If you want old world charm, manners that are long gone, lovely setting, food to die for and a selection of food and treats that will blow your mind, then this is the place for you. We have been to the soup kitchen several times, we have never been disappointed, whether it’s a lite bite or a full blown meal you can’t go wrong. Next time you are in Stafford treat yourself.

Was walking past and found the Soup Kitchen. Fantastic place, staff most friendly I have ever seen, food outstanding. I have judged many Licensed premises for a large completion and if this place entered they would win easy.

Excellent tea room, staff very efficient and friendly, lovely atmosphere and excellent choice of menu , from light bites up to main meals and desserts. I have been several times, don’t be put off by a queue it is soon dealt with and you don’t have to wait long for a table. Choice of waitress service or self serve. Definitely will go again

We have had a lovely afternoon at the Soup Kitchen having lunch. We felt the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and ensure we enjoyed our food and drinks. The food was very reasonably priced, well presented and tasty and we felt the staff genuinely cared that we were having a nice time. Thank you to Duncan the owner also who spent time chatting with us ensuring everything was how we wanted it! We will be back!

I came in with my mum on her 88th birthday for a celebratory meal, the waitress overheard that it was her birthday and once we had finished our meals we heard a chorus of 'Happy birthday to you'! Alot of the waitresses came out with a cake and lit candle on a plate saying Happy birthday. It made her special day even more special :) Thank you so much all of you xx

every bit as good as i remember it from about 10 years ago! superb staff and great food, only thing id change is the orange on the ploughmans lunch, id change to grapefruit for more acidity against the cheese, but still wonderful!

So impressed with the soup kitchen. I treated my best friend for her birthday. I found this lovely place when I looked up places to eat in Stafford. Such friendly staff, very attentive and helped us choose from the vast menu! I loved that there are local delicacies on the menu such as oatcakes and rostis. I had the assam tea which was lovely. The rosti was delicious and my best friend had the pie and she loved it. I had carrot cake which was lovely but the bestie had biscoff cake which made me have food envy! We will be back. Definitely recommend.

If you want to go back in time to have a good dining experience don't look for a time machine, get into The Soup Kitchen. We have been with my wife and friends a few times and is always consistent in quality, service and hygiene. The English breakfast is made with the tastiest sausages and ingredients you will find. All cooked to perfection. Coffees and dinks also very well cared. Scones and sweets are also out of this time, as they were cooked by the tradition, very different from the industrialized products that you will find in other cafes and supermarkets. This is one of the few places in Stafford where you can still have the traditional Staffordshire Oatcakes. One of my favourites of the soup kitchen. Service is also excellent, friendly and professional at the same time. Staff is dressed in a uniform also that reinforces the idea of going back in time. The building is also a star. It is a listed property in my favourite town street, surrounded with plants and flowers. Ideal for your Stafford selfie.

We came to Stafford for a day trip. The local folks recommended Soup Kitchen and it was fair to say I was not disappointed. We were greeted with friendly and warm waiting staffs. The service is excellent, with friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff who are always happy to make recommendations and answer any questions. The restaurant's attention to detail is evident in all aspects of the dining experience, from the carefully crafted menu to the well-presented dishes. The atmosphere is lively, with a buzz of conversation and laughter filling the room. The restaurant is also well-maintained, with a clean and attractive dining area that adds to the overall experience.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere good. Steak and mushroom pie was a steak mushroom stew with puff pastry on top, tasted good. A pie to me should be incased in pastry. All freshly cooked.

It's larger than it looks there are tables for various group sizes .We went for the Roast of the day 1x Lamb and 1x Chicken .Asked for mashed potato but got roast instead. Asked for a smaller helping of potatoes and got mash and roast ones .They could do with offering a smaller plateful as we were over faced . Small selection of alcoholic drinks .The meal was very tasty just like home made .

We just randomly stopped at this place on our travels throughout the UK, and we couldn’t have have made a better choice. The service was fantastic. The manager even brought us a snack of chips in between our tea and meal to “tide us over” though the wait wasn’t long at all! The food was delicious, and as we left the manager brought us a brochure and card to remember our stop. I’m actually making a memory box of our travels throughout the UK, and it was such a thoughtful gesture. I can’t speak more highly of this spot and the staff!

Visited the Soup Kitchen this morning in the POURING rain, but that hasn’t damped the spirits of the staff what so ever! I have been visiting The Soup Kitchen since I moved to Stafford as a child 30 years ago and have never been disappointed. The Manager is so kind, welcoming and helpful every single day…I’m starting to suspect he may be a robot…surely no person that be that wonderful and happy everyday!? I had to leave a review today just to comment on the gentleman who served us. He was a young gentleman with dark hair and glasses and he was absolutely wonderful! I had my young son with me and the guy made him feel so welcome; talking to him at every opportunity, bringing him toys, selecting a few for him to play with and then very thoughtfully bringing my sons food first. Which, wasn’t even a specific meal on the menu, this lovely guy just asked me what my son eats essentially and just bought him a plate with a piece of toast and a sausage. This was a small gesture that went a long way. No matter where I live, I will always happily travel to Stafford to visit The Soup Kitchen, even if it means 15 miles of flooded roads…it’s so worth it. Thank you x
