I am a bit shy and tend not to go into restaurants for lunch when out shopping, tending to prefer the more casual coffee shop offerings, but this was a birthday shopping day, so decided to have something a little more sophisticated and special... my daughter and I had looked at the menus of a few eateries as we wondered through St Albans, and the value lunch deal attracted us, curiosity was rewarded as we emerged from the long corridor into a beautiful dining space! The service was the right mix of attentive, helpful and yet not over bearing. The lunch menu had plenty of choice and represented very good value for money. The food was freshly cooked to order and delicious! I am now planning how to justify return visits with family and friends! No more coffee shop preps led toasties when I am in St Albans! The only drawback was the clean and well appointed toilets are situated up a flight of stairs with no disabled provision...

Managed to get in without reservation on a Monday evening! Otherwise, every other time we tried to get in, we couldn't as they were fully booked up! Food was really delicious and good portions. Service was great, atmosphere great, all in all a super good dinner out for our anniversary. :) Will come back again for sure and would recommend! :)

I can't believe how quiet this place was for lunch on Friday! The service was brilliant, ambiance really nice, the food fantastic and at reasonable prices it is a great hidden little gem of a lunch menu.

There wasn't a single vegan main on the menu, but the restaurant kindly made my favourite pasta dish for me. Spaghetti aglio, olio and peperoncino . It was delicious

Stopped off last min with a colleague on route from London - Midlands whilst away with work and we couldn’t be happier. Honestly, this place served us the best pasta I’ve eaten at an Italian restaurant in years. I had a creamy chicken pesto pasta and my colleague had the spicy tomato & sausage. Despite a last minute, rushed booking, the staff couldn’t of done more to provide great, efficient and friendly service… and the food was SO tasty. Good prices too! Would love to return next time I’m in town. Thank you!

Visited here today for lunch with the wider family, travelled for 2h to get here and was incredibly happy with our pick. Very children friendly and we had 4, 7yo to 13weeks and the staff was really welcoming. Food was very tasty and diverse. As we were a larger party we had to preorder a day earlier, which took the stress of ordering out of it, which was nice. Very high quality food, service etc

We repeated 9 months later and everything keeps fantastic. Great food in a place with charm and kind staff. Don’t miss the fantastic cocktails, as aperitif or after your meal. The tortellini with ricotta and spinachs were delicious and also my tagliatelle with beef and aubergine. The authentic taste from Italy. Congratulations and good luck, chaps.

Found this Italian place via Google search. Reviews seemed good, so booked it for a special event for 6 people. The entrance is a bit weird but the restaurant is much better. Food is good, specially the desserts. We were asked to give the table back even though the restaurant was hardly occupied. The hostesses was keen to bring our bill even though we said we might order a few more drinks. If you are in the neighborhood could try the place.

Had a really nice experience at Alloro Italian restaurant. Friendly staff and helped with diety requirements. Food was nice and tasty. The interior and ambience is spot on! It's so luxurious inside and and very nice place to come too. There is bar for drinks too. Parking is hard to come by, will need to find a paid spot. In the middle of the town centre. Would come again.

"Alloro" is a very refined restaurant in the middle of St Albans. Intimate all-embracing atmosphere where to have a romantic dinner with the partner or a chilled glass of wine with friends. On average, staff members are welcoming and able to guide through the choice of the dishes based on the customers' taste. Good price/quality ratio. Recommended!

We were greeted by a warm smile from all the staff. When the waiter came over to take our order, I told him we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday. He said he would look after here! We ordered our food, which was fantastic and when the dessert arrived, they had put a candle in my daughters and sang 'Happy Birthday'. It was lovely end to a great evening. A big thank you to all the staff who were so friendly.
