I had an evening meal here with a friend on Saturday night partly for nostalgic reasons as the restaurant is in what was The White Hart pub, a lovely old historic drinker and a firm favourite of ours years ago during our youth.
Although the layout is pretty much the same as it was but the decor is bright with pink and blue fluorescent lighting which has modernised the place up.
It was quite busy with a nice burble of chatter but they managed to seat us straight away.
The service was good without being overbearing.
I ordered the Lamb Shashlick and a keema naan but what I got wasn’t what I expected. I thought it would be lumps of lamb in a creamy sauce with onions but what I got was tandoori cooked lumps of meat with some onion.
However it was lovely and the meat was tender and I appreciate that different regions/areas in India cook, what is called by the same name, in different ways.
Not a criticism but might be worth mentioning it on the menu hence the only reason for the 4 stars.
The prices were very reasonable as well.
All in all worth a visit.
Fantastic experience from entering to leaving. Food amazing ever so tasty. Service second to none. Never been in an Indian Restaurant as busy. Even though extremely busy staff were amazing and efficient.
Very nice place to eat and share a date with. U can hear each other. Waiters vert discretely move about the place clearing dishes
Ordered a takeaway last night for me and family. My first time as I am not local but my son and daughter in law have used many times
OMG - absolutely delicious -
I have had quite a few curries in my time but this was exceptional.
As for the onion bhajis they are nearly the size of a football and a meal in themselves
Thank you
First time trying this place out wish we had visited sooner,
The gunpowder curry was hot but flavoursome & the railway chicken mildly sweet with a slight sour cinnamon kick.
The sag planner was fresh tasty and not sloppy like most other places
You must get the onion bhaji when you visit it looked amazing we wished we had got one
My go too Indian! Food is always delicious, really cosy inside. The onion bhaji’s are me & my boyfriend’s favourite. Cant beat um
Great food as always. Good range of vegetarian options. We always over order because we just cant choose, its all good
Great Indian place. Food was well cooked and swiftly served.
Visited on a Saturday night. The restaurant was fully booked - great atmosphere.
The service was excellent and the food was brilliant - best Indian I’ve been to in a while. The classics were fantastic but so were the chef’s specials, as recommended by our waiter (we were recommended the Karahi kebab khyberi 👌). The onion bhaji is ridiculously big but delicious (apparently the chef is the Guinness World Record holder for the biggest onion bhaji - 175kg!).
Highly recommended!
We got there earlier than our booking time and the staff had no issues with that. Good friendly fast service, food was served quickly after we ordered and it was excellent. Defo worth a visit and experience some fantastic tasty food.
Absolutely delicious, luscious portions of heaven on your taste buds.
Always ask why there are power sockets on the ceiling !?
Very good food and excellent service.
