Whenever my mother wanted me to feel special she brought me here. Now now, get that vision of an uptight, stressed and stingy with love mother out of your head, we're not talking any central matriarch from We Need to Talk About Kevin here, I was one spoilt rotten kid, with affection, and materialistically. It's amazing actually that I've turned out as well-adjusted and selfless as I have. *Chuckles to self, recalls all 'you're not the centre of the universe!' comments from significant others* Anyway, lunch in Southport meant one of several options. It meant The Gallery if my grandmother was around, as she had lofty aspirations. It meant Pippins, Coffee Bean or a department store if both parents or my father were present. It meant somewhere silly with the brunette where we'd forego nutritional value in favour of empty calories. But if it was just Mum and me, it'd be Nostalgia. The cutest, sweetest, kitschiest place on earth. It is just stunning. You're situated above all the shops on Lord Street so the view out of the windows is fantastic, if you ever get round to it after taking in the view indoors. The ornate high ceilinged tea room is divine, and it's perhaps not one to take the partner to, considering that all the warmly-welcoming and efficient waitresses wear traditional tea room outfits. Ooh, matron. Well it is Nostalgic after all... Old-fashioned is the order of the day here, and that extends to the menu. High teas, quaint sandwiches, cream scones, soups, light bites, traditional main meals, scrumptious desserts, and plenty of warm and cold beverages to choose from. The food is rich and tasty and feels like a treat. There's a function room on the second floor and the place has won countless awards for just how accomplished and friendly its staff are. Don't think the posh vibe makes it all formal, you couldn't find a more relaxed and lovely ambience. It's easy to miss - there's a narrow opening by the Early Learning Centre and the tea rooms are located above that, up a rather heavy climb of stairs. Still, it's certainly worth the exercise and it's an overall memorable experience, one you'll want to relive again and again. Come along and be ladies what lunch! Or men, I'm sure the frilly aprons will entice you too.

I've been coming here since before I can remember; in fact I practically grew up here. So many memories of my visits to southport include this place; from afternoon teas to family functions. This place has not changed! If you want to feel lady like and transported to another era this is the place to go! However the food is not so good since the new owners have taken over. It's simple food and really I'm picking at straws. But if you are looking for a quick bite and delicious scones then head here. My visit today I had the tuna toastie - the toastie was okay, maybe a tad more mayo ( or something with tang?) and the salad was pretty lifeless (do it well or not at all I say!) but overall okay. Also had the Bakewell tart which was lovely. But nothing to write home about. 3 for food 4.5 for service and ambience 10 for childhood memories!

This place is lovely. Nostalgia Team Rooms is situated on Lord Street just above the Early Learning Centre and has won a few awards in its time. The seats could do to be more comfortable, but I think putting sofas in like starbucks would just totally take away what Nostalgia is all about. The waitress service is fab and you can really just put your feet up and chill out. In the background they have music of the yesterday year playing (although this hasn't always been on when I have gone, but mostly). Cream scones with jam and a cup of tea. Or rather start with cutely cut sandwiches, and then follow with cream scones and jam followed by a few cakes. Then roll yourself out of the door. No I don't think you could do this, you would definitely have to be more lady like, and delicately glide out of the place, pretending that you weren't totally and utterly full of food.

This place has to be worth a visit. It is a large, high ceilinged room above the shops on Lord Street. Look out for a narrow opening at street level facing a long flight of stairs. The waitresses are dresses in traditional tea room outfits. The menu has that old fashioned feel about it with high teas a big favourite. Unfortunately as with a lot of venues it seems short of cash and so is a little shabby and relies on the original architecture and dated decorations for the effect. The high ceiling doesn't give it a very cosy feel nor does it make it feel grand so it kind of missing the make slightly. Still nice food, good service (sometimes with a smile), manager is always helpful when you pay and nice views over Lord Street. Could do better but if you are in Southport worth a visit.

We used to eat here years ago and thought we would give it a go again, hearing it was under new management I was worried it wouldn’t be as good, to our surprise it was even better, 3 X full English with perfectly poached eggs, all meet well done as requested, excellent presentation on the plate, the biggest pot of tea I’ve ever seen included in the price of the meal, fantastically comfy chairs and amazing view and best of all the most wonderfully friendly staff, I even popped my head through the serving hatch to thank the chef who was a lovely smiley lady, definitely worth a visit this is our new Thursday breakfast eatery, also there cake selection was amazing especially the scones, visit don’t think about it just go

Came here for afternoon tea on Sunday for my sisters hen party as we were after somewhere nice and vintage looking. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh. The tables are set out lovely too. All the staff there were fantastic and went above and beyond to make it special for my sister. We will be visiting again soon ❤️

Lovely olde worlde spacious tea rooms which is far removed from the numerous greasy cafes along Lord street in Southport. This made a wonderful change to escape back to the way things used to be with waitresses dressed to be the part and providing a service with a smile. The food was very nice but had the usual British side salad of a couple of lettuce leaves and a tomato, but it was reasonably priced. The only problem was it is upstairs so perhaps not easily accessed by the people who would appreciate it the most.

Booked afternoon tea at Nostalgia tea rooms. Very enjoyable indeed. Tasty sandwiches, lasagne, chips salad, scones with butter, jam and cream, Swiss roll, almond type of cake, chocolate cake with strawberry dipped in chocolate and Eton mess. I finished mine but hubby couldn't eat it all. Had a lovely pot of tea and a nice window view. Staff were very pleasant. We would definitely recommend. Thank you to all

Had a fantastic brunch at the Nostalgia Tea rooms and sad to to see the notice the owners will be retiring at the end of April and wish them all best of luck and for new owners. The service was excellent and a great cooked breakfast and afternoon tea had by all! Loved the decor and downtown abbey style clothes the waitresses wore. Wonderful experience.

We always go to the nostalgia tea rooms when we are in Southport town centre because they do excellent meals which are always nice and hot, they also have a gluten free menu which is great for me as I am coeliac and can not have wheat or gluten, the service is excellent and it doesn't take a lot of time to be served and then receive your meal so if you are looking far a place to have a meal then this is the place for you. The only downside is that the restaurant is up a long flight of stairs so it will be a problem for people in wheelchair.

Old school cool! A hidden gem that you will miss if you blink! We stumbled upon this place whilst looking for somewhere for a snack. Polite, welcoming, and attentitive staff dressed in period costume, period decor, and period music all contributed to the retro theme and ambience. A proper pot of tea with a separate jug of hot water was so refreshing. We only had a snack, but it was very enjoyable non the less and nicely presented. I would have given 5 stars, but I have to down mark for the annoying practice of "extras" being added to the bill. They have a strange policy of presenting non-VAT inclusive pricing. This means that your expected bill is suddenly increased by 20%. VAT should be inclusive in displayed pricing. A very bad business strategy as it alienates unsuspecting customers who feel conned and irritating to those who are aware of it. It is certainly a place that we would have no hesitation in visiting again and would recommend to others, allbeit with the VAT caveat.

Didn't realise places like this still exist. Lovely room, wonderful food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. An absolute pleasure during a short visit to the coast. If we pass this way again the Nostalgia will be our first stop.
