We went for lunch on a Tuesday and arrived at around 13:30. On arrival we were greeted by smiles from some of the locals. The barmaid was joking with them and as she was taking our order, we became included in the conversation. It was a pleasant surprise due to the fact that we have London accents.
The lunch menu was marked for 'seniors' and was cheap and cheerful: ham, egg and chips, pie, chips and peas etc. It was all pre-made supermarket cafe food with oven chips etc. However, this description is not meant to denigrate from the food - at £5 for a meal, it was on par with a supermarket cafe lunch and was passable as that. It catered for its main customers - locals who pop in for a beer, a chat and a quick cheap bite.
All in all, I can recommend a visit if you are passing It's a good local pub, with cheerful staff and a happy atmosphere.
I've been coming here every now and then for about 15 years now since we moved up here from London and it's very nice local pub. I find in Lincolnshire you go in most pubs they hear your London accent and treat you like you're a leper or something, not here, the staff are always friendly and will serve you even if they were mid conversation with someone else, (which is rare for most pubs wherever you go)
The food has always been consistently good and decent price too I think £11 for a Sunday roast with all the trimmings is good value.
Can't comment on the desserts as I'm always too full from my main meal to get to them but from what I've seen they do look delicious.
Proper local pub! If you're looking for something off the beaten track but with good food at a good price, then you will not be disappointed.
The fish and chips alone are worth the drive, I dont know what they do with that batter, but 😋😋.
You can eat in the bar area or in a more secluded restaurant area towards the back of the pub.
Beer is clean and tasty exactly how it should be, seating out the front and back with a wooden climbing frame and tyre swing.
