We had the pleasure of holding our Wedding Reception at the Hare and Hounds (31/8) and what can I say, from our first meeting with the team we knew that we had chosen the right venue for our celebration. We had followed them closely over the last 18mths on social media and wanted to support a local venue that obviously had given so much back to the community during the lockdowns. They were so supportive and excited about our theme and provided the most wonderful menu that catered for all the various dietary requirements needed, we were so well looked after and can highly recommend them for parties and events. Thank you so much for making our special day more wonderful than we ever expected!

Good pub, slightly off the beaten track in lower St Albans. Good selection of ales and the food is of a good quality (eaten here once only). The outside space is quite eclectic - old beaten sofas and a rough-and-ready grassed area. Room for improvement but worthy of four stars.

Had a Sunday roast dinner here, it was absolutely delicious. The food came out piping hot, and was Tasty. There was plenty of food and all of the trimmings, and reasonably priced. Definitely my new spot for Sunday roasts!

Lovely little pub with a fantastic roast! Me and my sister came in for a roast dinner without having booked a table. We were seated straight away and where able to order quickly. We had halloumi starters and roast beef mains which were cooked beautifully and a really good value for money meal. Will be back with more of the family to taste what else you’ve got!

23/11/2019: photo upload from a trip to Hemel Hempstead to visit friends. Annually we do an Ale Trail and 2019 was a St. Albans Ale Trail. The Hare & Hounds was along the way.

I don't think the Hare & Hounds beats other similar pubs on any one specific characteristic. They don't have the best beer selection by any means, the building is interesting but there's better locally, but when I am in St Albans I always want to visit. I can't really explain it, some pubs just feel right.

Amazing home made Sunday roast made at short notice for my partners birthday. Well priced. Even though a small side dish was missed off the order, they delivered it to us within a few minutes. We will definately spend a few quid in the pub once lock down is over. Thanks again

We passed it after I had a minor surgery. It was empty as we were early, and I could see a beautiful fire and a sofa. I jumped out of the car and told my partner to park..he didn't have a choice! The tapas was exceptional, and my raspberry gin and his Guinness perfect. We will go again even though not local, we both went to school in St Albans.. The owner and staff were the best. They are down a little back street. It was lovely find xxx

I worked here in around 2004. Visiting 18 years later, it was nice to find the same lively, friendly atmosphere going strong. Definitely worth a visit.
