4.5 The Tom Morris overlooks the Old and New Course at St. Andrew's. It's hard to ask for a better location, overlooking The Himalayas ladies putting green and some of the famous holes. The service is informed and happy and the food was very good, especially the Cullen Skink, a smoked haddock chowder which was excellent as well as the seafood platter. We also tried the Sticky Toffee pudding which was very good. Overall, a must visit.
Overall we had a very nice meal and certainly enjoyed the views and watching groups play through the course. We made a reservation and were sat along the windows. We enjoyed the steak sandwiches and were pleased to find out they had a kids menu as well. Service was decent but not attentive as would be expected in a nice venue like this, we were asked to order by the waitress immediately upon sitting down, menus had just been placed in our hands. We were also given a breakfast menu when it was well past breakfast service time (1:00 pm).
You might suspect that a restaurant in a location like this would be excessively priced and not great - but you'd be wrong. Lunch was definitely much better than brunch, but both were worth the price. Steak sandwich was fantastic. The restaurant has lovely decor, good menu, great staff. Great view of the links as well.
Great place for a post round meal and/or views of the courses.
Had lunch at Swilcan Lounge after a guided tour of The Old Course. Great view of the Old and the Himalayas courses. Our party ordered the Lobster mac and cheese, seafood pie, pan seared halibut and lamb rump. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The only thing that could have improved was the service in the lounge - it was ok but wasn't as friendly or as efficient as at other establishments we've visited in Scotland. Still worth a visit if in the area.
Initially shown to our table by what i can only describe as a curt italian member of staff. However all other members of young staff who took our drinks order and meal order were very helpful and polite.
We ordered the fish and chips which was fabulous, my only other issue was the plate/tray it was served on, it was not steady and every time I cut into my fish the plate spun round, not ideal! Our drinks and our desserts were also lovely. We had a lovely time despite a couple of small issues, so thankyou
Superb bowl of soup in a very fine setting. What a pleasure it was to be served by such a knowledgeable member of staff with an excellent understanding of the menu. The fish and chips was also excellent
Outstanding location with consistent food and delightful service. Our waitress Titania was enchanting and the view- even if you’re not a golfer- magnificent!
The Old Course tour was just what we wanted for our brief stop in St Andrews. Enough for golfers to appreciate holes #1 & 18 plus photo op on Swilcan Bridge.
Had lunch food was excellent, the service quick and efficient
The old Tom Morris beer is definitely worth a pint as well, it's very nice!
Would recommend highly
Great food that is authentic for the area. We tried Haggis for the first time and loved it, including the vegetarian version.
Great food, service and wonderful people. The burger was outstanding finishing with a delicious sticky toffee pudding.
Fab place in an amazing location. Visited on 3 occasions and the service and food was generally good and not as expensive as I thought it would be.
After a Sunday afternoon tour of the course, we had a great lunch at the clubhouse overlooking the area where you can putt. The fish and chips were very tasty.
