Not a bad venue at all, I liked it in all the times that I've been in. Will be making a visit on a Saturday for karaoke and see how it measures up... Nice establishment.
Recently been done up and had a beer garden done. Nice little stop off from a walk in sankey valley. Friendly staff and great selection of drinks.
Went walking with my dog today nearby we park at this pub and decided to try it's roast dinner and see how dog friendly it is.. well made up with all... and staff and customers making a fuss of him
Owners have a dog too..

A lovely little pub. We had a walk at Sankey valley just around the back and forgot we'd not eaten lunch half way around so decided to pop in for some grub.
Was totally empty, the barmaid was very friendly and the food was great! Would definitely visit again!
Came to the Ship Inn to watch the Grand Final. Found it to be surprisingly quiet. But the staff were fantastic, drinks where a great price and served quickly. Whole place was spotless aswell which is rare for a pub. I'll defo go back again.
Shame this place is closing have nt give staff chance to get it we're it should be
I enjoyed my visit to The Ship Inn when I called in to have a few pints of Guinness with my fellow St Helens group Ramblers after we ended our walk of the Sankey Valley and surrounding areas. All the staff were very friendly and their service was very good too. I also liked having my drinks outside in the spacious seating area, and I also found that the gents toilets were very clean and tidy when I needed it. I will definitely call in again when I am next in the area, and I will certainly try eating some food when I go as I noticed that the people whom had ordered from the good selection from the menu seemed to be enjoying what they were served. :)
Some years since I have visited this pub. Superb service from Ben the manager and the lovely Ann. Service just how it should be. Drinks are excellent at reasonable prices. We all had food. The fish and chips and the scampi and chips with mushy peas were excellent and great value for money. A great well run pub - cannot fault it. Toilets were spotlessly clean and also the Ship is really dog friendly so ideal to visit after a picturesque walk along Sankey Valley to Carr Mill dam. Will definitely be visiting again very soon.

I've been going to the ship for many years, it has changed many times, some good some bad, its been good for years now. Great atmosphere when the football or rugby is on. Food is served rather quick and is very nice and reasonably priced. Beer is good, only downside is there is no real ales! other than that, great pub!
