We were lucky enough to be given a place at The Taste of Vintage tasting evening tonight.... what and absolute treat!!
We sampled a number of the new starters, mains and desserts. Highlights of the evening...
The starters - calamari on prawn cracker with a sweet chilli sauce and the prawn and lobster cocktail.
The mains - the wagyu beef burger, the steak and ale pie and the chicken pie. They were the perfect size for those with smaller appetites - my idea of heaven would be three mini pies, just like burger sliders!!
The desserts - Eton Mess and the Raspberry Cheesecake - Wow!!! And that’s coming from someone who doesn’t normally like desserts.
Fab evening, thank you so much Neil and staff for a really great night. We are really looking forward to joining you again to enjoy the new menu
What a great place, just popped in for a quick snack, good food, great service, highly recommend!
We went there for Easter lunch after have booked online; staff very friendly and professional. The food was good and we enjoyed it. I only saw all the bad reviews after being there and I am a bit confused, they must have changed quite a lot recently because we had a great lunch and we will definitely come back. The only suggestion is to “adjust” the espresso, but I am italian and of course not easy to please with that.
Had a lovely meal, very reasonably priced too. Would definitely recommend this pub. Nice surroundings and friendly staff
Went here for sunday lunch for a friends birthday, sunday just gone.. omg the food was amazing, actually cant wait to go back! Really friendly and chatty staff too. We all had a lovely evening :)
Came for a little family meal. For the great quality of the food its suprisingly cheap! Beautifully presented and huge portions, couldnt finish mine! Really cute atmosphere with the dim lighting and candlelit tables. Staff are really polite and very professional. First time coming definately returning, going to be a new favourite place!
Firstly, our waitress Abbie was superb, efficient and professional with a great sense of humour that kept my elderly parents amused.
3 perfectly cooked fish and chips and an equally well delivered scampi was as much as we could have hoped for. Just enough room for puddings that were delightful and we all agreed what a lovely lunch it had been. So much so my elderly parents have said they will definitely return on there own for the odd lunchtime treat.
Well done and thank you
The meal took a while to be served, but it was worth the wait. It was really lovely, and the dessert was gorgeous too. I would definitely go there again.

Still a 5, but the kitchen need to take more care not to let the serving staff down. My wife's turkey meal wasn't entirely hot and the root veg wasn't cooked well enough. Sticky Platter was superb.
Since the new landlord Martin has taken over it's a great pub to eat at. Had amazing time and we travelled from here up north for my son's birthday. The staff and Martin were amazing . Weldone everyone. And even sang happy birthday and supplied candles for my son's cake x great night great atmosphere .
We visited The Chequers after a big family event and we all loved it! The staff were all friendly and the food was delicious. With plenty of parking and being easy to find too I’d highly recommend this place.
Visited the Chequers for lunch and had such a warm feel to it, the fires were on which gave it such a lovely feel. Food was wonderful and the staff were attentive and genuinely wanted to provide a great service. Will definitely be returning!
The staff made us feel very welcome from when we walked through the doors.
The dinners was really love, however, my daughter ordered the Eaton Mess and we were hugely disappointed that there were hardly any meringue in it and also no fruit what soever. She was really looking forward to it as I had it in a different restaurant and she said she will order that next time we go out. The waiter was kind enough to remove it from our bill but I thought that you should either remove it from your menu or up your game for the Eaton Mess and include more meringue and fruit and cut down on the amount of cream used.
Lovely atmosphere, every table offers a different experience, gr8 outdoor space. Lovely staff. Warm open fires in the winter. Easy to find and good size car park
Best roast dinner I've had in a very long time! The triple was fantastic and the roast potatoes spot on. I don't review often, but this one was definitely worth giving credit. If you're on the fence, don't be. You won't be disappointed 👍
We descended at the pub after a group outing. The pub was very accommodating and patient when ordering drinks. Prices were very reasonable. Lots of selection. Not a pub for someone nearly 6 foot tall. Duck due to low ceiling. Plenty of outside seating. Visit for a quick pint or a meal, you won't be disappointed.
Nice place and ideal set up . One of a few that still have awnings with outdoor heating . Enjoy meeting up here with my children . Staff often look tired or fed up in these industries where ever you go but thats more of a question for the industry and i always give them a mention though they were pleasant enough here . Quite enjoyed the food and drink and will be visiting again . Thank you.
Great choice of food for Father's Day. Very busy when we arrived at 4:30pm. Had to wait a short while for our table for 6. Service was a little slow so waited an hour for any food to arrive. We had a lovely meal though and will return.
The service was excellent. Tasty food and good portion sizes. We booked a table in the dining room and then after our meal sat in the garden for drinks.
Did not eat this time, so no food score. More of a food pub than drinking pub. Handy for a beer after golf at the local golf course.... Nice interior (v low ceiling at bar). Cask ale (Doombar)
Aug 23 BH weekend, recent revisit and nice surprise to see London Pride as well 🙂
Food was fantastic everything cooked to perfection including my blue steak which I am a fussy customer with so big compliments to Jordan and Ben in the kitchen.
Service from Emma was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable of the products on sale and was very welcoming and made it a very enjoyable experience.
Serves (good quality) food all day. Stopped in without a booking - group of 12. Very accommodating (lots of children in our group!). Great service and food. Recommend if you're looking for something whilst in the area. 👍
I like the Vintage Inn chain but I have to say The Chequer’s is my favourite. Not only is it local to me it offers the best service and food. It’s a lovely spot and the staff are always friendly and helpful. It’s also excellent value for money. My only critism is that they don’t have Fillet Steak on the menu. That said the sirloin and Rib-eye are generally very good.
Good food, we went on Saturday lunchtime and found a table outside.easily. the service at the bar was friendly but very slow either only one person serving during a busy part of yhe say. The food wad lovely but took a long time to come out.
Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Dog friendly inside and out, not far of a walk from any residential areas. Has a bar and resturant, lots of parking spaces, nice walks on the opposite side of the road.
Mmm The Chequers, Lovely place for a Traditional Pub lunch. Original Wooden Beams inside, watch ur head, some small walkways inside. Very presentable inside. Staff are very Curtious. Went on a Sunday, did not expect the pub to be fully booked, but they squeezed us in ( table for two).
I had the Trio of Meats, Beef, Turkey & Pork Belly, all with a compliments, dessert was Rich Banoffee pie, to die for .
Well Done Zoe
