Amazing Food, great service.
First time eating at the Red Cat and it was amazing. When we walked in the staff were so welcoming, felt like we were regulars. The food was amazing, hot, fresh and quick service. We had three courses and a couple of soft drinks each and it was about £30 per person. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food. Can’t wait to go back again.
I would highly recommend.
Had the salt n chilli pork belly bites and a roast lamb dinner, absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced, atmosphere was great outdoor area was lovely too. I will definitely be back and have told everyone about it.
Red Cat pub is one of my favourite country pubs with views of Billinge Hill and the famous Crank Road Climb. It's a beautiful place to visit. They just had all the outdoor area redone there is smoking and none smoking. With lovely seating and a swinging wicca chair, it looks beautiful. Dogs are loud even with it being called Red Cat 🐈 😻 easy to find from Rainford bypass and the East Lances road. I ride here every week up Red Cat Lane, a nice little 9% Hill, then stop at the pub for a break the carry on Crank Road towards the golf course and 14% Hill. Perfect place if you're practising your climbing. Definitely must visit if you're in the area.
We ate from the new menu, which has small plates in a tapas style.
The food was beautifully presented, both colourful and neat. It tasted fantastic, too. There is a good variety of tapas and in addition, there are the more usual pub side dishes.
Not been here for many years and decided to give it a go as it's under new management (again) and has had some refurbishment. It hasn't changed too dramatically and is still a nice and cosy place inside. There is extensive seating outside but we didn't try that. There is the usual selection of beers, wines and soft drinks although one of the beers had run out. The meals were good. Two were rated as very good, one as good (although a bit stingy on the chips) and one was ok but much too spicy (although that is always a personal taste thing). Desserts were also good and not ridiculously overpriced like some places. The service was good too. We enjoyed it and we'll be back again.
A big pub lots of room your not sat on top of each other. Food was good and a good price.
Food was superb , all staff was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us will defo be going back 😊
Nestled in Crank, surrounded by rolling fields in all directions, the recently refurbished Red Cat really is a glowing wonder. Having visited a few years ago when service was slow and quality was lacking, I have been to the Red Cat several times since it was brought back to life at the end of 2022. There is something on the menu for everyone and the food is every bit as delicious as the sister pub The Stanley Arms. The inside spaces are warm and welcoming, including the dog friendly areas, but we chose to sit in the courtyard to enjoy the lovely weather. The staff are helpful, cheery, and attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We'll definitely be back soon!
Really delicious lunch! Chicken and broccoli pie of the day, served with handmade chips and veg, and a Turkey & gravy sandwich served on Spanish bread. Chips were thick cut, double fried and extremely tasty! Will definitely visit again to try more dishes on offer.
Inside is really attractive. Apparently had a refurbishment recently which is very nice. Good selection of beers and food. We chose from the lunch menu, which had a nice range if sandwiches and toasties. Service was also very good. The outside space is particularly nice, especially on a warm day. But even if the weather wasn't that great, its still possible to sit outside.
