Amazing place, I visited three times during my week trip to St ives, wish it was closer so we could visit more. Amazing friendly staff who have nothing but time for you and are happy to engage in a chat about movies etc would recommend to anyone.

Real classic old cinema like something out of the 1980s nothing hi-tech old seats. But a great feel about the place nice local staff very honest and good value for money. And next door to a curry house.

Visited this place for the first time to watch Top Gun Maverick. The staff were really friendly and helpful - service was excellent!! Prices for food and drink are all very reasonable and whilst the cinema is perhaps a little dated (more of a theatre feel), the seats are still extremely comfortable, well-spaced out and easy to access. An extremely enjoyable experience and would happily visit again to watch a film.

Great old cool cinema with comfy seats and high quality screens. I have been coming to the Embassy in Ilfracombe for year and this is equally nice

A lovely, very friendly little cinema with a quirky way of running things. They had big posters for the new Liam Neeson film inside but didn't know when or if they were screening it. Such is the life of a smaller cinema chain, so best to look out for what's on and trundle down when they've put the timings up. The screens don't have lots of seats and there are people on council estates with bigger TVs in their living room but we head a great time and enjoyed the whole experience very much. One star deducted for the floor cleaning sign propped up against my chair, the 25 minutes of adverts (sure that need to take money, I know, but TWENTY FIVE MINUTES after advertised starting time?) Actually I'm still giving 5 stars, naff it.

Came while on holiday and my partner and I loved this cinema. Its small, but that just adds to the charm. In my opinion it is so much better than the major chain cinemas. This place should be protected at all costs!!!

Small cinema wasn't overly packed when we took the grandkids to see Matilda. Under £50 for 4 adults and 3 kids wasn't bad. Screens are not enormous and some homes probably have bigger ones in lounges. I give it 4 stars but really it's a 3 star but good value for money do it tipped me over.

Those used to big town prices will be pleasantly surprised at the cost of visiting the Royal. Another nice feature is that the legroom between rows is huge. There is no doubt the cinema is dated and would benefit from some TLC, but the choice of programme was good this week and sound quality for the musical movies was fine - not set to annoyingly loud, like my local cinema. IMHO, the Royal really needs to better advertise itself and it's offerings, and some of the staff would do well to actually watch a few of the films, so they could discuss/recommend choices to prospective patrons. The Royal deserves to better used, both by locals and the hundreds of tourists who visit St. Ives.
