This is a great little pub just up on Caunton Road. Food is absolutely delicious; would highly recommend the Steak and Stilton pie if available as a special. Service is first class and the staff were genuinely warm, welcoming and very professional. Well worth a visit.
We called here for lunch as we travelled to the Peak District and were impressed enough to call again on our way home 5 days later. As it was a nice sunny day, we sat outside and although near the road it was quiet.
Stopped by on chance, had the most amazing food.
Staff were very friendly from the minute we arrived. So good to see a family run pub.
Will definitely come back.
Called in on the way somewhere on a Thursday evening, couldn't fault it at all. Staff really friendly and attentive... pie, mash and peas absolutely delicious. All in all, one of, if not the best pub meals I've had in a very long time. The chef even came round asking everyone how the food was and fo

Stopped for a drink but ended up having a lunch - scampi and fish & chips. Large fish portion in light and crispy beer batter - recommended. Plenty outdoor seating if the weather is good.

We noticed that the pub had reopened and being reasonably local, we decided to stop for lunch. The place is warm and cosy with plenty of tables. Two fireplaces and nice decor. The menu has a good selection to suit most. A young couple have taken on this pub and restaurant. We wish them all the best.
Fab country style pub in Hockerton. Glad it was rescued! Lovely warm welcomes every time you enter. Very accommodating for little ones. Food's fantastic & generous portions! Great place to go on an empty stomach! Nice people, nice food, nice atmosphere. Thank you everyone @ The Spread Eagle. 5/5
They managed to fit us in even though they were really busy and we hadn't booked. The Sunday roasts are amazing and generous portions. The staff are super friendly too
Visited with my husband and daughter for the first time today and have to say we will definitely be back. The food was amazing - everything was cooked fresh to order and the portions were enormous. My partner and I broke down on the way home from skegness with our kids last night and we managed to pull in next to the spread eagle. The owners went above and beyond to help us while we waited for the RAC. The pub has such a lovely atmosphere, the food is fantastic and the owners were so welcoming
