Reviews The Rose And Crown

Had a great time at the Rose and Crown. A proper traditional pub with a roaring fire, random reindeer decorations, cheap as chips mulled wine, fast wifi and friendly staff. Indeed one of them is still talking to me after I insulted her taste in music! Great place for entrepreneurs like me to do work and feel relaxed!

We went into the rose today late afternoon and despite it being very busy and an anniversary party going on the staff managed to find us a table so we could sample the tapas menu on reading the menu and seeing the prices I thought it a bit overpiced but ordered 3 for £10 anyway and we both must say after tasting we changed our minds the food was very nice indeed and well worth it we will be going back and even though the place was over flowing with customers the landlord took time to speak and thank us for going in and all the staff are lovely and very attentive

Thank you Jamie, Zoe and the rest of the gang. You made our wedding day so easy and effortless. It was exactly what we wanted, nothing stuffy and over the top, just a great party. The food and service etc were fab. Such a lovely venue. Brilliant memories made. Thanks again

Consistently excellent. Superb food. Great staff. Held a small family gathering for 30 last Saturday and everything went so smoothly. The pub accommodated us having a live band too and everything went seamlessly. The tapas was amazing and the chilli out of this world. Thanks guys.

We visited as my great-grandparents ran this pub in the first decades of the 20th century. Lots has changed since then but this is still a beautiful, historic building in a picturesque village. The food was fantastic, tasty and original; we chose from the English tapas menu and the recommended black pudding scotch egg proved to be the pick of a half dozen excellent small plates. Staff and locals were friendly and welcoming, and gave us tips and a map to find the nearby bluebell woods (which were well worth the short walk). Very family friendly, with a pleasant garden for nice days and a selection of games for wetter days.

Sundays are alway exceptionally busy at The Rose, but that’s because the food is incredible and the service is superb. I cannot recommend the roast enough, although the baked Camembert does just edge it out...only slightly! Jamie, Charlotte and the team do a fabulous job in making you feel like you’re their only customers. Will be back again very soon.

Gorgeous food (sticky toffee pudding was the best I’ve had, sweet potato fries unbelievable, corn chowder, hollumi stack: gorgeous) and super friendly to my wild banshee toddler who all the old men at bar with dogs were super sweet to as well. Will definitely be back.

I was there yesterday for Mothers Day lunch. It was lovely to be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco. The food was delicious and service was quick without feeling rushed. The waiter even cajoled my 7 year old into having a photo and delivered on his promise to her for a bigger pudding. It was my second visit of the week, having had the most delicious slow cooked steak chilli on Wednesday evening. I love this place

I went with friends last night to the Rose &. Crown. The aim was to try a few different locally produced beers and sample a few of the English Tapas dishes. The beer festival beers were excellent, and the tapas were so good we couldn't stop ordering them. In fact I think we ate them out of the haddock scotch eggs. *claimtofame* Combining this with the informed wine list, which, of course, the ladies did their best to sample, ensured that frankly, my taste buds were transported to heaven. Thank you, Jamie, and Darren. - Great drinks, food, ambience, and, service.

Excellent service and atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Our food was a bit salty and when we were asked how food was, we fed it back and the manager swiftly came to speak to us. He thinks it’s the gravy and he appreciated our comment. He offered to give us other food but we were too full. He offered us some free drinks instead which was exceptional customer service!

One of the nicest places we have ever been. Booked a table over the phone for 4 adults, 1 dog and a 2 month old 30 min before arriving. Couldn't fault a single thing. The food was lovely even a small meal and water for our dog. We were well taken care of. Thank you so much :)

We went on a whim because we heard music. Wow, what a good whim that was! The band was delightful, infectious party vibe - we could not stop dancing! The pub itself was welcoming and so friendly. Just the best afternoon we've spent as a family all year!

After a long wet rainy walk we were very welcomed into the rose and crown me being worried about my 16 month being loud and running around we were given the snug area which was perfect for us and there was a nice warm fire to warm up and dry our boots and coats. First successful trip out as a family of 5.

Went for a family Sunday lunch for 10. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Wide choice of roasts etc. as a main course plus an interesting selection of starters and desserts. Good drinks selection.

The food and service here never fail to impress! The new Camembert burger is absolutely incredible! Brilliant selection of Gin too! Fantastic service, staff are always very friendly. The chefs, considering their young age, are lovely and I have never had food like it before!

Stopped for Saturday lunch. Very friendly welcoming service from the staff. We really enjoyed the English tapas selection. All dishes well cooked and very tasty. Dog friendly. Could become a regular routine to park in the village, Heartwood and then lunch....
