Very impressed with both the service and the food. We stopped in for dinner this evening at 5pm. We were offered a choice of tables. Decided to take a nice table in the archway. Our waitress was exceptional; she was very attentive and helpful. Our three year old son loved his food and was spoilt for choice on the ice cream list. My husband had the steak and it was really well cooked and a great portion size. I had the chicken pie which was lovely. It was my birthday, so our waitress brought out a surprise happy birthday dessert. All in all very impressed and I would definitely recommend it to others. We'll be back!
Special thanks to our waitress, who's name I didn't catch. She was a young woman with blond hair and glasses. Also, to Ruth behind the bar who was very attentive to our son.
Well what can I say this place is total outstanding in all areas food, drink, staff, place to relax on a Sunday afternoon with close family and friends. We will return. Got to stop the night the next time we go.
Breakfast was served on hot plates and tasted amazing. Couldn't eat all the breakfast. I loved that you can have endless tea/coffee with your breakfast.
Absolutely amazing food served by very attentive and friendly staff. Only popped in for a quick bite, ended up having a three course meal!!!!! Very reasonably priced in a lovely environment, will definitely be going back very very soon!!

Pretty good. We have been a couple of times for dinner and found a lively atmosphere, a good menu choice and reasonable value. Tables are a bit close together and service is sometimes hit and miss but generally pretty good.

A family get-together a couple of weeks ago, enjoyed by us all. The Inn itself, the food, the staff, everything was good, I mean super. Rather, unbelievable! It was a marvellous day, the staff made certain of that and we were looked after superbly. The star of the show, though, was Lorraine, who found this pearl of a place and booked it for us all to enjoy. We will, I'm sure make another visit. Thanks to everyone who worked there, you couldn't have done better. No stars for the rooms because we didn't stay over, but I'm certain they would have been super to match the standards everywhere else.
I had the pleasure of attending the Dog and Doublet for a family reunion and it was a great experience. The event was organized as a buffet with a per-head payment, and I must say, the portions were more than generous; we were unable to conquer the entire spread. The culinary quality was delightful, with the sausage rolls standing out as a particular delight - each food item I tried was delicous.
However, what truly sets this establishment apart and earns it a well-deserved 5-star rating is the exceptional staff. Every team member demonstrated an incredible commitment to providing top-notch service, evident by their constant diligence and non-stop activity throughout our visit. Every individual working that day truly deserves commendation for their remarkable dedication and effort.
Came here on a Saturday night. The tables in the restaurant were all booked but they fit us in at a bar table. The food was amazing, service was quick enough and everyone was really friendly. The place itself is really nice as well!
Popped in for coffee and breakfast, unfortunately breakfast finished at 10:30am! Whoops! But the coffee was great and the pub really nicely laid out. I'll go back earlier on another day as my sister highly recommends it!!!

We fish and chips very nice large piece of cod cooked in batter triple fried chips.
Hot tasty and filling meal would recommend if passing like us or if you live locally.
This review is only for the restaurant.. Lovely pub with good food and nice ambiance. Staffs are all lovely as well.. All the food we ordered was spectacular especially the fish pie and Caesar salad.
Visited for Father's Day. What a great meal. Food was delicious. Good sized portions. Good service. Really well priced for a 3 course set menu.

Location good connections, but directly at the Main road and railway... but if the windows are closed you hear, feel nothing desturbing about it.
2 meals Fish and Chips and Caesar salad (which was particularly good). 1 pudding tiramusu, 1 alcoholic drink and one mocktail £56. Food was lovely, price point is good value, they also prepared 1 meal that wasn't on Sunday menu which was appreciated (Although it was on the midweek menu). Plenty of parking and nice venue. The only negative was trying to pay the bill twice asked for bill with periods of 10 mins between each one then when we had the bill no one came for payment (although the table next to us who arrived after us was billed and paid within 5 mins) we ended up leaving the table to find someone who wanted to take our money.

Fantastic place, lovely inside and out. We had afternoon tea, the classics and alternatives for our Mothers Day meal. So tasty and so much food. The alternative is a great option for those who don't fancy cake and want a more savoury option with 3 craft ales (1/3 each). Paying the bill at the end was a bit of a faff as no one was around but soon sorted it. Really enjoyed it.

Place food staff brilliant. Rooms could do with slightly updating. Carpet bit dark. But was clean. Bed comfy. From our room we had noise from a boiler water tank. First night I didn't sleep. Second night was fine. Breakfast was brilliant. Staff so helpful. Location perfect.
Great food and service here. Can’t fault it all. Certainly one of the better pubs in the area. Can’t speak for the accommodation as have never stayed.
Always fantastic food is a great setting. Highly recommend.
