This pub is at the top end just off Lord st so its in the perfect location for pre-town drinks! It always seems to get a good crowd of people in here makin the atmosphere good, they have good offers on drinks and its not too expensive! The food is your average pub grub nothing amazing but it tastes good and does the job and again its reasonably priced.

The Phoenix is a bit of an odd choice for the name of a pub. According to Greek mythology, a phoenix is a mythical firebird with a colourful plumage and tail of gold and scarlet which lives for 500 to 1000 years. Not quite the sort of animal that you'd associate with drinking. But then again, what animal would you associate with drinking? A sloth, perhaps? Name issues aside, The Phoenix is a fairly large pub near to Southport's beach front that serves a good selection of draught lagers and ales on tap all at reasonable prices. It also does food until 9pm everyday, with their menu offering a range of pub classics that are all pretty cheap and can include drinks deals with them as well. The atmosphere in the pub of a daytime is pretty relaxed and casual (unless there's a game on, of course) but at night, the lights go down and the music goes up as a resident DJ gets the party atmosphere going in an attempt to start your night out off in style. This is helped by several great drinks deals, making it one of the cheapest pubs to drink in. All in all, The Phoenix is a very decent place to go if you fancy a drink and a bite to eat or if you're looking for somewhere to begin a messy night out.

Went in to get a drink while our home team was playing and was delighted to see the match on TV in the pub. We were able to watch them and enjoy some beverages. Decided to stay for lunch, the Philly cheese steak was very tasty. My partner wasn't as keen on the salt and pepper chicken wrap but ate it anyway. Nice place to be with friendly staff.

Nice warm welcome from Manager. Dog friendly town centre pub. Good selection of ales at very reasonable prices. Had two burger meals which were amongst the best we've eaten. We'll worth a visit. We'll done.

Food was good value and tasty could do with a children's menu, beer was of good quality. Male toilets need seeing to, no locks on cubical toilet seat missing. Toilets the only thing that let it down. I would go back there again.

Lovely and friendly pub. A nice pint and decent price. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the smell from the cellar, the drains Def need sorting out down there. We will be back though on out next visit to Southport

Nice place. Not too busy. Clean. Friendly staff. First entrance we came to had quite high steps, I'm sure there will be another entrance but we just used the first we came to. Pool tables. Sport on TV. Wide variety of drinks.

Went in to watch football which the lady behind the bar put on the tv for us. Not very busy but it was a Thursday night I've heard it could be closing down in the new year.

Great staff, choice of beer and food. I've recently had both a meal for a fiver and the Sunday Lunch, both were excellent. The steak for a fiver my husband had was small (told this on ordering so no surprise) but was the best steak he said he's had in a long time.
