Great location and a super nice hotel. It was a great location and has a bar/restaurant in the hotel.
Just a note, you will have to take your suitcases up two flights of stairs, as there are no elevators.
The room is on the small side but comfortable. The bathroom is small but super clean. I would suggest that they put an additional light above the mirror as it was kinda hard to put my makeup. Also, maybe suggest they put up additional hooks for towels.
The shower is really
Lovely traditional pub in the heart of Staithes. The crab sandwich was awesome, very fresh and more crab than bread! Service was super friendly and dogs welcome too.

Amazing food and a nice pub for all the family, we were all super stuffed from just a main course and we can eat a lot, good value for money and high quality fodder. Sat outside under cover so it was really lovely as inside was full. Highly recommended if you're staying nearby and easy to find/access on the high street.
A definite 5 stars in every respect is our experience.
Sunday lunch is up there with the best available anywhere.
We had prior notification from a friend that the adult portion available from the menu was huge so we opted for three children sized options from the menu.
Highly recommended!
Just got back home from staying at The Royal George.
Perfect Location , 30 seconds walk to the stunning old Fishing port., Simply beautiful, we went to whitby, and Sand send and we quickly came back here. The other places were to big with little to offer but this little village with its shops was a real Gem. Great Pub with an excellent full English breakfast, great rooms and a great price. The Staff were so friendly and we will be back.
Thank you again. Pete Fiona x
We were walking part of the Cleveland Way from Saltburn to Whitby and stayed overnight at the Royal George. Arriving parched mid afternoon, we had a lovely pint of cider sitting at the front in the sun. After that, we checked in. A lovely helpful staff member showed us to our room. A double en suite, it had everything that was needed - mineral water, lots of tea and coffee, a nice en suite with toiletries, comfortable bed, charging points, etc. It was in good repair and the newish double glazing very nearly coped with the herring gulls at 5am! We wandered around Staithes, then returned for another pint, before having a shower and then eating. The food was fantastic - but erring on the 'too much'. I had the surf n turf. A 10 oz sirloin with whitebait, scampi and calamari rings, etc. The seafood salad was also ordered - what a plateful. The side order of chips was redundant. We had a couple of glasses of wine. All very enjoyable. The staff were all great.
In the morning, breakfast was served in a small breakfast room. I had the full english - which was daft given what I ate the night before. But it was all lovely and again, we were looked after by friendly and helpful staff. We packed up and set off on the rest of our walk to Whitby.
I would happily stay here again. I would certainly happily drink and eat here again. Please note that they do a lunch and then evening food service - it is not an all day service. Also, it's well worth booking in to eat as the Royal George is quite small and so pitching up ad hoc may leave you disappointed.
A very warm Yorkshire welcome, shown to a smart, nipping clean room with ensuite. The bar was cosy and had a great atmosphere both afternoon and into the evening.
We did not have an evening meal but the food smelt and looked fantastic.
We slept well in comfortable bed the breakfast was top notch.
Great single night stay and will certainly return.
Nice comfy stay.. only one night but was pleasant... food in the pub was top notch.. clean rooms and bathrooms.. staff nice and friendly. Good location
Tip ...
Just size up how much you need to carry from your car down the hill .. you can drive down and drop your things off.. but with other cars and delivery vans etc it can be tight for room if everyone else doing the same...
Also I had no phone signal at car park to pay the parking charge.. so beware . Carry a few coins as a back up... ( no cash points handy) but if you can get on WiFi then you can sort after....
Unique little place Staithes.. love it
We stopped off here for lunch when visiting staithes...and the food was amazing....you gotta try their homemade chips...just like my dad used to make 😋...friendly welcome...just a beautiful little place ...thanks for having us...we will be back🥰
Lovely, cosy pub with mouthwatering food. My steak was cooked to perfection and the portion size was very generous indeed - the home made chips were beautiful!
We took advice and booked a table and we're glad we did - the place filled up very quickly and is very popular.
We stayed here 2 nights, July 2022. We were really impressed & would recommend. Great location in the heart of beautiful Staithes. Our room (3) was really lovely. The owners/staff were really nice. The beer & food in the pub on Friday evening was great. Breakfast superb. We will be back.
What a nice friendly place, a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, a nice range of beers and the food looks fabulous, I had a fresh crab sandwich with salad and chunky chips, very tasty and good value for money.

Really good little spot, we had crab sandwich and the scampi, both served with chips. Food service was incredibly quick and we are in the courtyard to the rear. Dog friendly, great service top notch food. Definitely worth trying.
The food was excellent, we went twice, market prices for the menu, large portions , gammon chips, fried egg and vegetables, chilli half rice half chips, 2nd visit tuna salad very fresh generous portions, bread lovely, I had the gammon again delicious
We have been doing a mini tour from London to Scotland, so this is one of our halfway stop off points on the way back home.
We loved it, fabulous clean and comfortable room, staff very welcoming and friendly.
Unfortunately we were too late to try the food in the bar, but breakfast was wonderful, l had salmon and scrambled egg, my partner had sausage, egg, hash brown and bacon.
I really enjoy being in traditional old places like this. We parked up the hill in the car park overnight, and drove down parked in loading bay near The Royal George to put our cases in.
Went for a walk around the harbour and beach, there are other places locally to eat and visit.
Thank you for a wonderful stay and warm welcome.
Great place, I just wish it was nearer to where I live.
On this occasion we didn't eat but I have done in the recent past and food was very good.
What like even more is the fact that you can get an exceptional pint of Old Peculiar on tap, good stuff long may it last.
Excellent place to eat. Great surf n turf, fish & chips, and the best steak & ale pie I've ever had.
12th Dec , 2023 had the best meal today , atmosphere was so nice and relaxing. Lovely place.. staff very friendly, glad we could take our Great dane dog there .. I had vegetarian, and partner had fish and chips, he enjoyed them.
