts just before the kitchen closed.

Real pub ,real people and good beer competitively priced . It may not suit everyone but a friendly welcome and happy pub even though I had never been before.. Definitely return when the opportunity arises.

We have been to the Crooked Billet 3 times now for food and each meal has been perfect! Steak is cooked perfectly just how we like our steaks cooked, the sausages are lovely and good quality, roast potatoes were perfect (i am fussy with my roast potatoes but these were really lovely) i would definitely recommend this pub, staff are soo friendly, food is good quality and good value, they even have a good menu for vegetarian people (and we are not even vegetarian but was impressed) Deserts were really nice and plenty of custard (not like some places that dont give you enough!)
