Brilliant food and great updated menu and loads of specials, since the reopening of the kitchen. I eat very regularly for lunch and seldom miss their awesome vege Sunday nut roast. Always in top form on food with great service, awesome food (great value and big portions) and great staff. Plus it's still the best dog friendly pub in st albans, where else offers your dogs Sunday lunch roast too! I would highly recommend to all and give 6 stars if I could. Staff always go above and beyond to help you. Although there's no disabled toilet (it is ground and level access though) they have put in ramps, are planning more assistance things and always do everything they can to help and assist. All in all a perfect village people that can't be faulted

Popped in tonight with the Mrs for a swift pint or two on the way home. Ended up staying for food and very impressed. I had the chilli and it was fantastic Mrs G had the Carbonara and reckons it was the best she has had in a long time. Two full plates of lovely food thank you!

Best pub in the area without a doubt. Genuinely friendly, good beer, and excellent food - possibly best beer-battered Fish n Chips in the world!

I actually love this pub, it's now turned into our local over the last month! Staff are very friendly, food is amazing! Best Iv had in a while from a pub! Service also fantastic! But what makes it special for us is the beautiful gem of a garden! I love the traditional pub & this certainly is the best in the area! Landlord & landlady & friendly funny & most welcoming!

This is such a hidden gem. If you blink, you'll miss the road, but you'll soon regret it if you don't experience the beauty and the gorgeous seating at the rear. Great service and lovely smiled on entry. The rear space for seating and entertaining is fabulous. Come and see for yourself. It's my favourite country pub around and I'm new to the area but boy is it great. Great value for money and service you get.

Semi-regular since 2013ish. Well kept beer, good quality food in good sized portions, friendly staff, small and cozy, nice beer patio, right next to church (bell ringing practice Wed evenings!), background music seems to feature a lot of Rod Stewart. Update Aug2022: the pub has re-furbished its outdoor area, making it bigger and decorating it with white and and pink, installing lots of superb lighting, underneath clear canopies. An amazing environment for summer. Food remains good value and delicious.

What can I say!! What an amazing experience we’ve had. The food was amazing and the service was really attentive. Great vegetarian option. The pub is really cute and unique. Our kids enjoyed their meal as we did. ( our kids are fussy so an empty plate is a good thing) Food was fresh and we will be be back. We came from Essex to meet our friends from Milton Keynes for a dog walk. Very dog friendly too as they did sausages for them and dog treats. Thank you so much for your hospitality!

Hosted a 30th birthday party for 20 people to have Sunday lunch. Great job, we were all very happy with the service and food. The roasts were delicious and the pub is very comfortable and quaint. Everyone was very impressed. Thank you to Jake especially. Highly recommend for large parties!

Beautiful country pub perfect for a big roast after a long walk. They even provided beef and gravy for our very obliging dog! The only downside is that the veggies could use more seasoning

What an absolute gem of a pub. We come up monthly to see friends and tried this place out as our usual had closed down; wish we’d tried it sooner! Great service, lovely food and a fabulous outdoor area that’s lovely on a sunny afternoon and it’s dog friendly inside and out! Would definitely recommend The Queens Head!

Friendly, local, pub-style stylish. Lovely outside setting. Iocation perfect - centre of the village, opposite the church. This for me is ideal.

I visited Queens Head yesterday to attend a private party (21st). The buffet provided was fantastic, not the usual beige selection. Even more impressed with the lovely friendly staff who were working, with a special shout out to Jake

Superb village pub famous for Sunday roast, but ample room inside, outside and a covered outside area too. Impressive fountain in the garden. Friendly staff.

Turned up here after a walk. Hadn't booked but we're lucky enough to get a table. Staff are lovely and so accommodating despite being rushed off their feet nothing was too much bother. The Sunday roast was more than adequate and went down a treat. Thanks to all especially the lovely happy lady who sorted our table.

Really attractive-looking pub in a lovely location - next to the church and ideal for visiting Heartwood Forest. Only ever visited on a Sunday and, for me, the interior is too dark and the aroma of cooking is too overpowering if you just want a drink. Saying that, the Sunday Roasts look and smell great, but I personally prefer the lighter and more airy feel of The Green Man. Although, again in my opinion, The Queen’s Head does have the better Beer Garden - walled on one side and overlooking the church on the other. Great variety of comfortable outdoor seating and great for people/dog watching.

Traditional English pub near a nice old church, serving food and drinks. Food is the typical English/pub style, with a good choice of english and international beers. I tried fish and chips with an Amber Ale, very good both. Prices on average. Nice atmosphere inside with fireplaces, and it looks like there is also a nice garden outside (not tried). Small parking lot outside.

Good service, I didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food. Nice big garden with a fountain. I'm not keen on the fake glass covered area, but that's a personal preference.

Absolutely amazing Sunday lunch. My friend and I had half portion and a dersset and it was a perfect amount. Next time I'll go for a large dinner and won't have the dessert. The cherry crumble was lovely nice thick topping and the custard was nice consistency. It was all cooked lovely and we loved the variety of vegetables. The staff are really helpful and very friendly thank you can't wait to go again at the end of Feb yum yum 👏😋
