Reviews The Three Cups

The three cups is a restaurant type pub. There is a good range of beers, lager and cider, including two very nice cask conditioned hand pulled real ales. The cask ale was in perfect condition when I called in. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I didn't have anything to eat while I was there, but the menu looked very interesting, and the food coming out of the kitchen looked very well presented and very tempting. The pub is dog friendly, and there was a bowl of water and some dog biscuits inside the entrance. It's a great pub.

I went on Saturday evening 17/12/22 with a friend and we had the turkey Christmas dinner and chocolate brownie with ice cream. Lovely food, very delicious. The staff were very polite and helpful . The pub had a few groups in and couples it was a nice atmosphere but not noisy. Not been to this pub for a while but it was well worth going back. I will go more often.

I booked on line and mentioned that we (a party if 5) were bringing my elderly mum for her 89th birthday. I asked for an accessible table as she has limited mobility and Alzheimer’s. When we arrived our table was awash with birthday decorations, dessert came out with candles and the staff treated my mum like royalty! It was just a lively occasion 😊

We had the Sunday menu and it had a good mix of meals. The lamb was lovely and tender, the beef was right. Veg came seperate so we could split as we felt like it. The boys had burgers and we was able to have 1 just plain as desired. The waitress was helpful and polite and had to go back and ask the chef if it was possible to do small changes and was able to get a dessert that wasn't on the menu. A good choice of beers and largers and not your usual mass produced ones. We live in Manchester but when we are in the York area this is the pub we go to for a meal they have never let us down. The Three cups is a vintage inns pub so use there loyalty app for special offers.

We loved it! We treated our two grandsons to an evening meal and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. Lovely warm atmosphere and delicious food. We would recommend and will return when in the area.

Becoming very expensive and don't feel the food is value for money and the price of a glass of wine has rocketed! Will be a long time before I revisit. The staff are lovely and it's a great pub but the prices - wow!

Most enjoyable late lunch experience - polite and patient waiters, comfortable ambience, excellent choice of menu, delicious main course and desert. Plates weren't cold but they could have been hotter to stay warm until completing the main course and the coffee could have been a little stronger but, all in all, almost perfect! Wish I lived closer to be able to visit more often.

Brilliant, excellent service and scrummy food. I changed my booking to add a person and it wasn't a problem. The Father's Day menu had lots of choice and was great value for money, especially with such delicious food on offer. And, you would never know the pannacotta was vegan!

The menu was excellent. I had a chicken burger and my friend had the chicken schnitzel. It tasted lovely but the presentation was underwhelming. The burger was nice, chips were fine but could have done with a garnish side or something. We ordered our deserts - sticky toffee pudding and a crumble. Unfortunately both were cold and so was the custard. Staff were very attentive towards this. I do think the menu is upper class but the food coming through maybe didn’t match. We do love it there though and will come back.

Lovely welcome find as we were in need of a food stop on the way back from the coast. We were lucky to get a walk in table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was great and allergies were checked. I had the vegetable curry with sticky Jasmine rice which was tasty.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this place truly deserves one. Prompt service, friendly staff, cosy interior and excellent food. Everything was spot on! I strongly recommend having the Steak Frites. The steak was one of the best cuts I’ve had in my life and was cooked to perfection (absolutely no exaggeration). I’m not local but when I’m up near York next, I’ll definitely be visiting The Three Cups again… without a doubt!

An absolute gem of a place! The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was excellent- and so cheap for the quality! Even the kids meals were homemade. There was a sizable choice and an enticing specials board too. The building was full of olde worlde charm with oak beams everywhere, and while the pub was busy on our visit there was plenty of space between each table so you could enjoy the atmosphere without feeling claustrophobic or crowded.

I am vegan so was pleased to be able to eat here, definitely recommend the vegan burger. Myself and my friends were really happy with the food and the friendly helpful staff. The only complaint was the big group of drunks at a table close to us, one of them was particularly loud, screeching constantly. The staff kept telling us they would be leaving soon but they lingered on. I would have liked a member of staff to tell them to keep the noise down.
