Dined here for breakfast. Great menu and food was top notch. Food arrived lovely and warm on hot plates. Particularly loved the tea cosy's on the tea pots...a nice touch. Deli counter had lots of interesting things on display, with Xmas coming up some great stocking fillers. By dining in Forgan's that weekend, we also had a 20% discount to use. Recommend highly for a great experience!
Afternoon Tea : two pots of tea, two sandwiches, scone cream and preservative, cake and slab cake.
Fantastic choice and excellent service by staff, highly recommend for value for money and quality. Thank you
Absolutely fantastic, not a bad word to say! My husband and I were here last night celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary and we had a great time! All the staff were very friendly and helpful, excellent atmosphere, the live music was great and of course the food was delicious. Prices were very reasonable for great quality food and drink. Would recommend to anyone!
We came in yesterday for a wonderful breakfast. The staff were very friendly and the food was out of this world and excellent value for money too and the portions were very generous which is always good! Will definitely be coming back beee in our next holiday to St Andrews.
Popped in for lunch for my wife's birthday yesterday. Staff were great and food was lovely. When our youngest girl decided she didn't want the kids pasta our waitress very kindly offered to replace it with another option. When we were about to leave, another waitress discovered it was my wife's birthday and so gave us some cake to go! Very nice touches - excellent customer service!!
Loverly place great food. We visited for the open 2015 and called here for breakfast. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. Brilliant and staff were very good
Had a lovely meal - Can highly recommend the chicken balmoral - lovely staff and atmosphere - good chef too x
Fabulous lunch yesterday, was extremely busy but did not wait long for a table. Staff were very good checking everything was ok, complimentary jug of water put on table without asking - no charge. Would not hesitate to recommend to friends and family

My son is at uni in St. Andrews and this is now our go to place. Food is always great. Usually there is something a little unusual. Prices not horrific either. Love it.
Great food at reasonable price. Cullen skink was very nice, lovely big bowl, meal in itself. Staff very friendly and efficient. Kids meal good value too. Lovely fresh local and Scottish produce used.
We visited St Andrews and decided to visit Mitchell for brunch and didn't disappoint. The breakfast was really tasty, black pudding was a standout and really liked the touch of the homemade beans with it. The only thing I could say was missing was a sausage, there was no lorne or pork sausage with the full breakfast but other than that it was perfect, my parter got avocado toast which she loved for a light bite. The coffee was really nice as well I had a flat white with gingerbread syrup and it was fantastic.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting St Andrews.
Top marks for customer service, average for food.
The staff are very very nice and courteous, to the point where you don’t want to offend them by saying the food wasn’t all that.
Had the vegetarian Leek soup, the burger, pulled pork croquettes, the polenta and the pulled pork fried.
I had the last 3 of those, and wasn’t impressed.
Nice place though.
Really good food, nice atmosphere, very friendly waiter and easily the best decorated toilet I've ever been in 👍👍 (sorry, no photo!) The bar upstairs (the Hive) is also really stylish.
The food was very good. I ordered the Wednesday special, flank steak, a bit grizzly but good flavor. My husband had the Shepherd’s Pie which he thoroughly enjoyed. The computers went down so getting a bill took quite awhile. Thank goodness for Howard, our waiter who was not only pleasant but fun had a fantastic sense of humor and took the dining experience to the next level! Hold on to that man!
Decided to take my staff there for a spot of lunch and I’m extremely pleased that I did. From the start the customer service was excellent, staff were extremely polite and the food was fantastic. The two young girls who served us were extremely attentive. I highly recommend a visit.
This restaurant was the best meal we had in St. Andrews. Book in advance as it fills up. Food is fresh and local with simple ingredients and a little flair. Servers were all smiles with attentive service. Lots of happy customers the night we ate here.
Noah, our server, was excellent. We ordered two Burgers, very tasty, loads of chips. Gigantic vegan options abound as the girls had cauliflower grilled with beet root hummus. Plus special food requests (no onions) were handled cheerfully. Get some of this soon!
Food was excellent. We had the bruschetta and ribs to start, sea bass and fish and chips and a couple of drinks. Really good value for money. Really good service from Russel. He was very attentive, well mannered, friendly and well informed on the menu. We will definitely be back!
Food was ok. My wife ordered the Cesar salad with salmon, but it turned out to be smoked salmon, which she does not like. Our mushroom on toast app was ok, but we expected a spread, not whole mushrooms on bread. Menu needs to be more descriptive.
Howard is the best waiter ever!! And Russel’s awful dad jokes aren’t too shabby either 😂
Great spot for a bit of lunch. Welcoming and friendly staff with good food and a nice coffee.
This place was fantastic. Great food and even better service - especially from Claire and Howard! Thank you so much!

We arrived at the restaurant as a very large party (30 plus) without a booking. The staff were good enough to open up their upper level, completely rearrange the place, and provide a set menu, all within a very short space of time. The food was delicious and plentiful (sorry, no photos, we were ravenous). We were in St Andrews for a very poignant family occasion, and the staff at Mitchell's worked their socks off to help us finish the day off really well.
As the pub we’re staying at doesn’t serve a full Scottish breakfast, we researched for a café that served one in the area we were visiting. This place came up. It was absolutely fantastic. Food fresh, reasonably priced and delicious, staff friendly, and a real arty atmosphere. It was our first time visiting St Andrew’s too. Will definitely call again.
Convenient location on Market Street with indoor seating. Friendly staff and prompt service. The mushroom risotto and Glenfiddich scotch were excellent. Gratuity is included in the tab.
