After trawling around the town unsuccessfully looking for a restaurant that was reasonably priced and had gluten free options, we headed back to the pier and its was a good move. The restaurant was welcoming and the staff were very friendly. I was handed a gluten free menu and was delighted to see that there lots of lovely dishes on it.
I had the torched coley and it was delicious, everyone’s food was very good. There was also a large selection of nice soft drinks.
Added to all this, there were plenty of tables available ( we arrived at about 2.30) and a lovely view of the sea.
Definitely recommended.
With 5 days notice the staff were happy to take a booking for 19 people to celebrate a big birthday. Lisa was incredibly friendly and helpful on the phone and I was confident that all the arrangements would go well. On the night all the staff were friendly and efficient. They were happy for us to take our time and at no point did we feel rushed even though it was past closing time when we finished. The sharing platters were excellent as starters and the rest of the food was delicious. The crab mac & cheese portions are very big so make sure you are hungry! I would thoroughly recommend a meal at The Boardwalk. The view is fantastic and it is warm and welcoming even on a stormy night. We will definitely be back.
What a friendly welcome on this grey day - our food was superb, we’ll be back to try more of the menu
Excellent service and great food. Highly recommended. Wide and varied selection of wines and beers. Seafood platters are a must if you are a sea food kind of person. Scotch egg starter is a must, with it's runny yolk, perfect.
We visited Dulwich and Southwold with our dog.
Having eaten at the cafe on Duleich beach previously, we decided to try the Boardwalk Restaurant.
We heard it was dog friendly.
When we arrived we were greeted and they confirmed that dogs were welcome. We sat at a two seater by the window at the end of the large bay style window. This allowed plenty if floor space for our dog without her being in the way.
The staff loved her and kept giving her Boneo treats which she enjoyed.
The restaurant is nicely decorated, not over crammed with furniture and was busy but not packed. It felt like a nice, high quality tea room from yesteryear.
The service was spot on and in keeping with the venue as was the food which was plentiful and fairly priced.
I had my "go to" cod and chips with a coffee and my wife had the pan fried breast of chicken with spring onions and cubes of potatoes and an orange juice chaser.
My wife had the sticky toffee puffing and ice dream desert, her usual, and I had another coffee.
All in all a most excellent meal in nice surroundings with great service and dog friendly to boot.
Well worth it.
We then walked around the pier and visited the various nooks and crannies it holds. A great place to visit for all ages.
Beautiful view! We came to Boardwalk restaurant on Bank Holiday to celebrate our anniversary. Very generous plates and very welcoming staff. We recommend!
We came across this gem of a place on a trip to Southwold. We were looking for lunch. We were greeted by very pleasant staff and given a warm welcome. Wide choice of food on the menu, we opted for the seafood linguine. Everything was fresh and delicious. Full of fresh mussels, clams, cockles, shrimp, samphire. Highly recommend and really good value.
After walking around the town and not being able to book anywhere for sunday lunch we saw the roasts available at The Boardwalk. We called up and booked a table for the same sunday.
We arrived on time to be told they had a bit of a wait for food orders, not a problem for us at all. We ordered our food and drinks and chatted amongst ourselves.
Ill be honest we didnt have high expecations due to the location but how wrong we were! 4 roast dinners arrived and they looked and tasted amazing. Probably one of the best roasts we have had. The staff were under pressure but the service was brilliant. Would definately reccomend a roast here!
What a fantastic lunch we have had at the Boardwalk. Very good 3 courses, friendly service & highly entertaining interactive theatre throughout. Faulty Towers cast are authentic Sybil, Basil & Manuel. Great Pantomime.x
It's cold, it's gusty and it's raining. Frankly, I don't want to walk down the pier after an 8 mile walk. So, joy of joys, to step into this lovely, warm, homely little restaurant and sip hot coffee and eat grand fish & chips watching the wave beat against the shore. Felt like Dirk Bogard in "Brighton Rock". And why the hell not?
Took a party of disabled Stroke Survivors to the Boardwalk restaurant in July. All organised in advance with the management team.
They catered for almost 50 of us. The welcome and service was excellent and very well organised. Additionally the food, all ordered off a selected menu, was great, delivered efficiently and quick, and was well presented and tasty.
This is the 3rd time our group have used this place and it never disappoints.
The place is well run, friendly and efficient.
Thoroughly recommend.
Stopped for lunch . Had our four children with us and the staff were really helpful in sorting high chairs and colouring books.
The food was lovely . Probably the best mushy peas I’ve ever eaten 😀 good selection of drinks
Highly recommend
Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The tartare sauce and mushy peas were also fantastic (I am guessing homemade). The batter was golden, thin, and crispy. The fish was cod. The chips were slightly soft (not too crispy), which is how I like them, and not too greasy. I think the menu suggests they are cut on site, which might explain why they are better than chips in other restaurants. And sitting outside on the pier in the sun was lovely. A nice surprise find.
Lovely food and plenty of it, all cooked fresh. Had such a lovely lunch ( tempura gerkins and smoked mackerel pate to start, swordfish curry and crab, chilli and lime linguine for mains no room for pud) earlier in the week that we went back for afternoon tea today. So much on the afternoon tea we had to bring some back with us. Comes with unlimited tea, coffee or scrummy hot chocolate.
Place is lovely and clean and staff cant do enough for you.
Would really recommend it, try the tempura gerkins lol.
The Sunday roast is delicious and really good value, plus it has cauliflower cheese, I’d highly recommend and we’ll be back. I dropped the service down as it was a little slow but nothing that bothered us too much as we weren’t in a rush.
Went to Southwold Pier for the first time on Sunday and had THE best fish finger sandwich and chips I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely Fantastic Service. Cannot recommended highly enough! AND the sights and sounds of the seaside as well. Brilliant.
Another brilliant meal and staff are outstanding! Love it here, our favourite place to have lunch dinner!
Had a fantastic meal here, we are tricky as I am gluten intolerant and my partner is lactose intolerant, but nothing was too much trouble. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Will definitely come again.
