The best Indian I’ve had in ages! Can’t believe it’s right on my door step and I haven’t been here before! I’ll definitely be going again!

Just had my first meal from the Roots of India. The food was authentic in taste (my previous experiences have included eating currys in Birmingham and London) and obviously used fresh ingredients. The meat was also of very good quality. I will be returning on a regular basis now that I have discovered this gem!!

We ordered twice in one week, that’s how much we enjoyed the food! Nice customer service and great quality food. Everything made fresh! We did have to wait 30-40 min both times but this was because we ordered in person. This place is definitely worth a try!

We have just finished this takeaway. It was very good. We had onion bhajis which were the size of a tennis ball and very tasty. Next up was the tandoori chicken tikka, again very good and tasty so much I forgot to take a photo Our main was lamb acher and a keema naan. The lamb was beautifully cooked as was the naan. For me it was too spicy but other half loved it.

Working in the area I used the online ordering so I could pay by card. Cash only in the shop. Food was ready on time and have to say, the basic lamb curry I had was excellent. As good as anywhere in the UK I`ve been to. Naan was a decent size (lots of places are cutting them down) and the onion bhaji was good, with a nice clean taste. I`ll be back again tonight, and tomorrow :) Highly Recommended. EDITED to add: Back again tonight and once again, the food was excellent. The aloo gobi was cooked to perfection. The curry is pefect for me. Not too spicy but very tasty. If I lived within 20 miles of here, this would be my go-to place. I`ll be back next week though when back at work.

In the area on holiday & when we've been before we had a fantastic meal from roots of India so we ordered again from here, it didn't disappoint. King prawn balti was so tasty & my husband loved his prawn korma. I ordered a vegetable bhaji thinking it was like an onion bhaji but it wasn't, it was vegetables done in a spicy sauce, I will know in future its not done in batter, but it was really tasty & I would have it again. Great service too, ordered online & collected, overall a 10 out of 10 for the food & service. We will definitely come again when we come back to the area. Thanks roots of India keep up the great food

‘Only take cash in store’ Found Roots of India online after a day out. Placed our order over the phone and told it would be 45 minutes for pick up. We ordered for a group of 8 and no one was disappointed with the food. The only real let down was the naan, it was very dry and hard. Roots is only a take away, the shop itself is very clean and has a little waiting area. Note they only take cash (there is a cash point next door, coop) Overall Roots was well worth the money and the food was delicious.

Would highly recommend Roots of India, delicious authentic meals with a huge choice to try. Requested spicy Mushroom Masala and it was absolutely gorgeous, the onion bhajis are a must also! So happy this is our local Indian takeaway restaurant, will be ordering regularly and trying the extensive Vegetarian specials. Staff very helpful and happy to help with requests. Thank you!

Honestly this is the best tasting Indian take away I've ever eaten, and my family agrees! The cashew nut pilau rice was something different and absolutely delicious. My husband had the mixed balti and that was amazing. I ate the aloo paneer which was nicely spicy - I'm too used to having bland vegetable dishes so this was a welcome change! The only reason that I'm not giving 5 stars is that on the occasion we visited we did not experience good customer service. We were initially told our meals would be 20 mins after we had paid online. We came to collect the meal after 20 mins to be told it would be another 20 mins, which was annoying but nothing you can do I suppose. After this time the meal took another 40 minutes! We dont mind waiting. It's just that we could have stayed home and waited instead - which would have been much safer for my brother in law who is vulnerable and went to collect with me. It was worth the wait but we would much rather have been told the truth about how long it would take in the first place!!

Ordered from here for the first time last night, placed my order when it opened and given a pickup time of 1 hour, had to wait for an extra 40 minutes when picking up as the place was really busy. I'm not surprised, the food was excellent, they also put a few extras in for the inconvenience, I highly recommend and would definitely order from here again.

Not to be missed! An amazing little gem hidden away in the North Pennines!! Our favourite take away. Food is absolutely top notch here and the staff are really friendly. I have tried a lot of Indian food and this one is the absolute best, better than a lot of restaurants we’ve been in!!!

We planned to eat at Bonnie Moorhen but kitchen was closed. We ordered takeaway and the amazing staff at the Pack Horse Inn gave us crockery to sit and eat in there. Food was delicious but huge portions so beware when ordering as we wasted about half of it which was a shame.

Best Indians I've had in County Durham, straight up. Pathia was absolutely delicious with beautiful sweet and sour flavours. Garlic naan baked with fresh coriander. Everything was perfect. Stunning food. He'd make a fortune in Durham City. 👌

Been coming here since last month. I had the Chicken Khakri which was amazing. My new favourite dish. Ordered via the online app. Came in shop and was ready on time. Service and food always spot on. Shocked at the last review by 'Anthony and Emma Lee' Seems like the Roots Of India done a favour by calling and advising the order wouldn't be ready? Everyone knows refunds are not always instant and is to do with the bank? I also ordered online myself and CHOSE 30 mins but when i checked my confirmation email it stated it would be ready in 45 mins.

We (Debbie & Kev) have been using this Indian for over 2 years now and it is exceptional. I have been through the menu and always ask for spicy hot - which they always deliver on ! You must try this Restaurant !
