The queue for the takeaway was spilling out on to the street on Sunday night so i went in to try and get a table the staff were excellent & got a table for myself & my family. The food was amazing & the kids portions were more than substantial. Definitely recommend this place to any of my friends visiting St Andrews.
One of my favorite casual spots for really good seafood. They prepare for you to order and the way you prefer. The fish n chips are spectacular. The batter is light and crunchy, the fish firm, flatly and fresh! The chips however are the best around! The staff is friendly and accommodating! A hidden gen in Saint Andrew!!
Once again a Fantastic meal. Always make a point of popping in, when in this neck of the woods. Scallops lovely as was fish n chips and sticky toffee pud to die for. Booking essential though!

We love going to The Tailend when in St. Andrews, it's got a great atmosphere and a great choice of fish. We had oysters as a wee treat as well this time and they couldn't have been any fresher. The batter is super light but it's still good old fish and chips.
Had a fantastic meal with my grandson. We both had the fish and chips in batter. Yum yum.
Always amazing high quality food and service at Tailend, would happily recommend to anyone. Can't wait to go back.
You want good seafood? Go here. You want ambiance? Go somewhere else. We loved it. Good service. The front is fresh seafood take-out. Restaurant in back. Sides are ok, but it’s the seafood. Scallops go fast.
So I was at this sea food restaurant with friends... the menu is simple and the food is good .... thay serve absolutely the freshest seafood also the prices are very reasonable....if u like fiSh don't miss out.
Best food in town! From the service to the variety of choices, unbelievable quality! Can't be beat... Fresh fish, long to go lines, black berries and Basel ice cubes gin drinks while you wait, they have everything covered.
Ask anyone in town which is the best place to have a fish and chips? Everyone will tell you to visit tailends fish bar. A lot of memories and a lot of food. Thanks tailends.
Fantastic. Simply the best chipper in town, I've only been to the takeaway but I've heard excellent things about the sit in part aswell.
Have literally just left after having some amazing food. There was a large party of 19 of us. The staff were amazing. Very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and service was provided with a smile. The food was delicious and if I come back to this area I will 100% be eating there again. Wonderful atmosphere and the whole place was clean and tidy. Loads of praise to all the staff that worked this evening, especially the waiters/waitresses/waiting staff. Keep up the amazing work
Fancy a great seafood? If that’s what satisfies your appetite, then you need to eat at Tailend. My wife and I ordered the fresh Sea bass and whole trout both grilled style. The meal was fabulous. It was prepared with excellence, and the taste was delightful. If you’re in St. Andrews, you should give this restaurant a try. The location is close to the Old Course. The staff was friendly. I’d return and order the same meal. Really wanted to do desserts too but didn’t have room.
Very good food and customer service. Several locals recommended the restaurant for their fish and chips. I also had their very good Seafood Curry dish. The manager provided samples of the drinks before we ordered. If I return to St Andrews, I'll certainly visit Tailend again.

Grilled halibut is tender, juicy, and beautifully seasoned.
The grilled prawns are also full of flavors.
And how awesome is it that mains all come with large portions of salad! The grain salad is light and tastes great with pesto.
Butternut squash is nicely roasted. The sauce is delightful like sunshine— eggy but not as heavy as the common hollandise.
The mussels are fresh, plump, and flavorful. (No pic because we dogged in right away XD) One of the best I’ve seen in a restaurant
Food came fast and service was prompt.
The scallops and halloumi starters were excellent. I had the half fish and chips which was a generous sized portion. There is an option for take away as well but we decided to dine in. Staff were pleasant, polite.

You can easily see how many other people have given this restaurant wonderful reviews, so it is hardly necessary for me to add more. However, we were so delighted by the food and service that I feel it is my obligation to say so publicly (plus, I promised our awesome waiter that I would). First, I need to acknowledge how wonderful and helpful the staff was. The place was PACKED and we didn’t have reservations (a word to the wise!). Nevertheless, they found a way to get us a table and made sure we were taken care of all the same. Thank you! Next, the food was AMAZING! I strongly recommend the mussels in the chili and garlic. Better yet was the curry sauce that we ordered for our fish and chips. I love curry sauce and this was literally the best I have ever had! I can’t really explain why, but I recommend you give it a go! Finally, the monkfish was superb! If it is available, order it! Because monkfish is still sometimes regarded as an “ugly fish”, I’m a big advocate of getting folks to eat more of it—plus, it tastes great!
Great chippy with restaurant at the back. Amazing range of fresh seafood, and check the specials board for the day's catches. Choose between battered, breaded or grilled, various sauces/toppings, chips, roast potatoes, salad, etc.
Best Fish & Chips, I ever had.
I ordered a half fillet in breadcrumbs with garden peas and garlic-chilli sauce. The dish was accompanied by a small slice of lemon.
The fish was fresh, not overpowered by the batter, and tasted amazing just with a squeeze of the lemon. The garden peas tasted good, and enhanced the flavours well.
The chips were good too, crispy on the outside and soft from the inside. The garlic-chilli sauce went really well with it.
The staff is friendly and caters well. The restaurant has a warm vibe to it.
Overall, a great experience!
Nice food nice vibe, their seafood is great and they got varieties of choices. Portion of starter is very small though.
