We had the seafood platter and a steak and ale pie. The platter was amazing with all local ingredients and beautifully cooked and presented. The pie chips, peas and gravy was superb. The chips were spot on and the gravy was glorious. The pie was home made and perfect.
The owners and staff were very welcoming and friendly and the service was excellent.
Living in the village it's fascinating to see the old photographs of the village and all the railway signs.
Where to start? Brilliantly kept beer (Yellow Hammer my absolute favourite). Attentive and professional staff. But all of this is completely overshadowed by the most incredible chowder we have ever tasted, just stunning. I mean, the mussels were awesome, but the chowder, just wow! As an aside, I am the world's greatest chip fan, and both the skinny and chunky fries are at the top of my best chips ever list. Not only coming back soon but encouraging all my friends, family, acquaintances and random strangers to come in and eat, drink and relax at the Atmo! (Ps did I mention the chowder?)

Having recently moved to the area we was intrigued to see what the most important feature of a new area would be like..... The local pub! Well we couldn't be happier, the food is amazing... Genuinely the best meal I think I've had. Good prices and generous servings. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and the selection of ales is impressive. I have found my new favourite local �

Julie and I had a lovely Roast this Sunday at the Atmospheric Railway Inn. The Stickey Toffee pudding was to die for. We would highly recommend visiting this well priced, warm friendly public house, and will be to all our friends and anyone we encounter at Golden Sands Dawlish Warren.
Myself and Cass in for couple pints of Jail accompanied by 2 roast beef dinners with extra side of roast spuds, the extra side wasn’t because you don’t enough just that they are the best.

Just been in for the Thursday grill night with my husband. We had the steak and all I can say is, it was superb. The steak, tender and my hubby is fussy cooked to perfection. 1 rare and 1 medium. Chips were crisp, onion rings great and don't forget the field mushrooms, in my opinion the hardest thing to get right. Someone in the kitchen knows their stuff and cares about food. 10/10. If I lived locally, I'd be a regular. Not going to forget our waitress. Service with a smile. Thankyou.
Amazing food, if all the people fighting in the world just stopped for 5 minutes and ate the roast potatoes at this place, they would soon realise there time was best spent at the Atmospheric!!!!
5 of us went today for Sunday lunch and all had a roast. We have visited many pubs trying to find the perfect Sunday roast and I have to say this one was up there with the best. Followed by some of the most delicious desserts we have sampled, all for a very reasonable price. My other half was also very impressed with how good the beer was!!! Very clean pipes it seems...... ;-) Don't forget the lovely walks in the area to end the afternoon, we walked to Powderham and back. Perfect :-)

Visited 3 times while on holiday in September really good meals on all occasions. Pie night, Sunday lunch, wanted the curry night but a mix up on social media meant it was not available, never mind always next year. 5 stars
Great little pud dog friendly good selection behind the bar and the food was really good. Beer garden is great and it had a little play are too. Well worth a visit
Arrived for an impromptu Sunday lunch without a booking at opening time (12) and took one of last 2 available tables. Other spare table was gone 5 minutes later. Had a lovely Sunday roast with delicious vegetables served separately to allow mixing and matching. Personally chose the vegetarian mushroom and blue cheese parcels and couldn't fault them - and what I stole of others' meat options were very good. Service was great and friendly and chatty. Child loved the simple but well built swing/slide out the back.
Had a fantastic evening at The Atmospheric with new friends. After arriving in Starcross much later than I'd expected I was invited to have a meal and join the quiz for the extremely amazing price of £10!!
A gorgeously tasty burger with salad which went down extremely well after a day of travelling and then joining in with the quiz made it such a lovely evening, I totally felt like one of the 'family!!'
The usual menu is really varied and supplied by local suppliers. There is '2for' nights with pizzas and pie nights.
Very friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere... especially on quiz nights!!
Brilliant food. Lovely and friendly staff. Right along the train line so can watch them go past while your waiting. Would 100 percent recommend going. My only flaw would be that we happened to go on a day where they were having some supply issues so had quite a few things missing from the menu. Other than that it was great.
From start to finish we were very pleased with the experience, all the staff were pleasant and knowledgeable, there's plenty of choices and many specials on chalk boards, they have a pie night on Tuesdays and steak nights on Thursdays also do a Sunday roast.
We had a soup and prawn cocktail for starters, then both had ribeyed steaks for mains which was cooked to perfection.
Beautiful food. The Sunday roast was amazing! Managed to get us in though we hadn't booked! Great value. Will definitely return.
Stopped in for dinner with friends for bar food and drinks. We were served by Charlotte who was very attentive and a brilliant waitress. The food was delicious! The burger deal was fantastic.

A lovely place to have some real good quality food.
The staff are friendly and very helpful and attentive.
It is very well run with a choice of 3 or 4 ales. Ciders and lagers. As well as the usual spirits with plenty of gins to choose from too.
It is located opposite the Starcross railway , from where you can get the ferry to Exmouth during the day.
Car parking is opposite the pub. The views from The railway bridge are excellent too.
There is a beer garden too.
The quality of the Monkfish Scampi I had as a starter and the Cod Battered as a main was brilliant.
The cod was an excellent fillet.
Minted peas and homemade tartare sauce too, the chips were tasty too.
Loved the food and it was excellent value for what you got.
Will return, already booked a table for 19th September when next down.
On this, above mentioned ,September return visit we had the Sunday lunch which was very tasty.
Again three ales on tap and very good friendly service.
Brilliant, so worth a visit and highly recommended from me too.

I booked a 40th birthday party for my partner and have to say this venue was amazing. They provided so much help getting everything together as we were travelling from Liverpool for the event.
The owners Clare/John and all the staff were professional and friendly providing everyone a warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere.
The food I ordered was delicious and went down a treat with everyone at the party. The venue made sure the continually topped up the exquisite buffet.
Overall the party was a massive success thanks to the venue and the staff. I would defiantly recommend as a party venue and for the catering whether it’s for an event, a meal out or just a drink in a friendly and fun venue.
I can’t thank this venue enough for all they did at such a reasonable price, they went above and beyond to make the party perfect and we will defiantly be returning regularly when we visit.
It was a Monday and really quite at 6pm but we pitched up unannounced for my birthday meal, we were treated wonderfully, staff very welcoming and friendly. We had starters odlf soup and prawn cocktail, then both had Ribeye steak, cooked to perfection for us (medium), it was so tender we didn't need the steak knife. .....car park is very tight but I did manage to park my 7 seater Ford Galaxy,.....we will return when back in the area. Do give it a try.

Lovely friendly pub just outside Dawlish. We stopped for lunch which was yummy! Reasonable prices, great Gin selection and lovely beer garden too. Child friendly, would definitely return 👍
Had dinner here with the other half today, we had the most amazing burgers, the onion and tomato chutney complimented the beef perfectly and the chips were proper british farmhouse chips. I honestly don't think I'll ever eat a better burger. Lovely vibe and amazing service too! Thankyou so much to the incredible team and compliments to the chef.

Thought we'd finally give this place a go after hearing all the good reports. Wow. We arrived unannounced - and asked for the pie of the day. As a genuine foodie - I can't explain how good this pie was. Not only this, but the mashed potatoes and side veg were mouth watering. This is a gem on our doorstep that we didn't realise existed, thank you so much for being such nice hosts, and for serving such amazing food. You have earned our returned custom and can not wait to return. Thank you again.
