We didn't plan to go here today we kind of just happened upon it. My family and I came for lunch and we absolutely fell in love with the place! The outside space for children is perfect. Very safely fenced in with a choice of slides in the play area for younger and older kids. Plenty of space to run around. There's a separate area for customers not wanting to be in the family area which I thought worked well.
Inside we were greeted at the bar by the bar staff who were super friendly. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Our lunch was a varied choice from the Children's menu, family menu and Senior menu. Impressive choices. Our lunch arrived with hardly any waiting time and the food was cooked perfectly with good sized portions.
We were asked if everything was ok which it was.
It did rain while we were here today which wasn't a problem as sitting outside turned into sitting inside and there was ample seating with good space between tables.
All in all we had a great experience and cannot wait to return.
Very friendly pub with great staff. Chef made us very welcome with a sausage for my dog Teddy. Joe behind the bar couldn’t do enough for us. Food was good and the atmosphere was nice even though it was a cold snowy day. Definitely going to make this place my regular.
Went there on a Thursday evening.
Had a great meal, lovely and hot!!
The staff were great nothing to much, trouble I couldn’t fault it!! My friends and I will definitely be going back. Great pub and great food!!!
We love this pub. The staff are always friendly & remember us. We take our dogs there a lot & they are always fussed & spoilt. We've eaten there loads of times & the food has always been great & plenty of it. We've booked our Christmas lunch there & can't wait.
Giant plate…thick slices of melt-in-the-mouth roast beef…whole allotment of veg…extra gravy delivered…doggy bag wrapped in foil to go…not a lot of money. Top notch!!
Loved this pub was our first time and bar staff where so friendly and welcoming and food was good, will definitely be going back!
Had a lovely meal with my mother, daughter and grandson , good menu kept everyone happy. Great food , friendly staff who were very attentive, clean and tidy . Only disappointment no caramel profiteroles on the menu any more but the Oreo cheesecake was a wonderful substitute!!! Thanks x
Used to be, effectively, my regular.
As always, a warm, friendly welcome. Attentive staff. Fair priced drinks (for South Essex).
A wet Saturday night Halloween event, with band AOB. Just very chilled, with rocky overtones.
Standard menu, which from experience is perfectly fine. Specials menu looks lush.
Enjoyed my walk down memory lane immensely. Won't leave it so long until my next visit.

Just popped in as driving past on the way back to London AND MUST say Lamb Sunday Roast IM SPEECHLESS worth coming back for. Mathew you're legend for recommendations and service second to none. Skipping Shard and happily driving back next week. Glad we discovered this little gem .
Food was excellent. I had chicken and ham pie. It was delicious. Staff very good. Friendly. Atmosphere OK but it was half term so a lot of children.
Excellent service and staff! Food was amazing! Staff very happy to accommodate dietary restrictions.
They were also very accommodating to dogs which was great! Took that pressure off, as well as the staff loving the dogs as well! :)
Would happily go back!
Out for a Sunday drive with family and getting hungry, we decided a pub roast dinner was the way to go. I was in a wheelchair due to a recent surgery, and they were able to accommodate us. Good space in the eating areas and a rustic atmosphere added to the overall character of the place. Our waiter was extremely friendly, patient, and helpful with all of our questions. I had the Lamb Shank roast dinner. The meat and gravy were top notch; the sides were just okay. The desert was really good. Overall, good food.
They have a play area for the kids so after dinner we sat in the beer garden while the grandkids ran and climbed. Good place for families of all ages.
One improvement recommended: widen and flatten the path. It was very tough maneuvering the wheelchair over its uneven and narrow surface.
Lovely place to eat and drink, food was good value for money and decent. Bar staff were very welcoming. Will be going again soon.
Good pub, cosy and friendly atmosphere, well-decorated and good service.
Excellent service, friendly staff and considerate table placement made our birthday lunch perfect. Food was very good with plenty of choice and good sized portions.
Will definitely go there again!
Would recommend a visit to The Rose Inn if you are local, or just visiting the area. There is a great mixture of seating areas, and they serve great coffee. The Inn is located in a nice rural part of town, and there's plenty of parking. Food is lovely too.

We visited The Rose Inn Friday evening for a meal.
The atmosphere was pleasant and calm. The staff friendly and helpful (especially the waitress) who told us what few things were no longer on the menu that day and was honest and upfront that the food might take quite a while due to new people in the kitchen.
I was delighted to be offered a vegan vegetarian menu (a nice touch). There was some good choices and I went for the halloumi salad which looked good and was enjoyable.
The only thing that wasn't so good about it was the dressing was quite strong and overwhelmed the other flavours. I would of preferred being able to pour over the right amount for me.
My fellow diner chose the hunters chicken and loved it.
We waited in the garden which is lovely and were pleasantly surprised that our food only took 30 mins. A lot less time than we were warned it might be. Altogether a really lovely experience.
Such a super pretty country-style pub. Lovely tasty pub menu, good parking and a great outside area for the kids to run around in. The staff were super friendly and we are looking forward to going back again!
