We were lucky to get there when there were only two people ahead of us. Within minutes, the courtyard was packed. We ate in, at the window table, which was an interesting experience 😁. We absolutely loved the cod and chips. I really appreciated the fact they are cooking in beef fat and not in seed oil. The staff were friendly. Highly recommend!

Love the fish and chips, absolutely great finish to a day by the seaside. Very busy and packed inside but we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. Highly recommend and deserves the five stars.

Long queues and wait and for the food but it prices worth it in the end. The chips in particular are delicious as cooked in fat. The fish is tasty too, particularly the haddock. Don’t be put off by the queues if you have the time.

We arrived late, just before closing time. We ordered 11 fish suppers, the staff said, 'that's ok, we'll stay open until we've finished your order'. Excellent customer service and excellent fish and chips. The fish and chips were so good, that we came back a couple of days later for lunch. This is a very clean fish and chips shop, decorated like a shop from the 50s. This shop is always busy, great food and friendly and polite staff. Recommended

Beautiful fish and chips, cooked in beef dripping! Delicious!! We sat down at the seafront where there are plenty of benches and bins. Perfect

As good as the best review and some more. Great choice, perfectly fried fish and chips. Mushy peas are handmade, and the selection of beers and wine is just lovely. Sit in or take away. Have a drink whilst waiting for your freshly cooked meals and sit and relax with a drink with an electronic buzzer that makes the wait not a wait but rather an opportunity to have a drink and a chat. Fab.

Even though there was a large number of people waiting, the handheld buzzer system worked very well and they were very quick to get food prepared for those waiting. It is clearly very popular and it is easy to see why. The food was fantastic - some of the best fish and chips I’ve experienced on holidays. If I had anything to say about what could be improved it would be to move the smoking bin away from the outside waiting/eating area. There is nothing worse than inhaling smoke and having ash flicked over you while eating something you’re really enjoying. Personally I’d put no smoking signs 🚭 up in this area and not encourage smoking with a bin. That’s the only fault - the rest was thoroughly enjoyable ☺️

Nice scampi and chips. The room to dine in is small but it doesn't take long until someone gets up and goes. No toilets. If it gets busy you may be given a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready.

Excellent fish and chips in the heart of Southwold, close to the Lord Nelson pub. Batter is crunchy and the chips are perfectly cooked. They have a small eat-in area at the front, whilst for takeaway - which is the majority of their business - you go in through a small door at the side to join the queue. It gets very busy at peak times and closes promptly at 8pm, so don't be late! Tip - If you go at a busy time, you will have to wait in their small courtyard outside. You can buy beer or wine there, or bring your beer from The Nelson (please return the glass) or grab a bottle from the co-op, to drink while you wait. 😋

Excellent fish and chip shop with great tasting food. The home made mushy peas and tartare sauce were great. Very friendly and polite staff and small electronic device given when ordering to notify you when the food is ready. Can get really busy, but, a sign of quality food and well worth the wait - would highly recommend.
